    The Fonz is probably why we all started hitting televisions to fix the reception.

    • @dopplerdog6817
      @dopplerdog6817 3 года назад +40

      Hitting appliances could work when they used vacuum tubes (valves), like 50's radios and TVs. Knocking an old defective valve could cause it to reconnect and work properly for a little while. When transistors took over from valves, that trick didn't work anymore.

    And even though the Fonz is the coolest guy you'll ever know, Henry Winkler is in fact the nicest, most social guy I have ever met in my life. I met him at a convention back in July, and he was so friendly with everyone that he was meeting them in front of his booth instead sitting behind the table at his booth. When it was my turn, I was getting my phone ready, he walked right up to me with his hand out saying, "Hi there! I'm Henry Winkler!" I look up and I'm all blushing and giggling as we shake hands and chat up a storm. He shows me all the picture for me to pick for him to sign, and his book 'I Never Met an Idiot on the River', and had his arm around my shoulder the whole time like he was an old friend of mine. I'll just never forget that moment.

      I met him too. He's a SUPER Nice guy. I was waiting on really long line to see him. He snuck up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder and said hello. What caught me off guard was everyone was trying to look at the front of the line and he ambushed us from the back of the line as he greeted everyone one on one. Nicest man you'll ever want to meet.

    • @JohnSilverfan01
      @JohnSilverfan01 7 лет назад +49

      I hardly had to wait at all. There was no line at all. Just only one other guy ahead of me at the booth and Henry was just talking to him. I was standing at the middle of the waiting area just getting my phone ready while he was talking not noticing that they probably were saying their goodbyes and all. And boom. There he was with his hand out to me.

    -Can compel babes to dance with him with just a snap of the fingers
    -Completely removed hostility from a situation with one simple *suggestion*

    Back in the 70s growing up, the Fonz was the one that every kid in school wanted to be, including me, everyone would walk into the classroom saying "aaaay, I'm the Fonz and I'm cool". In today's society though, I think the kids prefer cool gangs rather than cool, stand out individuals and Fonze was of course, very much an individual who stood out.
    Yes, he had plenty of friends but at the same time, he cut above them all of them as this unique person who was someone they could never be, although, ironically, the character was supposed to have once belonged to a gang and then what they did with the character was to make him the central figure.
    This is probably why the kids of today wouldn't like this in the same way we did, they would generally much rather have a TV show about a group of cool guys rather than one cool guy, like a gang of Fonzies rather than one on his own.

    In real life, Henry Winkler is very cool because of the type of person he is, he's not like many other celebrities, he seems such a nice guy and seems very hunble and he seems to appreciate his fans and doesnt act like he is better than them just because hes a celebrity, now that is cool.

    My 15 year old just told me a story about a kid in his class named Fonzie and I went’ “Ayyyyy”, complete with the thumbs up and everything and he looked at me liked I was crazy! He said, “I don’t get it.” I’m like, “you’ve never heard of the Fonz?” And he said, “hey, that’s what my coach calls him.” So here I am doing my job as a good parent informing him of good ole American tv history and of what good tv used to be!

    I can still remember as a kid going to a Henry Winkler movie right in the middle of the Fonz mania. It was a weird movie, he was like a Vietnam vet with flashbacks, and I think Harrison Ford was a buddy from the war that had like an orange Camaro with playing cards on the side. I seem to remember they had a dream of starting a worm farm. Yeah I swear, a worm farm. Could be wrong but that's what I remember, can't remember the name of the movie.
