11:59 The reverse-transom sloop right to the lee of your mast here is the slip where we kept our Columbia 50. 1971 - over 50 friggin' years ago! Doesn't seem possible.

The memories this brings back are sweet and they are many. I grew up in Belmont Heights, my dad had a membership at LBYC and ABYC, and a boat for each of us -- my dad, my two brothers and me. Dad owned a Columbia 50, my brothers had a Lido 14, and I had a Sabot (I was no older than about 10 - 12 at the time). When we weren't racing the 50 to Catalina, you'd find me racing in Alamitos Bay in my Sabot and my brothers racing or cruising in their Lido. This was like in the late 60s/early 70s. I had SUCH a blast competitive racing, both in my little Sabot and on our big boat. I've pined for years to get back out on the water; I was so, SO lucky to have had that experience as a young boy/teenager, and I want to do it again before I'm too old to do it or enjoy it.
