How to install ffmpeg on Windows

Leaving this comment to help someone out, this worked but last step didn't quite work. Once I ran the command prompt as administrator it then worked for me. Thank you Koolac!

It might be because the path chosen was to add for the User but if you add that ffmpeg path to the System Variables instead I guess the problem is solved.

for those who get errors, you have to copy the entire contents of the Bin folder, and then install with cmd as administrator.

Note: If you are getting tripped up around 1:45 during the extract, have the folder extract into your downloads folder, then move it over to wherever you made your ffmpeg folder. It's being blocked because it's asking for admin permissions. Same thing with command prompt - right-click, launch as admin.

Here's my problem: My audio editor (Audacity) opens some mp3s but not others, due to the ffmpeg issue. I've installed it as you said, then when I go to open one of the mp3s it just says the same thing. Why is this and what else do I need to do?

Maybe you downloaded the wrong zip file. Look for the download that matches your computer’s operating system (Windows, Linux) and processor (32-bit, 64-bit).
