The Taylor was much more rounded with strong mids and that 'Taylor' sound. I also detected a hint of toast. The Yamaha seemed brighter and more crisp in the leads much like fresh icy air. I would recommend either of these guitars with a nice Cabernet Sauvignon and any assortment of aged cheeses.
Disclaimer: I bought a A3M (dred) new at a local music store. Kudos to Yamaha for producing this guit. Pro sounding and playing, soulful, unique. There's a lot of skill, knowledge and mother nature packed in.
The YAMAHA has a more balanced tone and volume for all string (SRT Modeling only), the Taylor here has ES1 which is a magnetic pickup that is amazing for the 4 wound string but is very steely on the B and E stings I have a Taylor 214CE DLX with ES1 and if I had to buy an acoustic guitar again I would've bought the YAMAHA for everything ( sound, price, ALL SOLID, Mic Images, and it sound way more real plugged in)
The Yamaha is a great buy for the money. I've played the AC3 Rosewood and the Mahogany. I prefer the Rosewood version. It has a more complex tone than the Mahogany but because of the nature of Rosewood, doesn't project as well. I personally did not care for the composite neck on the AC3 much the same as Taylor uses on the 110, 114 series. I have a 114e and I like everything about it except the neck. It feels weird to me. The Yamaha vs the 114 would be a better comparison as they are at a similar price point and body style. The 114 also uses a composite back and sides whereas the Yamaha is all real wood. Yamaha's proprietary pick up system and EQ offers more control over your tone on the guitar itself, but I am not a fan of the plastic box EQ cut into a guitar's body. Still, for the money if you're going to use it into an amp or a PA a lot, I suppose it's not a big deal. As far as looks (cosmetics) go, you get more "bang for the buck" with the Yamaha.
I have an Yamaha fgx800 but I’m hoping to get a Taylor one day. At its price point, the Yamaha is outstanding; however, Taylor has an unmatched “warmth” and lows that resonate to the soul when in the right hands. Again, owning a Yamaha is amazing especially at that price. $300 guitar that sounds like you paid $800
Hi ! I wanted to ask you just a little question : in whch amp do you plug those 2 guitars ? And was the amp EQ flat ? Just to have an idea of the sounds. The Yamaha and its SRT 63 system seems to have more sounds possibilities. Thanks by advance for a little answer, and Thanks for sharing, this video was cool to watch and listen to. CIAO BYE !
ac3m is hard to beat for value costs a fraction of the price of the taylor these are both lovely guitars .i really think yamaha have come up trumps with their new a series i think they are superb ...
Thanks for sharing. What riff are you playing? I can't see all of your chord shapes. Not only are the body styles different, as you noted, but so are the body woods. Now a really telling comparison would be between the AC3R ($900), 712CE ($2850), and Martin OMCPA4R ($1300). It would very interesting to hear the differences between similarly constructed guitars at these very different price points.
Circuit Rider Effects Missed that. Sorry. But the 310CE is Sapele I think. Close enough to mahogany. Whatever the case, I'd be curious to see a Martin OMCPA4 Sapele in the mix. Again, does the riff have a name? If not, what's the chord progression?
He probably assumed the watchers already know which is which just because they clicked on it. Taylor is the 2nd one btw with the less fancier pick guard lol
What strings are you using? A lot of the sound difference could be due to the fact that elixirs tend to be more bright, wider, etc than the cheaper strings that yamaha puts on theirs.
yamaha, while they make really great quality for the price, do stock with cheap strings. a fresh set of your preferred strings always bring the guitar up another level.
oh my god you're doin the comparision between dreadnaught body which is Taylor and Concert body which is Yamaha guitars??? I think it would be so meaningful if you compared with Yamaha A3R with 314CE
Good demo, I don't hear any real difference between them. I have a Yamaha 300 Red Label, 350W Brown label and a Yamaha 700 Stratocaster. I love Yamaha guitars. I have been playing for over 40 years, still learning. Whenever I go into a music store and I pick up a Taylor, I cream my pants, I want one but will not part with the 2K . I also have tried the new A series Yamaha's AC3M & AC3R and found them to be boring, no interest in buying one. Just my 2 cents
....I hit replay and replay and replay again.....can't hear a difference......I would push the savings to the $1500- $1600 level and get a Martin GPCPA4 or GPCPA4 Shaded.....THAT is where I can hear a difference......I guess the point of this demo is that a $900 guitar does as well as a $2K acoustic....in a side- street bar with glasses clanging, a low rumble of conversation and ice banging, who is going to know ??

*slow claps*
❤️
The Yamaha has a nose that one might describe as oaky. The Taylor smelled like feet.

I did the same thing I bought the 214ce Deluxe turned around and bought the Yamaha give me the Yamaha any day... plus the money I would have saved
@@georgemercer3013 I have the same situation 😂😂😂 funny.
Bought Taylor 210ce deluxe, now Im going to exchange it on Yamaha a3r

Thanks dude, no both are mahogany and spruce.

The riff is just some random progression I made up I dont remember exactly, I am pretty decent at improvising at any given time.
Is this direct plugged in sound?
in this video Taylor has a much wider and high definition sound
What the hell. Did i miss the part where he mentions which one is which ??? Which guitar is the one he started the video with ? Yamaha or Taylor ???
He probably assumed the watchers already know which is which just because they clicked on it. Taylor is the 2nd one btw with the less fancier pick guard lol
You can also see Taylor's typical expression system control knobs when he plays that guitar (2nd)
Thanks guys, beginner here haha
Not to mention the price difference in Yamaha's favor
Love your video but I wanted to know which one was the Yamaha and the other Taylor

Jeremy Brewer my a3m came with elixirs
Ac3r comes with elixirs stock. Mediums, actually. This is the beginning of Yamaha's upper range, so they ditch the cheap strings.

Cellphone ringtone won! 6:51 😂😂😅

wow...yamaha has a new pickup called srt system...i think even better to taylor when recording ...
duel Duil agreed
Great demo thanks, taylors are o er priced imo
Yamaha much better
it has to be unplugged...
doing like this you are comparing preamps...
For the price difference and specs Yamaha blows Taylor out of the water sound comparison would've been better unplugged
Is this on a loop? zzzzzzzzzz You never indicate which is which. Also, mute before unplugging.

yamaha red series is where it is at.
secondo me è lui che non sa suonarle...!

Your sound is awful
