After 10 years of owning a beautiful old 159 ti Guigiaro, I’ve just had to send it to the big scrapyard in the sky and I’m still going through the five stages of grief. It was like saying goodbye to an old family pet. Drove the nuts off it for ten years and loved every second. Yes, when it needed repairing it was expensive, and yes the bottom end of the gearbox is utter shite. But! BUT! Man it was a wonderful car! To drive, to sit in, to look at. The amount of times it started a conversation with strangers(!). As Top Gear used to say: ‘You can’t be a petrolhead until you’ve owned an Alfa!’.
Cracking video/review. I have a 2010 159 1750 Tbi Ti, had it just over two years now and love it like the day i got it which is unusual for me as i'm usually bored after a year, nearly didn't buy a 159 because of the engines, didn't want a diesel, didn't want the heavy tax or the timing chain problems of the V6, scared of the 2.2 because of the timing chain issues, that really just left the 1750 Tbi, really stretched my 4K budget to get mine, i paid £5500 (guy was originally asking 7K), but knowing what i know now and that i'd have been able to do the 2.2 timing chain myself (it's a big job but pretty straight forward) i'd have gone for the 2.2 and not paid the premium for the 1750 Tbi, it's been re-mapped to 240 so goes pretty well, the M32 box is shite, had to get mine rebuilt but the change into 3rd is still horrible, had to get my injectors done which was a swine of a job (they are right down the back of the block). Despite it's faults and the odd engine light now and again i absolutely love the thing, got my sights on a Porsche 928 maybe next year but i recon the 928 thing will wear off and i'll probably end up keeping the 159 if i'm honest.

I've owned an 08 3.2l 159 Ti Sportswagon in New Zealand Aotearoa for 3 months, I paid 3.9k 2nd hand and have spent 3.9k in repairs Lower arms and upper bushes tires. Im 18y/o and my insurance is 1370 per year😭 Drive quality is a dream and I always smile when I look back at the car. It makes me intrigued to travel to Italy 💚🤍❤
Hey man! i’ve picked up an 07 3.2L 159 sport wagon afew days ago! i’m in australia, but because i bought it from a different state, re registering is gonna cost me an arm and a leg hahah. I honestly can’t wait to start driving her. She’s just sitting patiently in my garage lmao
ayy fellow kiwi! i have a 2.4 159 sedan too - im about to do a roadie from christchurch up to northland lol im hoping nothing breaks. Put on new brakes and a done a major service recently so shes running pretty sweet
I've a 2.2 159, with the much maligned selespeed gearbox. Out here in Malaysia (tropics), they suffer from the heat hence I've had issues with the wiring harness, ECU fault (a particular IC likes to burn), and the Selesepeed can be such a pain. BUT, when shes behaving, and shes pushing on the highway on some B road, shes pretty damned amazing. Oh, and I had mine with the Autodelta Supercharger. Makes a heck of a difference!
Nah man keep it, longer, and fully modify it, such loke new engine and wheels and do a full series, especially there isnt many series on alfas ehen it comes to mods so you could be the first
Give me a shout if you are ever selling this mate, planning doing all the mods you have already done 😂 looking for a later Ti with alcantara seats but they are rare
No electric issues, but still bumper cables on the back seat😂 No but jokes aside, that car looks just awesome and it has own style which is different than the closest competitiors. I really like it🫶🏻

These cars are timeless, they're one of the only cars I've come across that sell way higher than their average second-hand market price.
In Bulgaria it's quite the opposite, I was very surprised. Alfas go as low as two times less than their audi / bmw counterparts, it's crazy.

I will never sell my 159 lol, I've driven a lot of modern cars but it just feels special. Mine is also a automatic.
W car overall! my 2.4jtd with the other manual is much the same with the clunky gear change - especially getting into 1st when it’s cold
I just sold my 159 Ti 2 days ago man because it was that scrappy automatic paddle shifter thingy that breaks all the time lol wish it was a manual
