29 year old here. I've played at relatively high level and never had coaching like this. Coming into the last few years of my playing and I'm technically so much more informed now thanks to you brother.
playing some high school boy rugby for the next few months, this is definitely going to help me stand out and move up the teams, and that protecting of the ribs while passing will save me the trip to the hospital 😂 thank you so much
Awesome!!! My 12 year old son is playing outside centre now and he not completely comfortable with the position yet. Trying to get him feeling like he belongs in the position. This really helps. Thanks.
That is great news! Thanks for your message. All the best to your son playing this position. If i may say if your son is able to not be afraid to Express himself when playing this position and to enjoy it. Especially with an outside centre to remember to attack the inside shoulder, it will help him to run straight and hopefully cut through the defensive line like a hot knife through butter.
This is a great video, I'll be starting Union next year for my first time and I'm looking at Outside Centre as the most likely spot for myself. I come from a League background as an edge forward so this tutorial is definitely helpful in making that transition.
Thanks for your message. That is fantastic! I hope all goes well with your transition and for the rest of the season. I think you will feel at home in the mid field!
@@DeLaSports Awesome as, I've been doing a fair bit of research on Union and for what it takes to be an effective player and you've nailed it on the head for a Centre. I think I do have a good blank slate to start off as someone who is 6'4 and 100kg and I do believe that with training I can be a versatile player whether be in the forwards or backs.
Hi, I used to play long ago, especially centre, and watching your video I just remembered all you said, even about how to pass and protect yourself...and all those movements are kind of natural even now after years that I stopped playing.....One question...what's the main difference between 12 and 13? When I played I didn't notice lots of basic differences...even though I prefered to play 12...and I think that 13 can suffer a bit more in defense if the 10 and 12 don't do their job well...thanks
Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for your message. Great question. My brother is an ex international 12 that also player 13. I'm going to shortly make a video hopefully with him discussing this. I will put a link once filmed and uploaded
What a great channel, I 'll get my boys to have a look! XX Enjoyed watching these tips as a Kiwi who loves Rugby! :) Now let me check out your playlist :)
I have never played organised rugby for a team and i will be playing u15 im a small and am thinking of playing wing do u have any tips or areas that would be crucial to train or what do i need to be able to do well like should i need to perfect rucking or tackling .like what do i focus on as a beginner ,great videos i have looked up about 50 small ones and this has everything, thanks
This is great news that you taking up rugby. I'd say Set yourself small targets 🎯 with the help of your local coaches. Really work hard on your rugby fitness as well as basic skills. Catch Pass Tackle Technical & Tactical skills are extremely important to focus on. Playing on the wing especially work on your Aerial skills ( Catching High balls, tracking back etc. Long term look to work on your kicking game too. Hope it makes sense.
Hi Luigi Thanks for your message. Can I just check, is there something specific for example attacking or defence you would like me to make a video about? Thanks
Being in a position where it is uncomfortable is not nice but it is your best friend. It will help you to develop and find out your true character. Pressure reveals your real character. Have you considered asking your coach what is required when playing to ensure positiong isn't "bad".
Thank you for the support, I haven't uploaded for a while but will certainly look to create new content to help and support where we can hopefully in the near future.
When your team is defending and you have fantastic line speed, that is when you can read the play and if you are two passes away, it is always best to line up on the inside of the player you are marking. Try to close down the space then if you do try to intercept and you miss it then you can still get to the player. I hope that makes sense
I have included most of the tips in this video. But running straight is key. You need to constantly improve your intelligent running lines to he manipulative towards the defence and very deceptive. That will make u unpredictable and extremely difficult to play against. Learn how to delay your run. And run from depth to be able to run straight. Ur first 2 metres should be straight.
good video, i really want to improve as a centre, i have always played 13 and now being played 12, im not really comfortable suddenly playing a different position
Hi Charlie. Sorry for the late reply. I always wanted to play 9 and for a long time wasn't able to so I ended up playing all of the other positions in the backline. It was uncomfortable but with the support of family and being open to it, It became easier. What I found was when I came back to playing 9, I was so much more confident, dynamic and I had a better understanding of what was expected at this position and then I wasn't moved from 9 after that. I embraced playing 9 so much more after playing the other positions. Keep going and be open to it. You might end up being world class at 12 because of your 13 experience or like me you may go back to 13 and the experience at 12 will have helped. I hope that helps.
Thanks for the support and for the question. As a fly half you have to be able to run the game. Know your teams strengths and weaknesses. Bring players into the game by running the show and trying to be the show. 1 - Passing skills off both hands 2 - Kicking Game out of hand as well as Goal Kicking is crucial skills to have. 3 - Tackling should be your bread and butter. Any forward running down your channel should think twice. As a 12 Great running lines, definitely a SUPERPOWER to possess. Be comfortable playing uncomfortable on the GAINLINE. Be very good at running into the spaces not the face. Good decision making understand relentless pressure. Very good passer of the ball of both hands. Picking the right pass is a game changer, be able to pop pass and catch plus throw a 10m pass comfortably if necessary. There's loads of areas to look at to keep mastering but hopefully this helps. Keep up the great work. Stay true to yourself because it all comes down to Confidence
Wow, I don't know what position you'll be playing. If it were me I'd try to look for work, get my hands on the ball... Focus on catch/pass. Try to ease into the contact if possible. Most important try to enjoy being on the field especially still playing at such a good age 36. Well done and all the best. Enjoy
Yesss bro, this sort of channel has been missing from RUclips so glad to see you guys getting in there 👍🏿
