I felt the weight of the titanium cranks at Sea Otter, and felt heavier than the aluminum, but in a good way. Just purchased their Titanium chainring for my Fantic emtb, as I’m going to be doing a year long test to see how it holds up. Your setup looks amazing! Hope they do the same Ti cranks for emtbs.
Nice🤘🤘 I wanted a pair of Thomson Titanium risers to go with my Elite Stem and post, but at almost 💰💰600.00 🍁 I couldn't. And I'd have to switch to a 31.8 or a 35mm diameter stem.
@@glen3509 and that's why I'm broke lol. My stem came with 31.8 shim. Thomson titanium is top notch stuff. There is definitely no give with titanium lol. I work in the metal industry titanium is almost unbreakable.
I’m curious, why do all non-Shimano cranks use 30mm diameter spindles and not the 24mm diameter like Shimano? I ride SS Mtn bikes and switching back to Shimano cranks because the BB’s just don’t last long (6 months max) I think that having a 24mm spindle just allows more space for bigger bearings and longer lasting BB’s. This is not an issue with my geared bikes as much but definitely an issue with my SS bikes.
Welp!.... guess ur gonna have to make another crank suppleness comparison vid there @hardtailparty 💪🤩😆👍 hard to find a Ti bar to test without paying cu$tom sized dollars so I ordered a roost bar with htp disco, now to pinch a few pennies to test a 5dev Ti stem on a few of my bikes. I will accept demo parts and sponsorships as well😆. Thx for the inspo and tech-geek-ery! Always makes me feel like riding after seeing ur vids!
Beyond trick! Upper echelon of bling for sure (and price 😅). But man… I dig 5DEVS “All around” pedals. I bought 2 pairs because of how incredible they are (I used your discount code! Thanks!) Anywho… thanks for showing off these beautiful components!
Impeccable timing... announced a few weeks after I received my new eeWings. What lengths do they plan to produce? One reason I gave up on waiting for the pending Engin ti cranks is because he wasn't planning to do a 165mm length right off the bat, which is what I run. These might be tempting to replace the 170mm XTR cranks on my Spot, though... assuming a 165mm length.
I want chain stays like those cranks. square Ti bar stock rounded on the outside and squared on the inside of the chain stay with cut outs just like that
Beautiful in every way. When you say lighter than aluminum, what alu cranks are you comparing them to? Also, we need 5dev to make some ti ovals, hit them up my good man!
I had heard first hand from a gent who bought that 5Dev ti chainring for his Sram Transmission build and said he had to not use it as it was super flexy, and that got another purchaser to agree and stated the same. Just too thin. have you ridden it yet and did you find the same results ? **Im not stating they are , I do not have first hand experience , so these are opinions only.
I believe it, titanium is about twice as heavy as aluminum but twice as stiff, and because they can’t take any material out of the teeth or the center, that leaves them having to take extra material out of the connecting arms in order to keep the weight down, which likely leads to them being a little flexy.
What I see here is subtractive vs additive engineering - no idea if 5 dev have access to optimisation software but aside from it looks great if i eyeball the volume of ti in the cranks it’s about the same as say Rotor but your paying for a lot of air in those billets - but I’ve stuck them on my I want list
To remove weight and for appearance. A block of ti weighs more than the same sized block of aluminum. Fortunately it's also tons stronger, so they can remove more of it.
@@hardtailparty Everything 5dev makes is absolutely gorgeous and I would put all the Ti parts on my bike in a heartbeat if I could afford them. I work in aerospace like 5dev but as a repair tech so I guess I have a clinical eye lol. Also, I hope you get to keep the pink helm!
@@hardtailparty Thanks for the quick reply, I’m assuming 1500 or more. I have a couple sets of EE wings, and I’ll have to get a set of these! Is anodizing in the works?
@@trailjockeytj6160ti anodizing seems to wear off quickly in a high friction environment like cranks. So I don't think there will be a plan to anodize them... But never say never...

Greatful for your efforts.
Thanks for the kind words
5dev stuff is always amazing!
Sram changed the bolt pattern on their cranks to make them compatible with the Quark powermeters.
I love the SRAM three bolt design, eight seems like a lot. Anyway, I plan to get the aluminum cranks at some point. I cant afford the Ti. SO SICK!!
Wow! Those Cranks look phenomenal!
awsome...
are the cranks and spider shimano ep8 compatible?
WHAT A BUILD
Whoa! They look amazing!
just pulled the trigger on these titanium cranks using you discount code can’t wait to get them 😁
Right on, congrats on some beautiful cranks. Thanks for using my code, it helps them know to send more gear to test.
These are just sick!!! Love 5 Devs stuff!!
Stunning! I really love the super minimal wraparound of that stem!
Wow , those are the most beautiful cranks I have ever seen. Thanks for sharing, hope to cross paths at Sea Otter . Cheers
insanely beautiful parts. thanks, Steve. great job.
I weep at the beauty
Looks awesome...I remember in my late 1970s BMX days Campy had a titanium road chain! I think it was a $100.
Looking forward to the ride review of these cranks!!!
Those cranks are 🔥. I was just about to order new cranks for my bike, but now I'm holding off to see pricing on these.
I bought their Ti chainring. Very nice piece.
Blingy! 5dev has such beautiful design and look. One day when I have some extra $$$.

@Jason Lewis Cool that you work in that field👍👍. So there's no flex? I was always told Titanium flexes quite a bit.
@@glen3509 to me it doesn't I feel that it makes me handle turns fast. The density of titanium is so hard. Which means strength .

That is a lot of titanium bling! I don't even want to know how much the cranks cost. Worth it for a dream build I'm sure.
I just told my nephew I'm guessing their new 6/4 Titanium cranks are about 💰💰1,200.00 🍁
How do they compare to EeWings?
Eewings are going to be lighter
And I thought the aluminum versions were sexy!! Great job 5dev

Any idea what the chainring weighs? It's called "superlight" on their website, but they don't list the weight in the specs.
Beautiful bike ❤
Those sure are pretty! Do they have more flex than the Cane Creek? More forgiving? I remember you saying, they were ober stiiff.
These aren't as harsh riding as the cane creeks.

I want these for the kenevo SL SO BAD
Do they make proprietary brushes and bike wash to clean the mud out from all those crevices in the crank arms?
It sounds like lots of people regularly get their bikes caked in mud. Are your cranks often muddy? Even when I hit mud my cranks don't get muddy.
@@hardtailparty haha! Naw I was just heckling from the cheap seats. That stem tho.

🔥 YUM 🔥
Those roost titanium bars any good for any specific reason? Been waiting for someone to review them

Wonder how stiff these 5dev ti cranks are compared to the eewings and compared to the 5dev aluminium ones??.
