- You may like Juan Dolio Beach more than Boca Chica or even Punta Cana. Reasons include:
1/ Lovely beach that takes 1 hour to walk end to end.
2/ More local flavour in small town.
3/ Very few vendors on the beach, unlike Boca Chica or Cartagena in Colombia
4/ Not so expensive

I was here four weeks ago. It is truly underrated. Fantastic beach!
Is there a name for this specific beach
lol I used to leaved in Santo Domingo and Juan Dolio for almost two years.( Next to the tall building (4:55) -in the tan two story motel-apartament (5:34)). Both buildings owned by one Italian man. The beach (artificial-man made) and a little bay is nice. 1 mile east from here, used to be Barcelo Resort and Villa Alexander -I owned 11 years ago -with commercial corner. JD is about 20min ride to the International airport Americana and 30min to Santo Domingo. But climatewise, I prefered town of Jarabacoa -inland in the mountains. Eternal spring weather.
We love Juan Dolio. We are considering moving there from the states. ❤
Juan dolio is extremly underrated, its going to be a major city in the next 20 years because the rich guys from DR are investing there plus a cinematographic studio(pinewood studios) that works with hollywood movies is bringing alots of celebrities to come often, juan dolio is the best real estate oportunity right now you can buy cheap now and sell expensive in 20 years

Been to JD many times and agree it's better than Boca but cheaper than Punta Cana. There is an awesome resto across the street from the beach with amazing Pizza

How far is this beach from Boca Chica? Are the hotels reasonably priced?
Hi, it is about a 20-25 minute ride in the little bus you see in the video. You can also take a taxi or maybe UBER. I believe you will find quite a few AirBnb listings for this area. Not sure about hotels I did'tn notice any the short time I was there.
