Spectacular SURVIVOR CLASS garage find, driven just 30K miles, straight
rust-free body, beautifully finished in Emerald green metallic with
outstanding color coordinated factory original leather and cloth
upholstery, gleaming original chrome, pot metal, rubber, trim and
details, 392ci HEMI engine with 325 horsepower, pushbutton
Torqueflight transmission, power steering, brakes, windows, 6-way
power seat, and antenna. RARE to find an Imperial as innocent and
original as this. Drives as nice as it looks. Car is located in Ontario, CA
MORE about this fine Imperial:
RARE FIND: This 1957 Crown Imperial Southampton, driven just 30K
miles, is one of the finest “Forward Look” Imperial in existence.
WELL DECORATED: This car is well branded and has a lot of bling -Four
Imperial eagles, seven Imperial scripts, and ten gold crowns.
SURVIVOR CLASS: To find any classic car with a FACTORY
ORIGINAL interior as well preserved as this is extremely rare.
I always say, “QUALITY AND COLOR,” but when you have both quality
and color, you have it all. EXTRA POINTS for the rich shade of metallic
emerald green, which enhances the style lines of the car from every
angle, in every light.
“MATCHY MATCHY”: Few cars are a BEAUTIFULLY COLOR
COORIDNATED inside and out as this Imperial. Everything that can be
color keyed is, including the instrument cluster and two-tone steering
wheel.
CHARMED LIFE: The two previous owners were wealthy businessmen.
According to the daughter of the second owner, he acquired it from a
close family friend in 1980.
This 1957 Imperial is MORE than an American classic … MORE than midcentury modern masterpiece, it’s a WORLD CLASS NATIONAL TREASURE
MOST MODERN LUXURY CAR OF 1957: In the wondrous realm of midcentury motoring, the 1957 Imperial is in a class all by itself. Unlike its
fine luxury car competitors, Cadillac and Lincoln, the Imperial was
completely redesigned for the 1957 model year giving it the distinction
of being the most modern luxury car to roll of an assembly line that
year.
MUSCLE CAR IN DISGUISE: The performance of the 1957 Imperial
further sets it apart from its rivals. I’m a huge fan of both 1957 Cadillacs
and Lincolns … BUT … the 1957 Imperial is a really muscle car in luxury
car clothing. The brute force of the 392 HEMI engine paired with the
agility of the torsion bar front suspension … leaves every other
competitor car in the dust!
STAR OF THE FORWARD LOOK: The 1957 Imperial is the top of the line
luxury offering among the cars manufactured by Chrysler Corporation
between 1956 and 1959 promoted as “CARS OF THE FORWARD LOOK.”
SPACE AGE STYLE: How appropriate that the Crown Imperial would
have a tiara as a crowning touch. Inside and out, chrome trim wraps up
and over the roof finishing into a perfect point, punctuating the
supreme space age style and status of the 1957 Imperial, the epitome
of a mid-century modern luxury car. The chrome Saturn rings
surrounding the taillights are the perfect “fly-me-to-the-moon”
finishing touch. Авто/Мото
WOW what a beauty.
A green sedan has no right to be sooo stunning!
Every detail down to the *very subtle* point on the rear of the tiara.
The buyer won’t know whether to drive it or put it in the living room. ✨💫
This car made me proud to have been born in 1957.
Superb car ! That colour is stunning 🤩
What a beauty! Boy, sure can see now where Cadillac got their inspiration for the 63 Coupe de Ville headlights and grill!
Who doesn’t love Charles Phoenix.
I know!
Well. Really doesn't get better. This is just everything. Also, once the glass suppliers figured out how to do compound curves, the car manufacturers went crazy with the bubble windshields and backlites...augmented on this car with the curved side glass...so much style it hurts
Heaven wish mobile! I wish to heaven I could afford such a beautiful elegant machine. Thank you for showing us your beautiful one of a kind time capsule. Thank you again.
The Imperial was truly the epitome of style & luxury!!! This car is absolutely gorgeous!!! Millburn Drysdale would be proud to ride in this beauty!! 👍👍🙂
I agree Christopher!
OML! Yes! Loved that show and to see that car. Funny scene with it was when "Miss Drysdale" was a drivin' it and cousin Pearl yodeled. She almost wreaked the car!
@@michaeltaylor1603 I loved cousin Pearl!!
Mr Drysdale!!
Margaret Drysdale would be equally proud.
Arguably the best car you could buy in 1957. The engineering was far superior. Fun Factoid that's 100% true. After a while, demolition derbies started adding a footnote: "NO IMPERIALS." They were so sturdy that they usually won.
Yep! I heard that.
This car has the earliest example of curved side glass. All cars up to this point and through 1964 were all straight side glass. A true classic. 🥇
I remember when curved glass was introduced and what a big deal it was.
The 1961 Lincoln had curved side glass, which "went straight" in '64, to reduce costs..
Rambler adopted curved side glass in 1963.
Always loved the trunk
they were as big as some apts
@@claycoates5056 the fake spare tire
I have no words.
Actually an Imperial Crown Southampton. "Crown Imperials" were the limos built by Ghia in Italy - with an original list of 12,000, quickly raised to 15,000 - 2.5x to almost 3x this car. Total nitpick, I know. Still, it's very impressive and 1957 was Imperial's strongest challenge - and the only time it came as close to Lincoln. Yes, Cad production nearly doubled the others, but it was their biggest scare of the era and they would not see this threat again domestically for another 30 some years. Really is beautiful.
It would have been nice to have seen that 325 horse power Hemi Engine. Why not pop the hood? In 1957, Cadillac outsold Lincoln, Packard, Continental & Imperial combined. The quality & style of this Crown Imperial Southhampton is superb!
I wish they would have shown the engine compartment. But still it’s an incredible survivor.
Absolutely gorgeous!
That is a beautiful green colour! 😳😲🥰😍😎
It really is!
i don't know where you find them Charles. Breath taking machine. The green tone is stunning.
That is a stunning example of the Imperial advantage for 1957! The color combination is magnificent!
This car is to die for. The emerald green color is beyond stunning!
Whoever owned this beauty, knew the LOVE Chrysler designers/builders put into it. The chrome perfectly accents the Emerald Green. I have always loved Imperial's . The name says it ALL. We NEED that font of optimism and those lovely subtle touches of elegance & beauty. the styling is very well proportioned and balanced. Thanks Charles for a wonderful video!
Imagine in September 56 when this space mobile rolled down roads for the first time. Holy Cow
It blew everything else away and then stayed the same for 6 years.
Stunning!!!. First year for Imperials own body and what a body! Upsetting quite a few, top speed was faster than fuel injected Corvettes. First year the name Crown was used other than limos. Hence famous Crown Coupe.
Thanks for posting this video and not referring to this car as a 1957 Chrysler Imperial as many other people erroneously do. 1957 was the best sales year Imperial had as a separate make, and with that styling, I can see why.
Beautiful Imperial!!! 👍👍
I drive a `58 surviver in "shell pink". In Germany nobody knows her but everybody loves her - me too !
I’m in love!! Again because of you!
Dang that car is FANTASTIC!!! My skinflint grandpa who only drove tuna boat Chryslers from the 70s-80s used to brag about his 300G he drove to Ole Miss and we laughed, and he did his best to correct us but we didn’t get it.
The Incomparable Imperial. Charles, I just bought a 1964 Imperial Crown Coupe 2-door! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's stunning, Charles. Thank you!
This car was designed by Virgil Exner, one of his great masterpieces.
What a beauty! Thanks for sharing!
And a magnificent flight swept deck lid indeed
To answer a question about this gorgeous car, dual headlamps we're an option on serveral cars in 57 as some states had not yet approved of them, so with quad lights they could only be shipped to states that allowed them.
Outstanding! I am sure it will male a happy new curator soon. I knew a man who owned several models, including a convertible. I think he had three. Spectacular stuff, even though I was and am into muscle cars. Thanks for sharing the enthusiasm as always!
Too much pure wonderment to digest in one viewing!
Wow just wow... that thing is super clean and original... would cost triple to restore one..
Breathtaking!
Magnificent Charles.
The Imperial has the most modern exterior styling of all 1957 models.
🙀👐👏wonderful ‘57 imperial CP!👍TY!
True art. Hard to imagine that is what cars looked like in the 1950's post war riches
we need cars like this to come back
screw understated luxury
if i had enough money to buy a luxury car i'd want a big flashy space ship on whitewalls
What a terrific review, Charles.
I MUST CORRECT YOU...
The following year, 1958, Chrysler commissioned the Ghia limousine company of Turin, Italy to make a few stretch Imperial limousines. At $15,000 they were expensive. But the limousines were known as Crown Imperials. The production sedan, like this bad boy, was an Imperial Crown.
Gorgeous.
Beautiful vehicle.
Charles....it's been a while! I love the Imperial.....stunning. I am so disappointed in the video, however. Not a SINGLE utter of the words "I knoooowwww". WTF? A video without your signature phrase.....I'm devastated but I will go on. Take care!
A restrained review for a restrained Imperial...
Just Fabulous
Class dripping off this gem!
A truly magnificent vehicle. If only MoPar had not had the terrible-but-true reputation for poor rust protection they'd have sold more.
Every time the Imperial script or crown appears, I hear the Imperial fanfare in my head... (Imperial margarine, that is..!)
Hats off to designer Vergil Exner.
Just gorgeous!
Absolutely breathtaking❣️❣️❣️
fantastic Car all of the things stated were true and that motor had a rating of one horse power per inch and also delivered about 8 MPG She was fast also from 0 to 60 in 8 sec. or less fantastic i new of two of these cars delivered to my members of my family they were big i think about 4500 LBs thank you for showing this car
Wow, Beautiful!!!!
BEAUTIFUL CAR
Gorgeous, the ultimate luxury for '57.💚
It really is!
Gorgeous
This treasure epitomizes American engineering and styling excellence before people decided that the government should run (ruin) everything. Breathtaking example of what a great country and a great people can produce.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
I used to think the 1964 Chrysler Imperial was the most beautiful car ever built in this country; but after watching this video...well...I'm not so sure anymore. Chrysler and nobody builds anything so classy anymore.
🤠
I have been looking for a 58.... but I am thinking about this.
RARE to find one like this!
@cherylean6394……I have a 2 door 1957 Crown Imperial, desert rose color. The car lived its entire life in the Arizona desert, no rust but a baked interior from the hot sun. Runs/drives but needs restoration. Contact me.
Back when you could get real colors, not black dark gray, silver and white. Ya,
❤I Love it
I love love love your channel......Hate correcting you because I respect you so much.......It's an Imperial Crown South Hampton, not a Crown Imperial South Hampton. The "Crown Imperial" name only applys to the Ghia built limos built in Italy for Imperial, those stretched beauties are known as Crown Imperial.....This is a Imperial Crown and the South Hampton denotes it's hardtop styling rather than being a Sedan. The LeBaron is the other model offered. Just to get terminology correct, it can be confusing.
thank u for letting me know : )
How was Chrysler able to use dual headlights in 1957 when it wasn't an industry approved standard till 1958?
Ahead of its time!
Nice.
It's very handsome I wish I have money to buy it but no such car in South Africa
Was this filmed in Hancock Park? This is the car I want to whisk us away to our honeymoon. MORE.
The drivers side rear door needs some attention. The door/hinge adjustment seems to be really off, as it's sticking out from the rest of the body at the bottom.
Innocent and original!
This is an Imperial Crown Southampton. Crown Imperials were limousines built in Italy by Ghia.
When I think my father had a red version of this car when I was 5 years old and he sold it for a Pontiac (which was very beautiful) it makes me sick! What I wouldn't do to have this car again!
❤❤❤❤❤😮
Howbout a Sunday drive?
I somehow missed this episode a month ago. 🤷🏼♂️
How come it was allowed to have 4 headlights as a 57?
How much?
Charles has listed it for $49 K (right up top).
Would you consider doing a Karman Ghia?
It has look of space craft.
I KNOW!!!
I know…I know🎉
