These Zoom G3Xs are so freakin sleek! Compact, metal construction, easy to read screens, loaded with features and great sounds all while operating on 4 AA batteries It's kinda the ultimate package!!! Awesome demo Harry!!! Much Thanks
Hello. I have the G3X zoom pedal and I want to put it through the amplifier's effects loop. It's the first time I do it. The problem is that i don't really understand how the cables should be connected. I have also noticed that the pedal has two outputs R and L/Mono. Which one should I choose?? By the way, I heard that I have to turn off the amp emulations. Do i have to disconnect something else. ?? Greetings
OOoo the faces you pull :-) Great sound (well-miked and mixed) and brilliant review, thanks. Very helpful. And 4.30 that "80's sound" was about to turn into 1970s Brian May!
Heel leuk maar waarom is deze review niet in het Nederlands??? Bax is toch een Nederlands bedrijf??? Er zijn al zoveel Engelstalige reviews van de G3X...
Yes, this product can be used as an interface to record audio directly on to your computer. Of course the software has to support video and audio with external devices.
Dang, I am revisiting this & you sure have it sounding great. I have the g3, use a Dunlop wah & vol pedal on the side. Thinking this or the g5 if nothing else to cut down by one exp pedal. Does it seem like this pedal is pretty tough?
what would you recommend between BOSS ME 70, RP1000, or this? recently, i was gonna go for BOSS ME 70 until i saw this. which would you prefer in terms of tone quality, number of effects, and durability?
Is there a change in tone quality when the pedal is bypassed. If it was put in an effects chain for example and the g3x was just being used as a signal booster for guitar solos would the tone quality from my analogue Boss over pedal be affected? Thanks.
Great pedal, has all the sounds of the G5, great value too. Being a distortion connoisseur, I can get endless combos of massive guitar sounds with it, can rearrange in any order, etc. Sound quality is amazingly detailed, sensitive to nuances, love it. Only gripe!: Cannot switch between volume and wa in the same patch, so I'll have to make clones next to each other
hey, since you have the pedal, can you tell me if i can get a good EVH kinda brown sound? also can i have a delay phase and flanger running on the same patch? so when im play live i can just press a button and i have the effect?
Blake Mullens If I recall that sound correctly it's like the opening sound inthis video. I'll just say I don't think there are many sounds this unit is not capable of...the more I tweak, the more impressed I am. You absolutely can mix up to six effects (and actually more, since some effects are two in one!) I mix two delays, for example, plus you have the looper. Excellent value and quality, try one--used, even better priced!
Sounds a great effects unit. Besides downloading software patches from the ZoomG3 can you arrange the unit to get the sound of the sixties example The Shadows sound?
Slick pedal ! I love mine. For it's price range it has very good sounds, not a high learning curve and very compact. If your carrying other gear like a guitar synth and/or a lap top, the Zoom G3X can make your life much easier. Works for me.
I have owned an rp500 and now have a zoom g3x......g3x better by far......the rp500 drove me back to stomp boxes......didn't sound good through an amp for me.....
Thanks for the review, it's very helpful.. Im considering to order one, I'm a beginner and I don't have any pedals, I'm not sure if I can use this multi effects without any pedal to get these sort of sounds.. now I'm playing on a cheap squier guitar with Mustang 1 fender amp, the sound is not great! Would you advice me to insert this great G3 in the setup?
is it just me or mr.maes looks like a combination of bilbo baggins and arthur weasley? But seriously, great review and pro skills. would you recommend zoom g3x to an intermediate guitar player for getting acquainted with different effects?
I like how you can scroll to three additional effects. I miss this feature on my B3 because I always use compression and often an amp model as well, so essentially I only have one more pedal that I can switch on and off like a boost or something. With the scroll system you can have three 'always-on' pedals (e.g. an amp model and reverb) set on the right-most slots, and e.g. a boost, chorus and wah on the left-most slots, so you can switch those on and off when you want. That way the 'always-on' effects can be on but invisible, while still having three more visible effects.
Hey man its great video and nice playing. I can pick up POD x3 used in good condition or Zoom G3. I keep reading good comments about it. THey write that the sound quality with headphones is amazing. all i want is the sound quality like the one u got before u try the "infront of amp " . But id ont have studio monitors yet. does it sound nice to pc with headphones as well?
Great Demo Harry I have the pedal and was about to give up on it until I saw what you have done here Immediately I was getting some good sounds I'm sure there is more in it now. Thanks a Bunch
Question. Do you feel like the pedal affects sustain at all? I use a cheaper Zoom pedal, which I think sounds really cool for rhythm guitar, but seems to decrease my guitar's sustain during solos. It could just be the cheaper pedals that are like that, but I would want to make sure before getting higher end Zoom pedals.
Jesse McCormick Duuuudee same thing here! I own a G1XN and it defenetely affects the sustain during solos. I think its the build in noise gate tough, if you can regulate the noise gate with the G3X perhaps you can turn it off to get sustain.
what i would do is using no amp sim and no distortion, but just use effects and have a real distortion pedal. and maybe put in the fx loop what do you think?
The pedal is great and very easy to use. I've been wondering does the tone slightly change if I put it in different patch letters or numbers event though the patch setting is the same? I made a patch in F7 but when I copied to G0 I noticed that it has more bass and less treble.. Is there a built in unique setting for each patch letter?
+1032patrick According to the specialist, it's unlikely the tone will change...Unless you've changed something. If you have more questions it's better to mail them to helpdesk@bax-shop.nl.
Hi Harry... Just bought a G3x but I am not able to control the the delay time with the external control footpedal. From what I can see it seems the only thing I can control with the pedal is whether the delay is on or off. On some of the delays it would appear that you can also control a hold function (useless to my mind)... Do you know if it is possible in the first place (apart that is from using the expression pedal which I know you can co but again that is a stupid way of control delay tap) Thanks Harry
+Mr Fay , for delays, go to the time parameter and go way past the maximum time and you will see notes like quarter note, eight note, dotted eight, etc. you should be able to control the delays using tap tempo, either built in button or a foot pedal.
Today I was in the Bax Shop Amsterdam and the guy there recommended of the Zoom G3X. Then I made a bit of research on the internet and literally everywhere they said Zoom G3X is better than the Boss. So I got it and happy so far.
Very nice video; you really excelled at showing what this product will do and how good it sounds - being a great player helped too! I believe you just sold me on the Zoom GX3.
This started off really well, but then the demonstration of all the effects was a little superfluous. I still haven't understood how to save your settings to the empty patch when you are happy with them. Nor do I understand how to get 6 effects out of 3 screens. It feels like half the job done. I have one of these pedals, but the possibilities are daunting. RUclips demos are a lot more digestible than reading the manual, which I have left...er...where?
That depends on what you need; if you’d like a whole bunch of effects in one package, then, yes, by all means! If you’re simply searching for one or two effects, this might be overdoing it. The effects sound nice and clear, so t’s a good choice among digital multi-effect pedals!
I did rely on your word and bought this product, and it does work perfectly. However, I can't seem to find as many audio samples on sequel le3 which arrived with the product. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to put the loop in a continuous sequence, without any pauses. Help would be really appreciated.
Amazingly well done. Such a boring thing, to walk through a massive library of options. But your excellent playing and calm persistence totally sets these videos apart from the how-to and review crowd. There's no way for me to become a Bax customer from the USA, apparently. But I appreciate these greatly.
Jumbo if yiu want something badly then call Bax as I did and now have a guitar about to be shipped to Canada.Ask for James,Sam,Alex or Enrique in the Kent, Englad office, they'll set you up!
Good Review Harry ....with showing very clearly and hearing any change/setting that you made......most reviews are filled with large ego's and info with minor added value to the common viewer....thanks for the effort making this video ! My wishlist is again a bit longer...¯¯¯
wow this thing sounds like real stompboxes, two questions,, can you get dotted eighth type delay, and can you get seeerious reverb like cathedral or atmospheric type reverb?
How do you use the Expression pedal for Wah and other stuff...all i know is on this pedal is to change and adjust effects and never knew how to completely master the Expression pedal.
Never played the Vox so can't make an honest choice. Zoom is very intuitive - don't forget to also check the G5 which has additional options like the Tube booster and Z-pedal and 5 effects per patch
Is every patch editable? Meaning I can not only edit each stompbox/amp models parameters but I can also change them to different effects OR is this only posible for empty patches
One question. There's three buttons on it, and the one on the right is for most effects. Can you have multiple effects going on on the same button? Like, say you wanted reverb, and chorus. Can you do that?
Is it possible to use G3 as an external audio card and pair it with Guitar Rig or similar software on my PC through USB for practice? Or it's only recording available through USB and it's guitar amp is needed for practice?
Great Demo. there's probably a newer version of this now but l was wondering if anyone watching has this and how well it works as an audio interface. would ideally like to record / over dub using cubase.
hey there! i have some questions to ask, can you help me? 1 - is it a good choice to use on an acoustic guitar? i need a reverb, tuner, EQ, delay and a Noise Reducer. 2 - my acoustic has a active pickup, i have to configurate anything bcuz of that? 3 - what i have to config to use in line without an amp? Thank you so much from brazil!
Yes, you can use this on an acoustic guitar. That shouldn't be a problem, no configurations needed. You can use the pedal as an interface, but to use this properly you need to connect the pedal to an computer with DAW software. if you have any more questions, please ask.
Hi. Could anyone answer my questions ?First, My zoom G2 Nu says it has a sampling frequency of 96 kHz. The specs on the G3 says it has a sampling frequency of 44.1 kHz. What exactly does this mean as far as sound quality goes ?Next, My G2 Nu can chain either 3 delays or 2 delays and reverb to get a great 60's Hank Marvin sound. Can this do the same or better ?Lastly, I bought a G2Nu for it's clean sounds and effects. I don't like ANY of the overdriven/distorted sounds which all sound "boxy" and not nice to listen to. Only my opinion as I am sure there are plenty of people that LOVE these sounds. BUT, have the amp models been improved in any way over the G2Nu ? There you go. My old G2nu is starting to go wrong and needs replacing, should I get one of these instead ?
yeah, and you can set it from right to left.. nice gear.. the onky minus, we cant (or i think i havent found the way yet) assign 1 effect per foot switch.. so you cant jumped off to another effect on a fast way..
Question: How do I invent and label new combinations without messing up the catalogue of preset sounds that are so well listed in the printed instructions?
What if i want to change effects / patches during a song when playing live? For example from a clean sounding patch to a distorted patch. Is there any fast possible way?
if I use additional stompbox pedals together with this and use the g3x as an interface, will the additional pedals be included in the signal of the interface to the computer?? XD help pls
Depending on the order of your pedals, for example i have a zoom g1u with an ibanez dl10 after in the chain, so if you are recording with the usb signal directly to your computer what is after the zoom (in the chain of your pedals) may not sound in the mix because it only sound in the normal output but not the usb, on the other hand, if you record with the normal mono (or stereo) output you shouldn't have any problem. I'm not sure of this, anyway, i hope it helps. good luck!
@ David Lee - maybe the Line 6 M9 (and the M series in general). I'm gonna either get the G3 or G9 - G9 has valves in it, and the DSP is high enough that I don't mind it being digital. If you have the money for a Nova, then that'd probably beat most things among Zoom and their competitors.
what will be the best guitar amplifier to match the ZOOm.. because i'm using right now a Blackstar ID COre ... but the problem is it has no "normal" voice selection.. for clean it has default on bright clean.. and on crunch it has default on crunch.. so when I select on distortion gadget it just "so distorted on crunch voice.. ans son..
I like this dude, he seems pretty chilled out, does pretty good reviews to.
These Zoom G3Xs are so freakin sleek! Compact, metal construction, easy to read screens, loaded with features and great sounds all while operating on 4 AA batteries

Which one sounds good N easy for used...!!
OOoo the faces you pull :-) Great sound (well-miked and mixed) and brilliant review, thanks. Very helpful.
And 4.30 that "80's sound" was about to turn into 1970s Brian May!
You are really gifted! Great job! Did you run the VOX directly in DAW or you plugged it in an amplifier?
Such mild guy who becomes a monster when he plays guitar. :D Really liked the facial expressions...

Best demo of this unit hands down! Gotta love Bax-shop!!
Hello. I have an zoom g3x totally new. I'm thinking about selling it and buy the zoom G3XN in second hand in very good condition. Is it worth it.??
@Blaž Krušič
Bought it a couple of years ago. But never unboxed it
I LOVE THAT PACIFICA GUITAR!!
I think old mate does a great job of demonstrating the G3x
Dang, I am revisiting this & you sure have it sounding great. I have the g3, use a Dunlop wah & vol pedal on the side. Thinking this or the g5 if nothing else to cut down by one exp pedal. Does it seem like this pedal is pretty tough?

thanks man
Hey dude really great demo, I was wondering at 19:40 when you say you got to switch off the cab, why is this?
yeah but it is working well?or affects the amp distortion?sorry if i tired you
Does it have a USB interface , for you know , recording stuff on the computer.
Sounds a great effects unit. Besides downloading software patches from the ZoomG3 can you arrange the unit to get the sound of the sixties example The Shadows sound?
would you say that the noise gates available in multieffects are pretty much the same with stompbox noise gates??

Hi! Is it designed to be running with amp or only with speakers through a mixer?
I'm looking to buy the zoom g3x or digitech rp 500- does one unit sound better than the other overall?

yeeeeah boi...!
How to eliminate guitar humming on heavy drive?
It has noise filter pedal
Is the pedal uptovthe mark? is volume up down is easily controlable .? or rather the pedal goes up and down like a see saw ?
Hi, between Zoom G3X and Boss Me-25, which will be the better one to buy?
what a great video :) one question, say i change the levels on a certain effect or amp, will those settings stay on once and turn it off and on again?
Yes the changes can be saved for ever if you want to.

well I've got to bear with it.. I just noticed a slight change and maybe because I imported g5 presets.
Is there no way to jump from different types of effects?
Phenomal review , thank you.clinched my decision to upgrade from G1X

which do you recommend?? zoom g3x or Boss me 25???

Very nice video; you really excelled at showing what this product will do and how good it sounds - being a great player helped too! I believe you just sold me on the Zoom GX3.
does this pedal have a memory setting or maybe a library which we can save all the commonly used effect as shortcut for easy access when playing??
All presets on this pedal are tweak able and save able. In short Yes. Please download and read the manual for the precise process of doing this.
excellent demo. this is replacing my digitech rp90...this review sealed the deal for me.
lupinehorror 3 yrs ago.. how was it? No regrets? Thinking of getting one since it's now sales cheap (used). Anything you disliked?
lupinehorror writing after three years of your review this or g5n is soon replacing my rp90 as well.. hope it went well for you
This started off really well, but then the demonstration of all the effects was a little superfluous. sir, is A1 patch is an empty preset or you just intentionally turn it into empty one? i just bought one today so im totaly a wonderer with g3x?
That depends on what you need; if you’d like a whole bunch of effects in one package, then, yes, by all means!
If you’re simply searching for one or two effects, this might be overdoing it.
The effects sound nice and clear, so t’s a good choice among digital multi-effect pedals!
I did rely on your word and bought this product, and it does work perfectly. However, I can't seem to find as many audio samples on sequel le3 which arrived with the product. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to put the loop in a continuous sequence, without any pauses. Help would be really appreciated.
Maes what a Great player you are ! because of this vid I have just bought one thanks !!!!!
Wow, that's a very big compliment. Thank you.
Zoom G3x or Digitech 360XP?
did you say that if you're using it with an amp, that if u use one of the g3x's amp modules then the cabinet must be switched off?
Can you use it as a USB interface uneffected and take an effected tone out of the audio outs?
When you're messing around at 11:55-12:10, what scale are you mostly using?
Amazingly well done. Such a boring thing, to walk through a massive library of options. But your excellent playing and calm persistence totally sets these videos apart from the how-to and review crowd. There's no way for me to become a Bax customer from the USA, apparently. But I appreciate these greatly.
Jumbo if yiu want something badly then call Bax as I did and now have a guitar about to be shipped to Canada.Ask for James,Sam,Alex or Enrique in the Kent, Englad office, they'll set you up!
Jumbo I meant sorry to misspell your name 👍
Good Review Harry ....with showing very clearly and hearing any change/setting that you made......most reviews are filled with large ego's and info with minor added value to the common viewer....thanks for the effort making this video ! My wishlist is again a bit longer...¯¯¯
In the loop the G3x works well with amp distortion. Delay, modulation etc. will work well after the preamp of your amplifier.
will it work for voice?
can i program clean and lead/dist freelancers? a button for each one?
wow this thing sounds like real stompboxes, two questions,, can you get dotted eighth type delay, and can you get seeerious reverb like cathedral or atmospheric type reverb?
How do you use the Expression pedal for Wah and other stuff...all i know is on this pedal is to change and adjust effects and never knew how to completely master the Expression pedal.
pls advise zoomg7.1ut used or zoom g3x new which one is better ?
Awesome explanation and playing man. Cheers.
VOX TONELAB ST vs ZOOM G3X... which do you recommend?
Never played the Vox so can't make an honest choice. Zoom is very intuitive - don't forget to also check the G5 which has additional options like the Tube booster and Z-pedal and 5 effects per patch
serious guitar skills holy shit (y)
I love his videos for that reason. Such good playing.
Is every patch editable? Meaning I can not only edit each stompbox/amp models parameters but I can also change them to different effects OR is this only posible for empty patches
Every patch can be edited
One question. There's three buttons on it, and the one on the right is for most effects. Can you have multiple effects going on on the same button? Like, say you wanted reverb, and chorus. Can you do that?
+Luke Walters you can use 2 effects at once, thats all i know from what i read
***** thanks
what is the setup for this vid? did you connect the zoom to an amp or direct to usb or to pa?
Both - Straight into the PC soundcard and into the amp too.
i need advice pls what shall i buy i have already ibanez grg170 dx so line 6 x3live or pod 500 or zoom g5n???????????????
Nice demo, thanx man. you talked me into picking one up off of Ebay.
wondering if gets warm as it sounds in the vid, when you go play live
We would advice the Presonus AudioBox 22VSL 2x2 USB audio/MIDI interface in combination with a Shure PG81 XLR microphone.
great playing harry , this one or the boss gt1 , Anyone??
Was this DI? I missed if you said...
How to save the effects?
I mean for example you play on live.
PLEASE ANSWER
does it work fine with amp distortion?plugged in loop only for delay etc?
Is it possible to use G3 as an external audio card and pair it with Guitar Rig or similar software on my PC through USB for practice? Or it's only recording available through USB and it's guitar amp is needed for practice?
Yes you can use the Zoom G3 as an audio interface. You can use it with your DAW and make recordings with it. Or simply use it as a practice tool.
Great Demo. there's probably a newer version of this now but l was wondering if anyone watching has this and how well it works as an audio interface. would ideally like to record / over dub using cubase.
hey there! i have some questions to ask, can you help me?
1 - is it a good choice to use on an acoustic guitar? i need a reverb, tuner, EQ, delay and a Noise Reducer.
2 - my acoustic has a active pickup, i have to configurate anything bcuz of that?
3 - what i have to config to use in line without an amp?
Thank you so much from brazil!
Yes, you can use this on an acoustic guitar. That shouldn't be a problem, no configurations needed. You can use the pedal as an interface, but to use this properly you need to connect the pedal to an computer with DAW software.
if you have any more questions, please ask.
i know that you are selling it haha, but it suck signal from mt instrument or not? it has shimmer or modulate reverbs ?
Bax Music is deze of de boss gt1 beter ( voor een hendrix stijl van spelen...

This dude is amazing!!
at 2.16, you mention the 'control in' for a foot switch.. could you explain what this does?
Scott Schaffer With Control-in you can select any feature you want to use, such as modulation on/off, boost on/off etc...
Hi! is this a friendly user multi-effects? Please help me,
is it save automaticly when i set the preset/patch??
Does the signal chain starts from Left to Right?
yeah, and you can set it from right to left.. nice gear.. the onky minus, we cant (or i think i havent found the way yet) assign 1 effect per foot switch.. so you cant jumped off to another effect on a fast way..
Is this unit usable with a headphone?
Yes it is!
Bax-shop.nl I'm guessing with a converter plug for my mp3 headphone and it is good to go? Nice. Thanks
6 effects aside from the vol/wah?
Question: How do I invent and label new combinations without messing up the catalogue of preset sounds that are so well listed in the printed instructions?
Hi! Can you send an e-mail with your question to helpdesk@bax-shop.nl ? Our specialists are more than happy to assist you with this. :)
I demonstrated the G5 and HD500x too on this channel. ;)
What if i want to change effects / patches during a song when playing live? For example from a clean sounding patch to a distorted patch. Is there any fast possible way?
Hi. I have noticed that on the back of the pedal board there are two buttons that say Balanced out. Someone knows what they are for. ??
if I use additional stompbox pedals together with this and use the g3x as an interface, will the additional pedals be included in the signal of the interface to the computer??
I'm not sure of this, anyway, i hope it helps. good luck!
thank you so much!
@ David Lee - maybe the Line 6 M9 (and the M series in general). I'm gonna either get the G3 or G9 - G9 has valves in it, and the DSP is high enough that I don't mind it being digital. If you have the money for a Nova, then that'd probably beat most things among Zoom and their competitors.
what will be the best guitar amplifier to match the ZOOm.. because i'm using right now a Blackstar ID COre ... but the problem is it has no "normal" voice selection.. for clean it has default on bright clean.. and on crunch it has default on crunch.. so when I select on distortion gadget it just "so distorted on crunch voice.. ans son..
which are the parameters that you use at delay??
Level

Delay-time/repeat
You could use the booster effect last in the chain to accomplish the same effect without the real tube of course that's in the G5.
Im hoping that the three screen will just be an individual effect.
I just got this pedal. Still figuring things out but good lord it's fucking fantastic. :D
