  • This video will give a lesson on installing new 6 volt deep cycle batteries into an electric boat like a Duffy boat. Battery part number is Trojan T-105 6 V 225 AH @ C20. The video begins after the old batteries have been removed from a 48v Duffy and the battery compartment has been cleaned. A Duffy or ElectraCraft boat can be a 48 volt system that can use eight 6 volt batteries GC2 wired in series - eight x 6v = 48 volts.
To start, always disconnect from shore power. Take pictures of current battery wiring.
    Use gloves and eye protection.
Disconnect last negative from battery pack. Then disconnect first positive.
The stainless steel hex nuts are 5/16 or 1/2. Use nylon ratchet or electrical tape your metal tools for safety. Inspect inter connector cables and replace with 4 awg or 2 awg welding stranded copper wire if needed. Otherwise wire brush them and use a grease (NO-OX) to prevent future corrosion.
After installation, plug boat in again and test charging system is engaging. Your should see greater than 52 volts

Would it be possible to make 12 volts off the first bank of 6 volts that are in series? My customer just got a Duffy for his wife that has 16 batteries at 48 volts so im assuming 8 in series and 8 in parallel??
