Just wanted to say it again, thank goodness someone has the dedication and wherewithal to get this stuff recorded and archived for the future, with good equipment and skills. If only the opportunity had existed 60 years ago when steam was common. Good job, and thanks for capturing what will become a legacy.
thank you for sharing these scenes all these years . thank you for not taking snaps during the videoing of these moments . i find that very very distracting , and it would be cause for me to leave the video .may these vids show this record of the last steam trains in a industrial application on earth running last for ever . happy new year to u all.
Thank you for that comment. I'm afraid that some of my videos do have the clicks of camera shutters but they're not mine! Please bear with them. The locos at Sandaoling should struggle on for another couple of years with a bit of luck. Andy
Well thank you so much Terry. You're very kind. We'll continue to churn it out as long as there are steam locos to watch!! Look out for Myanmar coming in the next few days. Andy
Thank you for your comment. The official line at Sandaoling is that steam should continue until September 2020 with a possibility it may go on into 2022. I think it depends on how long the coal supply lasts. Andy
I'm afraid when Sandaoling finishes that is the end in China and pretty well the rest of the world too. There's a little steam being used for tourist work but not much. Andy
@@geoffreyblack5982 Hopefully there will plenty of locos to sell to the US, they can be a blank slate for representing locomotives that are similar 2-8-2's that no longer exist, or lettered for roads where little to no steam locos exist from them.
They do occasionally use the steam whistles but not often. It's probably to avoid disturbing the locals, although most have been forcibly moved out of the houses that were close by the railway by the authorities. If you watch all my "2019" playlist, you'll catch the whistle being used just once. Watch this one though, from TieFa. It's one of my favourites and demonstrates whistle and horn being used alternatively. ruclips.net/video/xPJx24HDOW0/видео.html Andy
@@SuperMikado282 There are a couple of tourist narrow gauge lines and there's talk of part of the JingPeng Pass being made into a tourist line. We'll have to see. Andy

Thank you so much, Dave. I hope my videos will be enjoyed for many years after I'm gone! Andy

Man I love the way this starts out hearing this big girl in the deep twilight of her career slamming along in the distance! Great video!!
Thank you for your comment. The sounds here are great as the exhaust echoes around the old mine area. Andy
Still hanging on. Amazing! Thanks for the clips. :-)
It's looking as though they'll still be there until September 2020 and possibly to 2022. We'll see.
Andy
Yes, thank you! These videos will continue to get views for many years to come.
I hope so! Andy
Thaat was good driving and good filmed! Wish I could give more than one like!

The semi streamlining makes them look like southern pacific locomotives
They are based on Russian designs which are, themselves, based on US designs. The family likeness is clear !!! ...... Andy
Amazing video's, gorgeous steam loco's on a lunar landscape, Chinese steam rock's !!!
Thank you for that very kind comment. Andy
Fantastic footage. Thumb up left. :)
Thank you for that. I do my best!! Andy
Thank you for the series of splendid videos.
How much longer do you think this operation will continue to use steam traction?

Does this mean the end of Chinese steam?

Why don’t they ever use their whistles

Yes I did mean xiexie, not little sister!
Do you think China will have preserved steam trains like the U.K.?
