Thanks so much 4 giving others an insight to trucking.I am Entertainer turned Tour Bus Operator / Tractor Trailer Operator/ New York City Bus Operator...This Brought back Memories!"
I've done nights driving for 19 years now and recently been suffering from depression the dr has said nights isn't ideal and is a big factor to the way i feel.I have done odd day shift but driving trucks through the day isn't pleasurable at all, even though at night we have to put up with road closures. The key to working nights is making sure you get enough sleep through the day and you are able to sleep through the day otherwise, it can be a bit of a drag.A power nap after a stop and a walk and a coffee for 20/30 mins really helps if you are struggling.
+Deano that's great advice mate, it's never great having to work night's and can wear you down. If you can't sleep during the day then it will be a real struggle and a 30min power nap mid shift is highly underrated. Hope you get yourself sorted soon bud 👍
Hi Kev another great video to watch loved it all keep up with the great work that you do and keep them great vlogs coming drive carefully and stay safe my friend
Great vid as always Kev, may I also add doing over 8+ years of nights my top tips are: don't have the heat blowers on, always have window open keeping a fresh supply of air, night light on, upbeat music I find drum n bass works ideally especially with a coffee or energy boost, keep the brain active counting scanias or other trucks you pass etc... If your nodding, pull over and have a rest/walk or whatever... Better late than never... Safe travels y'all
I stop there on cobham services overnight its a very busy services. Its packed woth truckers on the night. Btw it was good to see you video again keep up tbe good work
I heard about putting a pallet or your stack of pallets etc on a particular side of the truck for roundabouts etc years ago but forget which side it was If I remember rightly I think it was to put the pallet on the left? But learnt over the years that if you put the pallet behind the back wheels in trailer it rarely moves eg back in common sense era long before the strap everything etc era and course about course and everything requiring a course or certificate - oh the joys of the common sense era - they were the days But I got the tip about putting an odd pallet on one side of the vehicle on or behind the back wheels when loading chep pallets to supply vehicles etc when truckers used to say e actly where they wanted the stack of pallets put etc
Biggest tip is stay hydrated whatever you drink water tea coffee etc.. its far to easy to fall into a "normal" 9-5 work /sleep pattern and forget to hydrate. Had this problem a few times filled up on food and felt sleepy through the shift but you build up a what works and doesnt work list in your head, after a month or two and it becomes natural. Thats when you become a white walker 😂😂
+brian shaw great tip mate, I need to improve my water intake and a bit less coffee would help. Like you say, once you get into a pattern it's a bit easier, fortunately I'm just a winter white walker 😂
+Southampton Fan84 cheers mate, views are on the up and there what count, as long as people enjoy watching them I'll keep making them regardless of the numbers, thanks for the support as always 👍
+Adam Kay fortunately Mr DVSA (no longer VOSA) won't be bothered as it's perfectly legal to have the tacho on break as long as I'm taking no part in the loading/unloading. Company policy or 'driver waiting room' nonsense might say otherwise but perfectly legal as far as EU driver regulations are concerned.

Dont let Mr Vosa find out that your having your break whilst unloading
