Hi Brandon! I watched a video series you made rebuilding a Johnson 9.9 outboard because I was thinking about rebuilding mine! I have a question for you. I checked the compression and each has 125 psi! I have replaced every electrical part, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel lines, and rebuilt the carb, checked for fuel leaks and can not figure out why the motor runs great and then shuts down after a few minutes of running! I was thinking maybe it's the reed valves or last maybe the pistons are scored and once they get hot they lose compression? I don't know what it could be! Do you have any idea what it could be?
@@BrandonsGarage The fuel pump is an aftermarket pump. I have tried 3 different fuel pumps and same thing happens. Yes it will start up after it stalls but it wont run as long the second third fourth go around. I have to rev it to keep it running then it stalls.
Hi I have and issue with the manual release screw. It is jammed. Have tried an impact driver with no success. Currently soaking it with atf fluid and diesel. Any other thoughts
"Internal pressure release valves prevent the unit from moving the outboard into the tilt range while it is under power" Is that true with my 1995 90hp Evinrude? I never tried it.
Is everyone's you tube screen different now? You can't watch a vid without suggestions on the screen? I bet this will be pop with channels,.....click to watch, and instantly click away because they put up another rec.
I like listening and watching these old videos. It reminds me of high school......
Thanks Brandon, this is great. My Yamaha 90 doesn't have a trailering bracket, how should it be trailered without putting stress on the hydraulic ram?

Where did you get your fuel pump?
After it dies, does it turn back on?

I have a 93 evinrude 50 hp n it wont stay in gear in reverse and grinds i think is the cluch dog do you ahve a video on something of that sort ?
Should I replace my power trim and tilt fluid, or just top it off? I don't love the idea of keeping 35 year old hydraulic fluid.
Is it probably fine, but you could?
I have no idea. I don't recall a maintenance plan of replacing the fluid.
