Did this put you off from voting? Sure did for Boris. If even the ex prime minister who introduced voter ID can forget his, do we need a rethink? Or maybe we should forget it ha ha.
The elections on Thursday weren't for parliamentary elections. You need to engage more in politics. Whether you like it or not it's the system in place, and people not engaging makes things worse.
Previously, I've got involved in counting these votes and I saw more "spoilt" papers on the Police Commissioners vote by percentage, compared to any other type of voting i.e the average person saw this PCC role as a waste of time & money !!
We had one in our area last week (Watford) and never even knew about it until I was given two bits of paper to put my mark on. PCC's? Total waste of time and our money.
Well, I've watched your channel now for some time and I enjoy hearing your point of view on life generally and as I'm going to be a pension drawing person this summer it's great to hear from people who've experienced life rather than an ideology driven robot that seems to unfortunately have taken over the running of many things now in this modern world we live in, however when it comes to voting on public matters that will have an impact on everyone I passionately support the right for each and everyone of us to take up this chance to have a democratic vote which has been hard fought for by our forebears. I also find it annoying that we have to produce photo proof of who we are but sadly we are now living in a very different world than when I was a child, one which has many dangers and requires us to be always on our guard to try to minimise the risks to all of us and so producing such proof of identity is maybe not such a bad thing against modern day criminals who seek take advantage of our system's and country we have long taken for granted. So come on let's get ourselves organised and prepared for a good voter turnout at the general election whatever you're political persuasion - organise your postal vote or dig out that photo ID ready to exercise your right to vote 👍
The reason why voting is a waste of time is because of organizations like the WEF who brag about putting their people in positions of power around the world. Truedau is such a person and there are many others. Canada is a democratic country but here we have proof that democracy is a facade.
I had someone around last week while I was hanging blinds, kept them here for half an hour " helping " just to waste their time 😂 You only see them once in a blue moon and when it comes to id they send out a sheet which I bring with me and if there's any hassle I would just bugger off and not vote. Incidentally I only have to walk across the road to vote so no skin off my nose 😊👍🇮🇪
Currently; In Devon, you're being asked to vote for a "Police & crime Commissioner" which is a simple bureaucratic appointment of a central spokesperson. In around 18 months, the people of Devon & Cornwall will lose their Councillors & will be asked to vote 'again' for a central Mayor. What this means is that local powers of decision making will be removed, & replaced with a much broader County Council, who take their orders from central government. The Mayor will make all decisions & there will be no public recourse. Central government will claim they have no authority over the Mayor, despite the Mayor taking their orders from central government. This is the centralisation of power (Fascism).
First Past The Post electoral system needs to be scrapped and replaced with proportional representation. There is about 8 million people not registered to vote for the next general election. Proportional representation would mean no more safe seats for MPs and no need for tactical voting.
Snap, I had no idea who they are and what their views are. No information provided to my household either. I suppose I could have 'searched', but did not have the inclination to do so. So I felt I could not vote for someone I did not know anything about. A lazy election deserved a poor turnout.
Hardly any fraud was taking place, the Tories introduced it because they thought fewer younger people would have valid photo ID, and bias the vote for the Tories. It didn't work, but they'd made it law by then. Just register for a postal vote, makes it very easy to vote in your own time.
I worked at a Polling Station and it wasn't a problem with people producing ID. Very few people didn't have ID and those that didn't mostly returned later. However two very senior people turned up without ID and had made a tremendous effort to get to the Polling station and were not prepared to come back. I feel there should be some discretion in those cases on the probability that two senior citizens on walkers are very unlikely to be committing a fraudulent vote. These are the very people that make an effort to vote.
@@An.Individual Yes, I suppose we shouldn't generalise. Was it voting fraud? I knew the people through my work, but still had to follow the rules. Guess that's what they are there for to stop fraud, but one the parties lost two votes!
i did not vote, i wanted to but had no information about anyone, always used to get some sort of leaflets with policies etc. if even one of them sent a leaflet or something then they would have had my vote.
Yes I know what you mean! I just put on the Ballot Paper”I do not consent”. Ashby vs White 1703 is the reference. It has to be counted. I despise them all.
I'd argue that by voting, even if you are voting for what you consider to be the lesser of two evils; you are legitimising them and the system. The opposite of what you're saying
Not voted, nobody worth while voting for as they’re all the same. Just watching them in parliament acting like children is bad enough
Yes indeed, ha ha.

What was that frggin police commissioner voting nonsense all about.. scratching my head on that one, just spoilt my ballet on that one.
I was wondering too.

I have a paper driving licence that does not have a photo, no bus pass.
Could not find my passport, so no vote.
register for postal vote
But that means he will have to sort it out.

Well it’s seams to me Al that we are the ones doing the work to bloody vote as crime is on the raise , Crime commissioner who ! Cheers

I've gone postal, so to speak.

Not good then.
They would accept an expired passport which is unusual - as long as your picture matches.
Might be too old though.

Exactly how I felt dean.
You present your ID to stop other people committing a crime. Maybe we should tackle the people committing the crime in the first place?
Good idea, lets make crime illegal. That would solve it :-)

Well ultimately it doesn't really matter because both parties are 2 cheeks of the same arse.
And, it seems, beholden to higher international powers

I've always got ID on me. If it stops cheating then what's the problem?
And that's exactly how the "nudge" works.
The voting fraud happens via postal votes. So the ID wont do anything to stop that as far as I can tell.
ID cards are mandatory in many countries. Should be here.
@@An.Individual They would use it against law abiding people like you than the illegals & criminals.
Did Alan remove my comment?
I wonder if Emmeline Pankhurst would have voted for a Police Crime Commissioner?
Ha ha.
Is this just a job for one of the boys/girls.
I don't have a clue what the role does or know who was currently in the position.
@@LorcanAdrain I've no idea as no one bothered to canvass my area so I didn't bother to vote for a PCC.
