    I really liked the conversation about offensive rebounding and the lack of it in current basketball. Offensive rebounding as you imply has been directly impacted by the long range shooting spree. Not only many of those shots are taken when there is no one in position to contend for rebounds, but also shots fall further away from the basket. A cunning player could try and sneak offensive rebounds ( I personally always loved doing that) but coaches are super scared of the counterattack three pointer as Maui says. I guess it makes sense though as with the higher pace and space games can get derailed very quickly. It is a bit sad to see though.

    I really like KD as a player but he ain’t fucking with Lebron. KD mama knows he ain’t fucking with Lebron.

      Bron has a higher peak and longevity than KD. KDs best ability is as a scorer and Lebron has the same scoring averages as KD

    I'd be happy to hear a segment about Rajon Rondo. I think he is a very interesting player in terms of winner entangibles come playoffs. Would love to hear your opinions.

    KD is an amazing scorer, easily top 3 of all time. But, I don’t buy the argument that the West was some tough conference in the 2010s too. All the stars of the 2000s became old or injured (Kobe, Duncan, no more Shaq, even Dirk had no more gas after that 2011 win). I could at least point to the East with the Big 3 Celtics and Magic with a revolutionary offense that changed how the game is played today. I think the early-mid 2000s Western and 90s Eastern conference are better examples of tough conferences that gap the opposing conference. 2010s was just young across the board aside from the big 3 heat and the old legacy finals teams (spurs, lakers, celtics, and pistons).

      It was ridiculously competitive. Not as much when the Warriors came up and he went there, but during his Oklahoma days, the conference was strong as hell. When he won his first scoring title, Oklahoma reached 50 wins - good enough for the EIGHT seed. 2011 lost to the hot hand - champion Mavs, before that went to 7 against Memphis. 2012 - then current champs Mavericks, Lakers with a still amazing Kobe, Spurs at the start of their final top contender run - Conference Finals, Finals and the most dominant Finals win in 2014. 2013 is a write off since Russ was injured, but still came up against the elite Memphis defense in peak form. 2014 - Memphis, second round vs Clippers (statistically the best offense that season), and the unbeatable Spurs team. You didn't get free wins, while LeBron's teams were pretty much guaranteed to be in the Finals every year. Those Memphis teams were about the worst teams they'd consistently face and that was one of the most well rounded defensive teams in the league with an elite perimeter defender in Tony Allen and great size across the board.

      The Clippers, Spurs, Rockets, Grizzlies, & Warriors are as competitive as it gets. What year in the East was it ever as competitive as this?

    • @laflame6031
      @laflame6031 Год назад

      Tough and competitive I feel are a bit different. I view tough as multiple “true contenders” for the title. I really felt like the Spurs were true contenders consistently and then OKC/Mavs as well for a very brief window. I trusted Kobe but injuries caught up and his team was not the same. Contrastingly, I would view competitive as close parity in team skill/wins. The West for sure was closer than the East, I was not arguing that. I just believed the East had more legit championship contenders overall. But I do appreciate your points, those teams were no slouches and I didn’t mean it in that respect.

    The LeBron arguments from Mauisnake were unreal. I don't know why it's impressive that a player who isn't 30 would work on their game. It just proves how enamored people are with the narratives surrounding LeBron instead of seeing through the constant media hype.

  • @jazeroliversy673
    @jazeroliversy673 Год назад +4

    I feel like thoron doesn’t even watch bron. What is this nonsense about bron not having a midrange game. He literally founded Lebronto with some insane fadeaways. Obviously he will drive because he is one of, if not the best finisher in history. Sure he shoots too much threes for being just an average 3pt shooter, but to act like this man does not have a midrange game is disingenuous.

    • @jazeroliversy673
      @jazeroliversy673 Год назад +3

      Listening to more of the episode, it’s obvious why Lebron did not just always drive. Teams clogged the fuck out of the paint against him. People game plan vs. it, so obviously you need to diversify your game. No you cannot just abuse your god given driving ability because teams were already limiting his one-dimensional offense at the time. And the point about being 30 years old like??? Do you have to be over 30 to add a new dimension to your game? Actually absurd.
