+Dantorp Aviation i only liked this video because i liked how the pilots returned to the gate rather than continuing. i didn't like this because i want to do the job. still, AWESOME video!
Awe, I love the B767-300ER. Amazing to have a 5 hour delay. Hanging out at the airport like that is so much fun. Great Video, can't wait for the landing.
Almost two months back, I had a British Airways flight on an A380 from DFW to Heathrow. Our flight was initially delayed by four hours cause it was coming in late from London. However, then, we were delayed an additional three hours due to a malfunction with the plane. Considering there would be no replacement British airways jets at Dallas, we were lucky enough to have the problem fixed, though we were delayed more than seven hours, and I nearly missed my connection at London.
Amazing nightlights of New York! Another great quality video, thanks for sharing. I think I would be panicking slightly if I saw smoke coming out of an engine!!
Great video Dantorp! :D at least u guys were safe and switched planes :)luckily (if so) it was still a 767-300 xD can't wait to see more videos from you Dantorp!
I do remember that nite. i work out there. we were shocked with UA 48 getting cancelled. thats a rare occurrence. that one and UA 82 are 2 of the biggest dailies we got here.
Last time I flew United it was a 737 and the plane was so damn old when the engines started big clouds of black smoke poured out of the engine which sounded like a dying fridge. Then we smelled the wonderful scent of jet fuel as the plane buzzed to the runway like a bee. When the aircraft took off I swear to god it went from grandma's fridge to grandma's Oldsmobile. Then the TV didn't work. The air condition was mysteriously hot and the peanuts tasted like they sat in a fridge for too long. When the aircraft landed it rattled like your childhood school bus and when the brakes came on it sounded like the plane was farting. As it buzzed down to the gate with the TV going up and down until it was stuck at halfway open. I swear when the captain said we could leave I heard 180 passengers sighing in relief. Never rode United again.
Lemon Juice after an airliner slows to about 60 knots they stow the thrust reversers and from that point on it actually is possible to hear the brakes sometimes.
This JUST happened to me coming back from Paris on the same type of AC; The Boeing 767-300 on DELTA.. They CANCELLED the flight leaving us stuck there for a day and a half. At least United fixed the problem and you all took off!! GO UNITED!!
What an experience! The delay sucks, but hey, better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than vice-versa! What sort of compensation did they give?
Absolutely stunning video man, wow! But why oh why would you even consider flying the 'crappy skies of United' when there's Lufthansa, the only Star in that Alliance?!
These situations are horrible! I once flew with US AIrways to Mexico City and the flight was delayed but this was 7 hours because there was no aircraft available! We ended up leaving at 3 am in the morning
Nice video and If I were you Daniel I would take LH instead of UA since LH might have a better product than UA on EWR-FRA. The same might apply for SK on EWR-CPH/ARN & OSL since SK & LH has better in flight products than UA on EWR to Europe. Perhaps Channel 9 might be useful for listening to EWR ATC
I remember both the att and gieco commercials XD but new york though i mean holy cow!! I didnt think new york would be that pretty lolol but it sure is :D
Well this does happen...:I Very unlucky! This happened to me aswell when i was in Lisbon from CPH and then on to EWR, no info for 2 hours, delay 3 hours.. Sucks balls.. Also aircraft change.. -_- That was a heavy takeoff! Beautiful lights of NYC! Since when did UA get new interior? :D
Was there no information from the flight deck that they were aware they had a problem and would be returning to stand? I would also be interested if the smoke was brought to the attention of the cabin crew so that they could inform the flight deck. Obviousley they were aware of a problem but I would like to know about that much smoke.
Once when I was going to Los Angeles from Houston,we were taxing, but they left a surge tank open.luckily,a exsperinced flyer told the flight attendant, and she told the captain.we had to refuel, they had to bring a guy to close the tank, and we all got freed TV.for a 5 hour wait I exspect 1st on a airbusA380
Rather unfortunate. I experienced a return to gate before, but not a deplaning nor boarding a replacement plane. In my case, I boarded my return flight from LAS-YYZ on an Air Canada A321 late one night in Sept. 2012 (close to midnight or so). We pushed back from the gate and turned, but immediately stopped and after 5 mins, we were headed back to the gate. The culprit was a minor glitch in the cockpit (can't remember what), but we were stuck on the plane for nearly 2 hours (45 mins to reach the maintenance department, another 30 mins waiting for them, 15 mins for them to fix the problem, and the rest waiting for an update from the pilots; they updated us 4-5 times during that span). Nearly managed to complete a viewing of 12 Angry Men (which ended shortly after we took off). We must've taxied twice as fast, and were probably flying somewhat faster than originally planned, but I ended up arriving at home more than 2 hours late.
4'25" delay and no compensation from a Star Alliances member airline/carrier? What a fact! W.O.W! So, Garuda Indonesia still much better handling their passengers, and I hope our national flag carrier must be allowed to fly into US, then we'll bet for their services to be compared. What do you think, Dantorp?
There are probably airplane that left Newark and landed at their destinations by the time it took them to realize that smoke from an engine is indeed a problem.
I bet almost every single one of those passengers went strait to their phones and complained on United's Instagram... Have you seen the comments? It's like a nuclear bomb just went off...
+Christopher o neal When I went on a trip to Israel, I had to take 3 planes. Rapid City SD to Miniapolis (I can't spell sorry) to New York NY, then Israel. It was smooth sailing. Coming back was a nightmare. The flight from Israel to NY was fine, but the flight from NY to Mineapolis was terrible. Apparantly, we had something wrong with the engine, I'm not sure what, but we had to sit on the ramp for AGES! Eventually we had to return back to the gate, where we waited 6 HOURS!!!! We flew Delta the entire time, and they were fantastic! Most of the people on the plane left to find a different plane, but Me and my family was with a huge group, so we had to stay on the same plane. FINALLY We were able to re-board, and, since most of the people left, you could go to the back of the plane, find 3 empty seats, and lie down and sleep :D
+MCOSpotting HD Because some people take the sound and put it in their fsx videos without giving him credit and also make money off those videos. And because he doesnt get money or credit he cares. Im guessing he is Jewish, White, or Asian.
Definitely not a fan blade issue directly causing that 'smoke', all most looks like fuel mist especially seeing as the engines not actually started...Fan blades may have been the reason for a failed start though but I've never heard of that causing one.
I was flying the whole day when I published this video so unfortunately I couldn't reply to comments. I just wifi the last few days so my apologies!
I hope another damn bird didn't fly into the engine AGAIN :-|
+Dantorp Aviation i only liked this video because i liked how the pilots returned to the gate rather than continuing. i didn't like this because i want to do the job. still, AWESOME video!
+Sonia Arjoon 1ol
Pilots get an A + for putting safety first . Great job !!!!!
+Ted Costopoulos (Film Guy) i agree with u
Ted Costopoulos it's their job
Safety is important as without safety, we wouldnt even be able to get to the destination.
Dafuq!?!? 1.300 clicks in just one day :D I can totally understand that, cause your videos deserve that :D
I love the view of the NJ Turnpike as the plane is taking off, it's as if the plane and the cars are racing each other :D
I would say you were lucky that the engine problem happened on the ground
Exactly
that has happend when im flying
"sit back , relax, enjoy the flight": quote right out of "Non-stop"
1:08 This video is authentic. United food service and regulated trash on the same container.
What a beautiful view of the lights of The City, at their most glamorous!
At least it happened on the ground and not in the air!
Spectacular view of New York City! Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Awe, I love the B767-300ER. Amazing to have a 5 hour delay. Hanging out at the airport like that is so much fun. Great Video, can't wait for the landing.
Can't agree more, love being at Schiphol(my home airport), i wouldn't mind staying a few more hours, duty/tax free stuff!
I was on N672UA :D great plane and great airline!!

When engines start, it is normal for a little to smoke out.
The fact that you played the audio to the safety video was a nice touch. 🤣😂
Glad your safe! Amazing video man! Love EWR!
22:50 for takeoff.
You’re the true mvp! Thank you !!
Glad 676 got you there safe. I remember working on that aircraft early last year.
Great video Dantorp! :D at least u guys were safe and switched planes :)luckily (if so) it was still a 767-300 xD can't wait to see more videos from you Dantorp!
GLAD THEY FINALLY TOOK OFF, I THOUGHT FOR A WHILE THERE THEY WERE GOING TO TAXI TO THEIR DESTINATION.
GREAT VIDEO Dantorp11 Aviation I would have been like "WE GOT ISSUES!!" lol
Glad u on the ground during the malfunction, great video mate.
Btw, i always take off from EWR then fly to PVG during breaks, really familiar to me :)
Unusual, interesting.you fly often enough you will witness events like this.Good thing it happened on the ground. Great Video!!!!
Awesome view over NYC.
Impressive the engine smoke. Thanks for sharing.
Amazing Video bro! Great Catch!
Very gradual, smooth t.o.! JFK & LGA visible!
I do remember that nite. i work out there.
we were shocked with UA 48 getting cancelled.
thats a rare occurrence. that one and UA 82
are 2 of the biggest dailies we got here.
was fun watching the plane accelerate past the highway traffic
Sorry for the delay man, they always suck! Anyways, great video as always!
Really well done! Great night view of NYC! An interesting situation to watch play out although probably not that much fun for you?!
Last time I flew United it was a 737 and the plane was so damn old when the engines started big clouds of black smoke poured out of the engine which sounded like a dying fridge. ROFLMAO EPIC DESCRIPTION!!
+AXP Bonecrusher You cant hear the planes breaks lol...
Lemon Juice I've heard the brakes on lots of planes before.
vbscript2 Those arent the brakes you hear. What you hear are called reverse thrusts.
Lemon Juice after an airliner slows to about 60 knots they stow the thrust reversers and from that point on it actually is possible to hear the brakes sometimes.

GO UNITED!!
Despite on a long delay due to a malfunction in the first flight, but a great takeoff view of NYC is extraordinary!
When you saw the smoke did you think about calling for a flt. attendant?
I always watch your videos. I think you have travelled more than vasco da gama!!!!
this was/is the longest taxi from the Gate to takeoff I've ever seen. fall asleep just trying to watch it
Love ur Videos man!
one of you´re best Videos :) !!
Thanks keep up the good work.
2:09 that’s a great music piece
cool vid dantorp keep it up
Any idea why UA48 was cancelled that day?
awesome watch thank you!
What an experience! The delay sucks, but hey, better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than vice-versa!
What sort of compensation did they give?
Great, I enjoyed it.
Why dirent they use gate C122 anymore cause I traveled somewhere and when I came back they switch my gate to C122 it was supposed to be in B53
thats a lovely cabin!
Absolutely stunning video man, wow! But why oh why would you even
consider flying the 'crappy skies of United' when there's Lufthansa, the
only Star in that Alliance?!
Hey! The aircraft N676UA in this video was used as a static plane model in X-Plane 12! A pretty weird coincidence!
These situations are horrible! I once flew with US AIrways to Mexico City and the flight was delayed but this was 7 hours because there was no aircraft available! We ended up leaving at 3 am in the morning
that AT&T commercial is so cute lol
Do you know the reason why the United flight to Mumbay returned and got canceled?
At 11.28 what was that ramp above everything? Towards the Cieling
Nice vid! Did you visit the flight?
Nice video and If I were you Daniel I would take LH instead of UA since LH might have a better product than UA on EWR-FRA. Modified food /beverage service would not be done on LH. I was on a FRA-TLV flight and had a full hot dinner at 11:15 PM with drinks.
Any knowledge on the reason why the 777's flight was cancelled?
Great Video! But do you know why UA48 returned to the gate?
4:33
I've been delayed at Terminal C before it's fun!
I thought that you'll jump out after seeing the smoking engine :)
it looks really scary, but you had luck it could happen in the air.
Why was UA048 to BOM cancelled?
Same cabin and flight crew for the 2nd attempt?
Rather unfortunate. I experienced a return to gate before, but not a deplaning nor boarding a replacement plane. What happened to the mumbai flight? why was i cancelled!?
Great video and where you fly on video ? :)
MORE GREAT FOOTAGE AND SOUND...ESPECIALLY THE "UNITED JINGLE" THEME OF FLY THE FRIENDLY SKIES. THANKS!
What happened to your connecting flight in FRA to GOT?
Billy Joe Jim Bob forgot to tighten a hose clamp.
yo volé con United y todo bien, volvería a viajar con ésta aerolinea,ésto es un caso puntual.
great vid thx
4:34 looks like a failed ignition..white smoke = fuel in some case.
Would be a little more scary if it happened in the air
Happened to me on DL 1737 from BWI - DTW except for the smoke. There was a generator problem.
same when i was hending to orlando
United @ its best. At least they they didn't beat you before you disembarked.
4'25" delay and no compensation from a Star Alliances member airline/carrier? What a fact! W.O.W! So, Garuda Indonesia still much better handling their passengers, and I hope our national flag carrier must be allowed to fly into US, then we'll bet for their services to be compared. The anouncement should say "we would rather keep you alive than take off on time. Thank you for your patence."
Why was the flight to Mumbai cancelled?
+Michael Klein ran out of curry
+madisonelectronic LOL
+madisonelectronic comment that my day!
+madisonelectronic HEHEHEHUHAH
The taxing takes longer than the trip lol
How's the legroom in economy?
So which passenger was dragged
I bet the malfunctioning aircraft was taken to maintenance immediately!
ahahhahh I loved the comment : "I'm not the person talking"....
There are probably airplane that left Newark and landed at their destinations by the time it took them to realize that smoke from an engine is indeed a problem.

+Nick757 facebook and twitter too if they are as bad as everyone says fly with someone else very simple stuff happens

United needs to fix all of their messes its sad tbh
Not really uniteds fault for a engine malfunction...
If I saw smoke I would of screamed there is smoke coming out of the engine and start crying lol
this sound isnt copyright protected by anyone, if only UAL, you dont have permission yourself to use it.
I work for chealse united airlines here in Houston I like it thums up.
LOL AT&T commercial
Flight deck?
Why are you so concerned about people using your sound without permission?
+MCOSpotting HD Because some people take the sound and put it in their fsx videos without giving him credit and also make money off those videos. And because he doesnt get money or credit he cares. Im guessing he is Jewish, White, or Asian.
so do it your self make money out of it punk Dramatic
2:10 Did I start hearing Rhapsody in Blue?
Also what's that sound at 8:22?
+JesseIsBest oh yes you did, love it!
+JpGaming its the flaps going up

The engine was started
+Danny Hernandez it was motoring..not actually started, theres a difference
Is this your flight ?
