  • This short film which is an extract from a much longer film takes us to a few of the popular places of the Northern parts of the Broads. This forms part of the very first film I made back in the 1970`s, the intro of my Mother was filmed 15 years earlier on a clockwork 8mm cine camera , thinking it was fitting that she should introduce the film. My family and the Broads goes back a long way to the year of 1927, where my Grandpa hired a boat from Oulton Broad for a week, but unfortunately the weeks Holiday was ended in 3 days when the boat was completely gutted by fire, making headlines in both their and our local papers.
IF YOU LIKE THESE SHORT FILMS THEN WHY NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS CHANNEL AS THERE ARE MORE TO COME. THANKYOU.

Lovely to go back to the wonderful 70s. Many enjoyable holidays . Remember well the boats we hired. Golden Emblem,Diamond Emblem, Brinks Ricarda and Brinks Rebecca. No doubt they are long gone. Wonderful nostalgic film.😅😊

That was a real joy to watch, thank you. I was lucky enough to live in Wroxham (well actually in Hoveton) and I love the Broads. I see the bridge at Wroxham was already busy back in the 1970s!

Wonderful video and so lovely to see the old wooden cruisers still so numerous, especially what looks like one of the few Supreme class cruisers. Jack Powell's had a couple and Geo Smith had the actual Supreme. I spent every childhood holiday into my teens on the Supreme till dear Duncan Prophet sold it on. Loved seeing the old wooden broads tours boats when they were based on the far side of the bridge, always loved seeing them being spun round to moor up. Such happy memories of a time sadly passed.

I've been coming to the broads since 1965 ,still doing it, was there 1 month ago. But the changes over the years are considerable and how nice to see all of those beautiful wooden craft that I remember so well. I don't know if it's the onset of years ,but there is a different atmosphere there now ,hard to put your finger on it ,but it just doesn't seem as friendly., however ,these plastic boats are home from home now ,but the old wooden hulls were great , especially when iced in ,the hull was quite ice -proof.

Those were the days when you could get under Wroxham and Potter Heigham Bridgs and the Broads Authority was not the useless bureaucracy it is today
