I’ll debate all day that 2 is by far the superior movie. The apartheid storyline, revenge Riggs gets, the humor, and Joe Pesci make that a no brainer as the best installment. After 2, I would say 1, 4, then 3.
12:48 What Riggs says here is true. If you remember from "Lethal 2" -- assuming you've seen it -- Riggs and Murtaugh were in the cargo crate full of cash on the Alba Varden ship. When Murtaugh grabs a handful of cash, enough to put all three of his kids through college, Riggs tells him to go ahead and take it, but Murtaugh refuses to pocket the "blood money".

Lethal Weapon is one of the best series of movies ever due to its continuity through every single movie. The flow of the story and relationships grow amazingly naturally
When this one came out, a local Cinema arranged a marathon to show all 4 movies back to back one evening. I was really able to appreciate just how well they fit together.
This was the first American movie for Jet Li, the bad guy. He's so fast, the camera couldn't catch his moves, so he had to slow himself down to be filmed. I love love love this movie. ❤
I'd never, ever understand why someone can dislike one of the four movies. They're a whole. Its the friendship, the love, everything. Its a whole package and I still think its one of the only saga that did a perfect run.
Joe Pesci's know for his crazy tough guy roles and some really comedically timed slapstick type stuff, but he's an ACTOR when you give him a scene like the one he had with Mel Gibson at the cemetery scene. That was such a good monologue they gave Leo!
Mel Gibson is currently directing Lethal Weapon 5 at the behest of Richard Donner and his Last Will & Testament when he died a couple years back. Donner would not accept anyone else to do it because of how amazing Mel is in the Director's chair. Also, the script was basically finished with Shane Black when Donner passed, so to give Mel the torch is an incredible last gesture. It's supposed to come out next year as filming was slated to start a few months ago. I honestly cannot wait, this series won't die and I'm glad it refuses to.
As excited as I am to see another LW movie (especially one directed by Mel Gibson), it will sadly (99.9%) likely not feature Leo Getz...Still gonna see it but I wish they'd try like Scorcese and DeNiro did to get Pesci to do even a small cameo.
If you really want to see Jet Li in his best movies you should see Fist of Legend, Fearless, Unleashed, Kiss of the Dragon and the Once Upon a Time in China series.
@@joemckim1183 I preferred his foreign films over his US films. You should also check out The Warlords. He was great in that movie. Also, High Risk, that movie was hilarious.
When we got our very first DVD player in 1999, this was one of the five included movies that came with it because they were still trying to coerce people into adopting such crazy futuristic technology. Since we only had those few movies (I remember Six Days Seven Nights, Stepmom, Sphere were three of the others) I watched Lethal Weapon 4 when I normally wouldn’t have as an 11-year-old. But it was so fun, I loved it, watched it so many times, had my mom rent the original 3 (which they only had on VHS at Blockbuster), watched them, enjoyed them, but man for some reason 4 just hits different for me. I thought maybe it was just because 4 was the first one I watched so it ranked higher than really deserved in my mind, but I’m really glad to see that it looks like the same for you, even though you started with the first. I hope they do a 5th before anybody… uh, “can’t” *except Mel Gibson is atrocious 😔
As usual, Cass slays it outta the park with this emotional reaction. It's been such fun watching you react to these. And she even LOL'd as well. Brilliant. It's a far cry from the days of Shawshank when I first started watching - she's family now. LOL ❤
BEST MOVIE ENDING EVER! there is no debate, no other movie does everything this does AND manages such a happy ending, it wraps everything up perfectly, other series had new sequels that all get progressively worse, its truely an exceptional acheivement
@@GorramT LOTR is good but it has like 9 endings that take half an hour, its in dire need of a trim, where as hereits a five minuite skit tacked on as the perfect cherry top off the franchise
I love the way that Riggs deals with the ‘old, push ‘em on the railroad tracks in front of the train’ routine. I have seen a few of these in movies and it always annoys me that NOBODY, EVER, thinks of just putting the car in Drive and flooring it! They always stand on the brakes and try to keep from getting shoved into the path of the train. Just gunning it forward is the only sure way to get out of trouble AND dealing with the bad guys in the vehicle behind. Sure, stand on the brakes for a second, so the bad guys are gunning their engine too, then take off, leaving them to accelerate onto the tracks.
God Damn Jet Li is a badass in this movie. I love the fight at the house where the good guys are kicking his men's asses and he just casually saunters down the stairs smiling. It doesn't matter if they take out every last one of his men, he knows he can tune them all up by himself lol
A great movie. Geart characters, great cast, great action, great emotion, great humour, great cast. A perfect way to finish off a fantastic movie franchise.
Bad guy's name is Jet Li and he's amazing. He was in the Maldives in 2004 and saved his 4 year old daughter from a tsunami. You should check his film Hero (2002) if you get a chance. Beautiful film.
Since you seem to respond very well to the buddy cop dynamic, definitely check out Bad Boys (Will Smith & Martin Lawrence) as well as Rush Hour (Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker). Plus, you also need to see Jet Li in a leading role such as in Hero & Fist of Legend. Oh, and there's a spoof of this franchise called Loaded Weapon 1 starring Emilio Estevez & Samuel L. Jackson.
I just got home from work, and have been waiting all day to watch this reaction. And the first thing I see is one of the best channel-made commercials EVER!! Well done Cassie!
I just wanted to shout-out your editor real quick. Whoever that person is they do an amazing job with your skits, intros, and in general. Bravo editor 👏🙌
14:10 - "On the take" means a cop taking money such as a bribe. 24:36 - Yes, Jet Li "de-armed" the gun in this scene. However, this is pure Hollywood fiction as dismantling a handgun (in this case, a Beretta 92FS) is actually a slow and deliberate process. 34:25 - "This guy is insane!" - Yeah, his name is Jet Li and he's a former Wushu champion, turned actor. This movie was his debut to American cinema (just like Enter The Dragon was Bruce Lee's). If you're curious and want to add his films to your reactions, check out Fist of Legend (1994), Kiss of the Dragon (2001), The One (2001), and The Forbidden Kingdom (2008). Heck, go ahead and add Bruce Lee's masterpiece, Enter the Dragon (1973). 43:30 - Definitely my favorites in order are 4-3-2-1. That's why the tagline for this movie's poster is "The Gang's All Here". Glad you enjoyed LW4 Cassie!
Not really for the 92 - push the slide back a bit, flip the lever down, and pull the slide forward. I used to have a Beretta 92g that I practiced this with for S&G after watching this... it's entirely doable, especially for someone of Jet Li's speed and skill.
Kiss of the Dragon is a special film. I love that movie, and it’s probably one of my favorite Jet Li characters, though I haven’t seen all of his movies.
Normally when I see a movie franchise this long it has jumped the shark in the second or third movie. The Lethal Weapon series keeps on knockin' it out of the park.
When you said Jet Li was the best martial artist you've ever seen, I suddenly realized the movie you would really, really enjoy: Ip Man. It's a historical martial arts film set in China, about Bruce Lee's real-life master who also happens to be one of the kindest and most compassionate men ever shown on film. While there are bound to be some parts you'll have to hide your eyes for, you will definitely use the word "tender" about forty times over the course of the movie.
Leo adds a dimension to these movies that makes them what they are. Without him, they'd still be a fun romp, but ultimately not that special. Whoever came up with the idea deserves a special Oscar :)
i agree. His character should not work. It should take away from the franchise. But just the opposite. Its that something special and adds just that little bit of magic to make these movies so lovable.
Can’t rank these films, they’re just great. They have a lot of heart, one of the best line in the series, encapsulates the series “I’ve got 3 beautiful kids-I love them an’ They’re yours!” It always said way more than it had too, bc it’s true, Martin had moments w/ Trish like when he explained the gold pen, that Rog wasn’t there for. I grew up watching this series and loved it then to now. Genuinely can’t wait til my kids are old enough to see an understand them. 🙂 the sad part about any future film is the director of all 4 films passed away in 2021, Richard Donner(Superman, the omen, Maverick) he was integral to these films.
There's a Lethal Weapon 5 in the works. There's a screenplay and they were ready to go but things got put on hold when Richard Donner, who directed all four movies, passed away (he stopped directing a while ago, would probably be more of an executive producer on the new movie). Now it looks like they're moving forward with Mel directing.
I do love 4 the best, just because it feels the most emotionally mature. We have a ton of action films about angry men who are grieving but find bromance, like the original was, but there aren’t nearly as many about men who are middle-aged and dealing with the complications of fatherhood, the penalties of age, and the warmths of family.
It's definitely one of the most underrated franchises. I love it so much and it was a staple is my childhood growing up. I was so happy to see this one in theatres.
For CASSIE's scary October, may I recommend: *FROM DUSK TIL DAWN* (1996), BLADE (1998), *UNDERWORLD* (2003), and ... THE DEVIL'S ADVOCATE (1997) starring Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino.
"On the take" - Taking bribes, corruption. Jet Li is such a great villain, as he's traditionally the hero and aside from a couple movies like Romeo Must Die, he never really took off in America, was huge in China. Very underrated martial artist. The directory said Li was so damn fast, they had to tell him to slow down because the camera wasn't fully capturing his moves. FYI - Forklift, not tractor and rebar, not pipe.
My father, brother, and I love watching all 4 movies together every few years. I was so happy when my nephew was old enough and we all watched it together. Lethal Weapon is just the best guys kind of movie there is.
Personally , I rank them in the order they were released. LW 1 because it introduced us to the characters ( plus that final fight was great with the triangle choke). LW 4 is last because I hated to see it end. I was 11 when the first movie came out. These guys were my heros.
I remember going to see this at the cinema, it's pretty funny at 14 I thought why are they doing a 4th film of this really old franchise from the 80's, yet the third was only six years prior. Funny how your perspective of time changes as you get older. Great series and often overlooked these days.
I always love the ending of the movie when the song Why Can't We Be Friends plays while the credits are rolling. I especially love all the pictures of the actors and the production staff appear on the screen to show the audience how close knit they all were when they filmed all four of the Lethal Weapon movies together. Seeing as at the time it might possibly be the last in the series, the ending scene and the credits wrapped up a happy and bittersweet culmination of this amazing film series.
I knew Cassie would love this movie. Been waiting for her to get to number four. I don’t care what anyone says. No denying that the first two are classics, but I like the style of movies 3-4 and being a slight bit lighter in tone while still being in line with the series. And the family theme that has been growing since movie 1 finds its happy conclusion in this one. The fourth movie is probably my most rewatchable one of the series, hands down. But overall an amazing series.
As series go, this is one of the best from start to finish. A story of two friends, and their lives. To omit any of the films would have been an injustice and absolute shame. No one else could have told the story of Froggy...and make it so heartfelt. It really brought all of this, all of the experiences over 4 films, together. Need I say more, except for one thing: FAMILY.
Two other Jet Li movies you should see are "The One" and "Kiss of the Dragon". If you want a combo of Jet Li and Jackie Chan, "The Forbidden Kingdom" never fails to entertain!
You haven't entered the rabbit hole that is Chinese martial arts movies - where Jackie Chan and Jet Li are the kings. Jet's first entry in the American market was this one, but his first lead role was "Romeo Must Die" with the late Aaliyah. I think you would like that one. Jet also appeared as the Emperor in the Disney live-action version of "Mulan." He has been semi-retired for some time now. I would recommend "Hero" from his later entries. Of course "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" with Chow Yun-Fat, Michelle Yeoh, and Zhang Ziyi is can't-miss. Jet's earlier movies may not necessarily to be your taste, but the first two "Once Upon a Time in China" films would be a great sampler (I don't recommend the later sequels). If you want to go classic, Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon" (his only North American movie) and "The Big Boss" would be tops on my list, or Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master." You would recognize the type of film-making Americans have copied from Hong Kong in some of the movies this past half-century. On another tangent, since you loved "The Departed" watch the first "Infernal Affairs" movie on which it is based.
I have a soft spot for 3 as it introduced Lorna. I also find its the most re-watchable, at least for me. The ending of 4 is my favorite though. So I would put 3 and 4 about the same, then 2 then 1. However they are all great. Which is rare for a series.
I knew from the start that you would love this movie for the same reason a lot of people didn't. Several friends back in the day said this one was too sappy, but the touchy feely is what gets you the most. That's why I love your reactions. You can laugh at the ridiculous parts and yet get so involved that you forget it's just a movie and get emotionally involved with the characters. That's the best way to truly appreciate any film. Great job as always.
Jet Li is superb. If you enjoyed his fighting in this movie please watch more of his movies. You won't regret it. He's great at playing a bad guy but he's amazing as the hero. You'll love him.
This movie ties up the series so well and is so heartwarming. After the scene where Butters says that he grew up sitting on the floor because of all the bullets flying through the neighborhood you said something along the lines of "I think that's the truth" which made me think you would probably enjoy a movie from 1991 called "Grand Canyon". Danny Glover is in this movie along with Steve Martin. I hope you give this movie a look at some point. Going back on your reaction of Lethal Weapon 4 I think all of us regulars could predict how you would react to it but the fact that it is truly genuine makes it all great.
I was waiting to see this reaction because I knew it would be awesome. Lethal Weapon is one of the few franchises to get it right with their sequels. It helps that so much of the same crew have been involved in them which keeps things consistent. The growth of the characters has been amazing as well. Glad you enjoyed it!
Jet Li is beyond supernatural. I saw him do a showcase years ago and he is actually that fast. I spoke briefly with him afterwards and he's incredibly soft spoken and polite. I guess when you can walk into a room and beat seven bells out of anyone in seconds it makes you really polite.
Ahh man, these movies. I said it when you watched the first one, but this series just gets better with each instalment. Each one builds off of the previous one, and adds to the chaos and the comedy and the camaraderie with brilliant characters bouncing off each other... It's just fantastic.
This movie is especially dear to my heart. It was one of the last movies I saw with my cousin/best friend TJ in theaters. TJ took his own life on Thanksgiving night 2016. Thank you so much I needed this and I love tuning in every week to watch movies with you. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re amazing. FYI, TJ‘s favorite movie was Good will hunting. I sincerely hope it’s on your list of movies to watch.
I'm really sorry about your cousin. I was supposed to go watch this movie with my uncle, but he died of liver cirrhosis and stomach cancer before we had a chance. Cassie mentioned in her reaction to Good morning Vietnam that she has seen Good Will hunting multiple times, so unfortunately I don't think we get to see her watching that movie. It is one of those movies that I think everyone should watch.
I always ranked the first one my favorite, strictly for nostalgia purposes. I watched it so much on VHS as a kid. If I had to pick today, this might slightly be at the top, since I have had a family now. Not to mention the addition of Chris Rock and Jet Li. I love all these movies and the characters and consider them all one great story.
The second this popped up on my feed, I said, "Ah, she's going to absolutely love this one." And I was right. One of the things I love about these movies, is that the friend/family group gets bigger with every film. There's actually a Lethal Weapon 5 and 6, but you'd have to start a whole other show to get there. Lol. I know you were looking Jet Li harsh since he was the villain. But a movie where he's the hero that you'd like is Unleashed along with Morgan Freeman. Jet Li's best film is Fearless.
Yes, we all feel the way you do about Lethal Weapon. Good story writing is important and the actors who can make it come to life are what make the difference.
No rankings here. They all have their appeal. They do get let serious overall but there’s no issue there. The theme of family in the fourth one was inevitable as a part of the growth of these characters. They are a family. As far as the movies, they thrive because they develop very good villains. Each unique, but equally reprehensible. But I think you’re right Cassie, the addition of Leo Getz in the last three may push them forward. But that original one was the best of them as far as a real cop movie. It all depends on what the viewer appreciates more.
The story about "froggy" always gets to me, and any other actor would have made those lines incredibly corny. Joe Pesci is a national treasure.
Joe Pesci is the man. The frog story fits his character tbh.
That speech never fails to chop onions around me.
Leo truly becomes the heart of the series after 2. He's the weird crazy uncle in their expanding family 😅
Me too.
That's a measure of a high caliber actor. To take the Froggy material and make it freakin' McBeth.
The fact that Leo gives the most heartfelt monologue in the series is a fantastic surprise. Joe Pesci is incredible.
And it's a very relevant one for anyone who feels that it's a betrayal to someone they've lost to move on with someone new
It’s funny because he is usually play a role of a gangster.

Oh Cassie, I love your reactions. Pure Gold!!
All four are strong contenders.
The first was by far the best. 2 and 4 were meh and 3 was boring. Without Jet Li, 4 would be the worst.
Joe Pesci's know for his crazy tough guy roles and some really comedically timed slapstick type stuff, but he's an ACTOR when you give him a scene like the one he had with Mel Gibson at the cemetery scene. That was such a good monologue they gave Leo!
Whatya know? You really are a funny guy!!! 😂😂😂
Riggs: I could use a siren right now!
Murtaugh: AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
LMAO
The irony that the grandson of the family saved by rodger, saved the new grandfather rodger and his family.
Great point!
I totally agree. I’m so glad you liked them all ❤ have a nice evening💛💕❣️
I suggest the movie "Ransom" (1996). Also with Mel Gibson and Rene Russo (as a married couple).
yes - this movie rocked me to my core.
So good🎉
Definitely a movie to show people just how well Mel Gibson can act.
That movie is ruthless.
Amazing movie. Conspiracy theory is a very under rated movie too
4 will forever be my favourite because of Jet Li. He just upped the villain game so much!
I think you forgot about the actor's strike.
As excited as I am to see another LW movie (especially one directed by Mel Gibson), it will sadly (99.9%) likely not feature Leo Getz...Still gonna see it but I wish they'd try like Scorcese and DeNiro did to get Pesci to do even a small cameo.
@@Rosedach Mel Gibson doesn't care about the strike. He is working on Flight Risk with Wahlberg and Passion Of The Christ 2.
I love watching Cassie react to these movies, but I absolutely LOVE Cassie reacting to Leo. Makes me so happy :D
This was the first Lethal Weapon movie I saw. It still cracks me up to this day and the action / choreography with Jet Li is insane.
Despite the fact that the fight scenes in this movie showcase about 5% of what Jet Li usually did in his Hong Kong films.
Fights done by the great Cory yuen!
Yeah it's sad how he's doing now.
I hope they do a 5th before anybody… uh, “can’t”
*except Mel Gibson is atrocious 😔
As usual, Cass slays it outta the park with this emotional reaction. It's been such fun watching you react to these. And she even LOL'd as well. Brilliant. It's a far cry from the days of Shawshank when I first started watching - she's family now. LOL ❤
I’m a 38 year old man and I’ve seen this movie dozens of times… cry every time. This movie is so beautiful. 4 is by far the best.
BEST MOVIE ENDING EVER! there is no debate, no other movie does everything this does AND manages such a happy ending, it wraps everything up perfectly, other series had new sequels that all get progressively worse, its truely an exceptional acheivement
Couldn't have put it better myself!
You should try watching Lord of the Rings, homie
@@GorramT LOTR is good but it has like 9 endings that take half an hour, its in dire need of a trim, where as hereits a five minuite skit tacked on as the perfect cherry top off the franchise
@@stevenr6397 this has to be the most blasphemous comment I’ve ever read, lol
@@GorramTLOTR is seriously overrated and WAY too drawn out. It's not blasphemy to say the truth. Good franchise: yes. Masterpiece: NO
I seen this in the movies with my mom right after my grandmother passed. Cause mom mom loved mel Gibson and it cheered my mom up
Jet Li is amazing. You should definitely check out some of his other movies.
oh yeah definietly, i reccomend "Unleashed" (2005)
Fearless! One of Li's best movies!
Then of course The One for just pure great action!
Kiss of the dragon, romeo must die etc, he has so many awesome movies.
The One, Romeo must die, and Cradle to the grave are fun
@@WolfFireheartgood call on Fearless. It's my favorite Jet Li movie by a long shot.
Second that!
Third that!
Fourth that, beautiful movie
All Leo wanted was that hug at the end.
Jackson.
She needs to watch with Carly
The actor who plays the bad guy is Jet Li, he usually plays good guys in his films. If you can watch a film called Kiss of the Dragon with him.
and he was too fast for the other Actors, so he has to slow down his Movement :)
Kiss of the Dragon is a special film. I love that movie, and it’s probably one of my favorite Jet Li characters, though I haven’t seen all of his movies.
Cradle 2 the Grave is a definite guilty pleasure. So much fun
Romeo Must Die
Hero
Fearless
(Kiss of the Dragon also has a place in my heart, as well)
Riggs: I tried to persuade him to take money
😂😂😂 that was the shipping crate in part 2 if u remember
Grew up with these movies.
This series is just a feel good fun time, like most of the 80s and 90s movies was
The Murtaugh house is Clark Griswold neighbors house in Christmas Vacation
There's a Lethal Weapon 5 in the works. There's a screenplay and they were ready to go but things got put on hold when Richard Donner, who directed all four movies, passed away (he stopped directing a while ago, would probably be more of an executive producer on the new movie). Now it looks like they're moving forward with Mel directing.
The way this one has Cassie crying, maybe it should be called “Lethal Babies 4.” 😂
Second that. Good choices 👍!
UNDERWORLD
Cassie: I knew you would love this! The ending gets me every time, and I knew you would love Froggy and the ending.
You're the best movie date ever!
The froggy story😭😭😭 Gets me every time. Best heartwarming ending of the 90s.
Yep, its rare a perfect series of movies. I love that serie so much
Yeah, I knew you’d love the ending of this one.
😊
i remember the movie theater howling with laughter in many scenes. Great closer to this series.
The Lethal Weapon journey is a story with four parts. And I love them all.
Also, I liked your commercial. You're so good.
Kiss of the dragon is THE shit! Love that movie!
His best movies are from outside of Hollywood. Such as Hero (2002) & Fist of Legend.
She's love drama, meanwhile my mom prefer action when watching movie
the "froggy" story always makes me tear up. You can say a lot about Leo but you cant say hes a bad character.
4 has to be my favourite, it just completes the series so well.
"And he's the best martial arts expert I've ever seen." Yep. That's Jet Li.
for me it's 2, 1, 4 and 3... but 4 holds a special place in my heart because I grew up with it and always roleplayed a cop as a kid because of it.
I knew she would love this, I have a sixth sense about which movies she’s gonna like. And I knew she would love this one. 😊
Jet Li is superb. If you enjoyed his fighting in this movie please watch more of his movies. You won't regret it. He's great at playing a bad guy but he's amazing as the hero. You'll love him.
Jack Nicholson says "Shut your pie hole, we're working here!" in Anger Management.
Another Mel Gibson movie I'm sure it's perfect for this channel would be "Forever Young". A very underated fantasy romantic drama.
That’s a lovely film.
That would be a great one for Cassie and her sister to react to.
Jet Li is beyond supernatural. I saw him do a showcase years ago and he is actually that fast. I spoke briefly with him afterwards and he's incredibly soft spoken and polite. I guess when you can walk into a room and beat seven bells out of anyone in seconds it makes you really polite.
Thank you, Cassie, it felt like watching the film for the first time again.
I love the fact that she loves the Leathal Weapon movies. Definitely one of the best action comedy series.
Ahh man, these movies. I said it when you watched the first one, but this series just gets better with each instalment. Each one builds off of the previous one, and adds to the chaos and the comedy and the camaraderie with brilliant characters bouncing off each other... It's just fantastic.
Leo Getz has always been my favorite part of these movies. His 'Akay.... akay' sticks in your brain.
Fist of Legend is amazing also.
@@joemckim1183 it is. One of his best earlier roles for sure. Same fight choreographer went on to do The Matrix.
@@blytheguy7510 Fist of Legend is basically a remake of Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury.
@@joemckim1183 yep
Shut your pie hole, comes from the old 'Shut Your Cake Hole', so I guess it comes down to if you like cake or pie more. lol
A Mel Gibson poll would be great. Ransom is a good movie Perfect for your channel as many on this chat suggest.
