Well that's a perfect video for beekeepers related with masks for OA sublimation. Your content getting only better and better and I really love it, congratulations and thank You!
Hey Tautvydas! Thanks very much! We upgraded our editing software recently so really appreciate the postive feedback 🙌
thanks for a good thorough video
Cheers Mark!
That's the exact setup that I use and it works very well as long as it's fitted properly. You're correct in that you can close your eyes to avoid the vapor but once you breathe it in it's too late. Thanks!
Cheers Rodney! Great to hear you use the same set up. Its truly horrible stuff 😞
@@BlackMountainHoney I see people not wearing a respirator and they are coughing all I can think of is how much damage they doing to their lungs unknowingly. It makes my lungs hurt!!
@@rodneymiddleton9624 I know. It actually makes me wince a bit!
Excellent content.
I wear 3m disposable masks rated for bio gases, I've a bee keeping mate, who never uses a mask, he is convinced he's safe by staying up wind! (I've sent him this video!)
Happy new year Lawrence,to you and yours. Have a happy, healthy and fulfilling 2021.
Stuart
Hey Stuart! Glad to hear to you are stayimg safe and have done your research..I expect nothing less from you! 😀 Thank you - happy new year to you too!
Just takes a moment and a change of direction and he'd be in a whole heap of trouble...
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to avoid doing this treatment but the bees need it so here I am. The link to the 6059 Filter Set for the US isn't working btw.
The mask and goggles are exactly what I use and find them great but also with my bee suit on just for the hives that rush out to see what’s going on,I wear welding gloves for all those hot parts of the process, you do feel like a spaceman though.🐝👍
Yes I often wear my bee suit over the top as they can get miffed quite quickly. If I am using the gas vap I use welder gloves as well as that thing gets 🔥🥵
Great video, the only problem is that the link to the filter set does not work. Are you able to update it?
Thanks for sharing the links. I work with it to clean CLT and Glulams. Horrible stuff.
Good job
Cheers Rick :)
Fogging can be prevented by using a small amount of fairy liquid or dish soap mixed with small amount of water.
3m 60923 pink/p100 prefilter,yellow acid filter combination is what i use
That's a great piece of protective kit! It has the additional acidic protection elements. No such thing as overkill when health and safety is concerned! :)
Hi
Can I ask - we changed to swienty hives but have a glow plug made sublimation tool. I see you use a wooden eek with a hole in on top - if I made the hole larger to fit the tool into Would this work the same as your machine. I haven’t got £500 spare to change this year.
I hear some have used this tool direct onto the mesh through the entrance but I’m worried I’ll melt the hive? Hope you can spare a minute to help. Many thanks
Can't see that being an issue. Just make a larger hole in the eke.
Make up a solution of baby shampoo and water, spray on the inside of the goggles or mask, stops all the fogging
If you spray a weak solution of washing up liquid on to the visor and let it dry it will stop fogging
Nice tip Joe. I will give that a whirl!
You’ll get an even better seal if you’re clean shaven (sorry, I’m not hating the beard 😅)
I don’t see any links or product numbers?
Links and numbers should be in video comments?
Can you set up your Amazon purchase on USA Amazon site?
Hi Ted. Good shout! US links should be up and running now! Loads cheaper than over here in the UK! ;)
@@BlackMountainHoney I was worried more about shipping cost. Thank you for your videos. The best info I have found from any other channel.
@@tedworkman2536 Eeek. UK prices plus import costs. It would be cheaper to fly over and collect them yourself! Thanks Ted. Glad you like our videos and thanks for watching! Have a great 2021!
The beard will break the seal of the mask shave close and double check the seal.

How many years did it take you to get to 100 colonies ?
Around 6-7 years. We also have around 80 nucs on top of the production colonies
@@BlackMountainHoney I have 5 hives, I am not worried about honey this year. So is it possible to go to 20 hive, and still do it so hives not stretched to far.
@@norfolkhoneybee273 Its very easy to split out hives to make up numbers FAST but only if you sacrifice honey completely and FEED. 5 colonies to 20 colonies in one year is easily achievable.
@@BlackMountainHoney What exactly do you feed and how long? I know obviously sugar syrup but what strength and fir how long? What about Candipollen or Ultra bee pollen sub at the same time?
There's also the issue of the sugar syrup fermenting or crystallizing in the comb. How does one stop this?
Too many swipe cuts as they become distracting and can cause motion sickness. Try to use blur fades or straight cuts more often as you haven't moved between scenes. Otherwise very informative and engagjng. Keep up the good work.
Thats great feedback - thanks Roy. New software, so trying to get to grips with it.
Gotta make sure you’re protected using OA.
Definitely! Its truly horrible stuff to get into your lungs!
