this has been going on for years , i've even been in a few grps doing this.. i don't think its an exploit. resetting an instance isnt a exploit.. and if it is.. blizz would have to ban 1000's of players
When you're using game mechanics that could be potentially bugged and behave in an unintended manner it could be classified as abuse/glitching/hacking. So yea, Blizz will probably take action against the repeat offenders.
Blizzard is pretty clear on what constitutes an exploit. The definition is broad enough to include this exploit. From their TOS "Using third-party programs to automate any facet of the game, exploiting bugs, or engaging in any activity that grants an unfair advantage is considered cheating. Exploiting other players is an equally serious offense. Scamming, account sharing, win-trading, and anything else that may degrade the gaming experience for other players will receive harsh penalties." The check is 2 fold. 1). Is this a bug? If it's a bug, they are exploiting it. If it's NOT a bug (and it may not be considered a bug due to the nature of replication. I would say this is more of an oversight in the coding, than an actual bug, but I am not Blizzard.) 2). Does this activity grant an unfair advantage? Well.. again it's unclear if Blizzard will define this as an unfair advantage. The loot that drops is not any higher iLvl than what would normally drop, and you have to spend the time to do the farm, and the drop chance isn't changed. So it's hard to say it offers an unfair advantage more so that it offers an accelerated path. That being said, it could be argued both ways. My policy is simple. I've invested far too much time and money into my account to do anything that could be construed as an exploit or abuse. It's NOT worth the risk. The gear isn't important enough to deprive you of the overall enjoyment of the game.
This has been around forever and it was never fixed. Blizzard can't blame the players or punish players for playing the game without 3rd party programs. Blaming players for your own game design is like saying we made it this way but you can't play it that way which makes 0 sense. Blizzard just needs to take accountability for their bad design and fix it.
If players know what they are doing is against what is intended then they deserve punishment for it. Especially if it has been changed beforehand. You can not just blame game design when the developers tell you exactly how it is intended to work and you ignore it or exploit it for your own benefit.
@@oeheaven Doesnt matter whether they know what they were doing or not. It was designed this way. They didnt need a 3rd party program or a hack so therefore they were just playing the game 😀
Ive spent over a dozen hours in boe farms this week and no one is logging off for the reset. I dont know exactly how it works but no one is logging off or changing lead. 99% of the time we all just walk out and leader says its reset and we go back in. It takes 10 seconds. Also mythic boes arent even on the drop table yet
mythic "boe's" are on the drop table they just aren't boe yet, they are bop. they will drop as boe in a few weeks but until then you have to farm them yourself. you are farming heroic thats the diff
@@Korimae most of these top guild have 5 to 10 plus of the same class. even if they didnt use the alt reset they still can go run it on multiple toons and just kepp doing it over and over. By the time they get back to the first unit the timer would be expired.
This so called exploit u call has existed for as long as I can recall dont put it out like it's something unheard of. Spend more time on game instead of onlyfans then you'll know.
It's clearly not intended, but if it's possible _without hacking,_ then that's on Blizzard, not on the players. I don't like this trend of Blizzard punishing players for her own inadequacy. Every step of the exploit is allowed by the game, therefore the end result is also allowed by the game. They can fix it, and they should. But punishing players is just awful, when all they did was pass lead, log out, log back in. Ridiculous, sorry.
Maybe I'm missing something but what is the new "exploit" here? You've been able to reset instances like this for a long time for farming purposes. This is what boe farm groups have been doing at least since Castle Nathria released so that's...what...9 raid tiers now? Only difference is that the drops are bop now for a few weeks instead of boe straight away so it's mostly just guilds doing the farm for gearing instead of also boe groups for gold. This is not some new tech. What are we even discussing here? If this is an exploit, it has been an exploit for the last 4 years and nothing has been done about it. So we are handing out penalties to all the people dabbling in raid boe farming for the last 9 tiers? That's tens if not hundreds of thousands of players. So go through all their drops and transaction logs and dish out penalties for something they did potentially 4 years ago? Then there's also the notion of if using alts to manipulate instance lockouts is unintended and an exploit, we have a much bigger issue here. Remember when you could use alts to hold raid logouts to circulate them to your toons to farm, for instance, the Lich King mount. That's now an exploit and everybody who has ever done is subject to penalties.
That method has been used since Original Wrath, but the drop rates were not that high for many to notice.

I've seen people doing this since Sunwell Plateau. It's not an exploit; or at least they can't claim it is, given the history of it.
So no more BoEs in first boss mobs? Have to clear first and farm the bloodhound mobs? o.O
