*Let me know if you have any tips to add!* And a small correction I need to make: I didn't realize while filming that SeatGuru was bought out by Tripadvisor recently so while the website is still live, they are no longer updating their seat maps, so they may not be the most accurate. I’ve heard of Aerolopa (www.aerolopa.com/) as an alternative, but it’s not as easy as SeatGuru to use. You’d need to find out which plane you’re flying on (usually you’ll see this on your booking portal, or you can use Google Flights to find your flight and then look under the flight details to see the actual model of plane). Obviously, this is more cumbersome… but yes, sorry about that! They never announced this change so I had no idea.

@@HappytoWander Very true! We're slowly converting our friends and family to team carry-on and at first they've said they didn't think they could pack so little, but once they were on the trip they said it was so much better hahaha. Also I've been following you on Instagram for years and you were one of my first inspirations for traveling more. I have really been enjoying your RUclips videos lately - Thank you for the work that you put into them!
Love your videos! One tip on the mobile boarding pass, I take a screen shot of it as a photo, and use that to scan, bc photos don't turn off/go dark like when you pull it up on the airline app... in case the wallet feature doesn't work for some reason. And ALWAYS have a paper one.
This channel deserves more views and members. So many amazing tips and tricks in these videos. Another wonderful post Christina. Keep up the lovely job you're doing.
haha! I set my alarm and have a reminder on my phone 10 minutes before the 24 hour mark of check-in. I literally hover over the "check in" button for about 5 minutes before the exact 24 hour mark. Yup, even if it's 6am. I'm there. Precheck/clear is the BEST! I don't know if appointments are available at my airport but that would be fabulous. Next on my list: get Global Entry. Never do I check a bag. I will be happy to bring less as long as there is room for my makeup and toiletries. I'm vain. 🤣
Great tips! Although I have NEXUS as I’m often a solo traveller, I’ve used the YYZ Express option several times when travelling with friends. Great alternative if available for your terminal and flight. I’ve always found that the golden rule for travel is to never get on a plane thirsty, hungry or needing to use the washroom. Have a snack and a water bottle with you. You never know how long you may be waiting till you’re inflight.
Yes!! I used the YYZ Express for the first time last month and am converted for life. It’s SO much easier. I’ve been meaning to get my Nexus but haven’t gotten around to it. After that I’ll be unstoppable haha. And ahh how did I forget to mention the importance of going to the bathroom just before boarding?? Well I’m hoping common sense will be enough to cover that one haha but that’s definitely SO important.
Where I use to work. Were we worked near foam trays. They wanted us to wear 90% cotton because if you wore something else. If there was a spark or fire. Your clothes would melt onto your skin.
People~PLEASE KEEP YOUR PERSONAL ITEM UNDER THE SEAT!! Overhead bins are often full 3/4😊😊 way thru bc people are not leaving room for the actual "luggage." Please dont be selfish. Leave room up there for what it was intended so that EVERYONE can enjoy the pleasure of carry on!
I feel like we would be amazing travel companions! This was a fantastic refresher for me. I used to fly 4 to 6 times a year & then pandemic. I’m about to take my first flight since 2019. So a lot of updates- thank you thank you, thank you finding your blog and your videos have been amazing. The pre-security lines (I have global ) but coming back internationally, ive prebooked for our routes! Thank you for that tip! The one thing you may have posted in another video that I haven’t come across yet, but using any USB ports, I would avoid because people can steal information that way. there’s data blockers if you ever using those- especially in the airport or the plane. ❤ Thank you again
These tips are all really helpful. Certainly just carry on for me. Less pulling heavy luggage throughout journey. Dressing well is also useful. Have taken photos of my outfits to pack in a few weeks for Poland. 👏🇦🇺
Global Entry in the US is a time saver and less hassle if you’re a family with children. It has TSA PreCheck. The last time we were in the airport, we got through security in under 7 minutes. No removal of shoes and belts. No taking out of electronics from personal item bag.
The bonus tip needs to be #1. Being nice, speaking clearly and coming prepared goes so far when asking for an upgrade, or special accomodations. Just take a moment to breathe before you go over, I know it's a difficult time, but being nice to the ladies at the desk can go so so so far, even on a flight thats only an hour or two. Free drinks, upgrades, priority boarding, etc.
My grandmother gave me two tips that have been invaluable: fly the best class you can; it sets the stress tone for the whole trip...and pack only what you can not replace and take lots of money! Also, if you need to lessen your stress, arrive early and then go to the lounge and relax, read the paper, ck out the tv scedule, have a light repast; find a recliner and snooze; make sure when you sign in at the desk, note your flight and time so someone will come for you.
@@HappytoWander I love the brand Faomie (I think that a british company) and I love our German brand that called "Duschbrocken". They make such things like 2in1 shower and bodywash soaps, facial stuff, bodylotion, tooth paste pills and even sun protection...
I have TSA pre check but will start working on global entry sometime this year. It was great for going to Montreal. Lol I left pretty early on a Sunday and there was no one there at yul.
Great video! I really enjoy your channel. Do you have tips for folks like me who need to travel with mutiple pairs of glasses (say 4 to 5). Becuae I have an eye condition, glasses take up so much room. Also prescription meds (lots) advice? Snack suggestions? Also contact lens solutions and cleaners. Suggestions?
Do you know re best times to book hotels? Most of my trip is book for June, but not for LA...I heard I should wait until last minute to book? Thank you!!
Baggage weight: youll also want to check the airport weight limit and other criteria youll need to know at all the airports youll be gping through. Like me, im about to goon a mission trip soon and almost all the airlines are about the same weight limit BUT! there is yhis one airport in africa, not the airline, that always gets us for one reason or another. So be sure to know all the airports and airlines in all the countries youll be passing through; not just your home base or final destination airports/airlines.
You can visit the TSA website/Google your question like "is yogurt TSA allowed?" And it will answer you immediately for your specific item. I saw a grandma on her way to a family reunion with her world famous banana pudding have to discard all of it (more than 3 ozs by 100 xs) AND lose her Tupperware to it so def look it up on the TSA website
I just bought a travel water bottle to fill up myself in the airport. But I get grossed out by germs. Do you think the water fountains are safe from Covid etc?
I never understood why Flight Attendants don't enforce the 1 carry on on top of the plane. I often see people putting a carry on, personal items, jackets and that all just adds to the problem of not having enough carry on space for everybody.
Team freezing a water bottle AND bringing a reusable bottle. The former will allow you to safely bring full nutriionally-dense meals instead of just snacks.
Your wrong about dressing up nicer people are nicer. Being clean is more important I am a retired flight attendant I never judged people by wearing something nicer than the next person. I would never wear a dress on a long flight you don’t want your skin touching the seat And if you had to go down emergency slide your better off with pants. What’s more important is being nice polite with a nice smile that will be more appreciated than dressing nicer So you are wrong on the dressing also I have never seen anyone in pajamas in fact some of the business or first class will give you pajamas to change into. I was getting irritated after hearing you say that but I decided to continue to watch Anyway Thumbs up
Personally I'd rather be wearing comfortable clothes during a 9-hour flight then dressing for the three or four people I'll interact with so I'll stick to my sweats.
Thanks for nothing! With dozens of “frequent travellers” giving the same tips on youtube, overhead bins are now almost always full. But us, real travel warriors, we keep one step ahead. I now can only use a personal item and be done with it. 5,27kg, one pair of slacks, 2 shirts, toiletries, boxers and tshirt to sleep, 2 undies, 2 sox so I am good for two nights out. If the weight allowance is bigger I can go on with more slacks and a few more shirts and make it a carryon if I need more space at my feet (183cm, 6’0) and be good for a week.
Air Alaska and United both were strict about 1 carryon and 1 personal bag. Overhead storage was for carryon and personal under the seat. Some passengers had to have their carryon stowed underneath, but they weren't charged.

Yes, team carry-on only 10000%! We’ve visited 52 countries and always do carry-on and it’s so much easier to have less luggage to haul around!
Yes!!! I’m team carry on for life! But I know that’s a controversial take and it isn’t for everyone haha

Yup, belt and suspenders, me too. Family laughs at me, but given the consequences of failure, a few minutes pre-travel planning lets me relax.

Great tips. Best one : photo of parking location. Also phone sceen orientation lock.
Also take photos of the inside of your luggage items.
I put some big stickers (2 from trips, 1 from a local artist) on my carry-on suitcase--no way someone would *accidentally* take it!
