Thank you so much! I really like it now, in fact I’m wearing it, but there were definitely times when I wanted to chuck it out of the window! I forgot to mention the part where I melted the interfacing because I had forgotten to turn the iron down 🤣

I really like the fabric and the length you chose. It’s a shame you had such a fight on your hands to tame the beast 🤣🤣 Well done Laura, a win in the end 🫶🏻😍

Definitely a case of taming the beast, Julie! I do like my finished make now though. Xxx

Oh! Laura! What a marathon! At least you made it to the party. Thanks for the mention. I rescued my Pogonip from the corner where I threw it in frustration. I opened up the cuffs and waist channels and removed the elastic. I haven't taken the extra fabric off because the sleeves were way too short and I'm just going to turn up the overlocked edges and finish them with bias tape. I hate the huge deep collar but it certainly makes me keep my chin up. Otherwise it would choke me. The fabric won't let it fold down like yours does. If I was mad enough to make it again, I'd reduce the height of the collar by an inch at least. However, I doubt if I'll ever go near that pattern again unless to feed it through the shredder! Well done for persevering with yours!

Hi Liz. I’m glad you are managing to rescue your Pogonip. I really like mine now, but I definitely wouldn’t interface the collar or at least not all of it if I did it again. My Mum loves it, but I think it’s mostly because of the fabric. She wants a top in it now so I shall have to see if I can source some more!

Hi Laura. I enjoyed listening to your journey through making the pogonip. I’ve not bought the pattern. I’m not really a boxy person. I’m glad you ended up with a wearable top. And i love the fabric. 😊

Thank you! I think we all love a happy ending, and I’m wearing the top now. I’m glad I eliminated some of the boxiness of the fit. I’m sure I will wear it more often as a result.

You are absolutely right--the fabric is great. Congratulations for pushing through and finishing the garment. It looks great, and I am so happy for you that it is really pretty, especially on you. i haven't made this particular garment, but I have experienced repeated problems on a seemingly doomed project before. Sometimes it seems that I make one mistake after another on a particular garment--often a relatively easy pattern. Sigh. If adversity builds character, when it comes to sewing, I must be a right character. Anyway, I love your Pogonip, and I am sure none of your followers will spill the beans on the mishaps you encountered.

Thank you so much - and yes, we all have makes like this from time to time. And I’m sure my secret is safe - what goes on on RUclips stays on RUclips! 😅

Hi Laura I also found that where the placket joined the base was very bulky. I also chose jersey for my pockets and lining which also stretched. Thank you for the shout out my lovely your very kind. Xxx

Hi Laura, sounds like a nightmare! I’m glad I wasn’t keen as I don’t think I could have persevered with the welt pockets, let alone any other hiccups! The maraflex from William Gee is fantastic and such good value - their customer service sounds fantastic too! X

Hi Mandy! It was definitely a test of patience at times, that’s for sure! I was really impressed with William Gee. They were so prompt at coming back to me and sorting out the problem. X

I think we all have those projects. I have been working on a quilt to coordinate with my living room and I really dislike it. I used a med grey for one of the blocks that didn’t work with the other colors, I should have added a thin border between the blocks and the outer border. I hand quilted it, but should have used a dark grey thread on the light grey border, so after 3 months of working on this project I am not happy with myself. On the other hand your pogo nip turned out nicely. The print is really striking and it looks good on you.

Thank you, Joanne. I really feel for you over your quilt making experience. Such a lot of hard work - are you going to try to use it in another room or gift it to someone?
