Great video Paul, and agree the EHC is my favourite and go too fly after watching your videos. If you get a chance take a look at my videos inspired by your page but with more tangles 😂
Hi there great to see your back after the Broonies, can I suggest a Balloon Caddis with bleached Elk hair wing in the sizes you use for your usual go to fly, high vis and a good floater.Did’nt notice a furled leader being used ,do you just use it on your shorter rod when fishing the moor streams ???Bye the way your casting is a’ok your fly goes where you Mostly Want it +you catch fish ( job done eh ). Cheers again loving your fishing exploits, keep them coming please,Andy.
Thanks for watching Thomas. The only place I can’t use that fly is when I’m on small streams and the fish are tiny. It’s too much of a mouthful for them! Thanks for the comment 👍
I’m not sure as I don’t often buy new flies but I think I tend to use 12/14 for trout. Grayling need a smaller hook I think due to their mouths being different but I don’t fish for Grayling. In the summer they try to pinch the fly away from the trout and I’ve hooked one by accident when I was dealing with a tangle and the fly was on the water at my feet! Thanks for watching and sorry I couldn’t give a better answer
@@WestCountryAngler Thanks that is a help as I have mostly 12 and a few 10 so need some 14 to have a good spread of sizes, have been using your fav floatant but fly tends to sink after 4-5 casts so guess I need to keep drying it and re apply.
It will depend upon what fly you are using. With the elk hair caddis there’s lots of material to work the floatant into but smaller flies do need more attention
hi, I have given up on mid wales rivers just now as so low you can see the bottom on the other side , mind you the rivers here have nothing like the stocks of west country rivers so going reservoirs next and hope for better luck.
Not yet but will be in the autumn. I’ve got a place in mind that will give me the room for the back cast and I’ve been sent some amazing pike flies to use!
happydays great to have you back, such a underrated fishing channel.
Thanks Ian. Really appreciate that

Thanks Craig. I’ll definitely take a look. Cheers 👍

I think I was playing on their side most of the time!! Thanks for watching and for the comment 👍

Hi Andrew. I’ll give that fly a go. No furled leader in that day. I tend to use it, like you say, with my shirt rod or with my 10’ 3# on Dartmoor.
West Country Angler ok pal ta for reply and more tight lines to you, cheers
Great video really enjoyed it. I need to dust my rod off and get some Elk hair caddis flys! 🙂

hi, what would you suggest is a good all round hook size for trout/grayling flies

We’ve had a bit of rain here so the levels are ok but almost at the point of too low. I’ll soon have to move on to other waters too
Yo dude. Any fly fishing for pike?

West Country Angler glad you got em. The bee actually got a few jacks for me over the years. Hope all is well
Thank you!! I’ve been trying to figure out who sent them to me! They look amazing and I’m dying to try them
West Country Angler no problem. I should have emailed you to let you know they were on their way. All the best
