In today’s society I feel like I’m arguing with every gala and his mate over what I have to be proud about to be Australian. I don’t know how to explain in words to these people. I just love Australia.
Born 1950 life in Australia was great, fun, laughter and respect for our family and the law. Now 2023 to much Violence and no respect for others / bring back control in the class room.
This song has always meant a fair deal to me. All us 'true blue Aussies relate' (ya all know what I mean) But.......wbhen my Dad (Gordon Wykes, a true blue Aussie bloke, a Vietnam vet, an amazing bloke and step dad to me who was left, forgotten, suffered and passed away from his war ghosts and demons!) This song was his all time fav! Played at his funeral and brings me to tears but also makes me smile hugely, everytime I hear it! This song to me, is MY DAD, MY CHILDHOOD, MY COUNTRY! Wish time could go back before our beautiful Aussie country became a worry. Our leaders should have listened to Mr. John Williamson, 😊 why do you think peoplé?
