Welcome to the genre! Awesome shots! I have been doing this all my photo life (I'M 70 heehee) I have been shooting Olympus all the time, I have dual EM1Xs, and the 300 f4, 100-400 etc, amazing setup.
Wow David. Is there anything you can’t photograph. Amazing shots. I do wildlife and it is a very frustrating photography art. Because patience is key of which I really don’t have any either. Thank you again for inspiring.
Hey David. Nice to see you stretching out and showing us we can take this road. Very nice shoots, too. But I have to ask you - did you say 120FPS? 120??? Holy smokes! How do you cull all those images? Is this electronic shutter setting? Do you get warping in your images?
Great question! Yes, it's an electronic shutter speed up to 120 fps which is silly. I thought there would be some issues with it but there's no warping. Everything was tack sharp. As for the culling... patience LOL
@@LandscapePhotographyUniversity Thank you!. I love your work and your videos. You take time and explain so clearly. BTW, at one time I believe your wife and you were on mission ( do I have that right?) - are you back from that effort?
Great post, David. You sure picked a great spot for birds. So many different species in one locale. I especially like the red winged black bird and the owl. I'm with you when i comes to preferring landscape to bird photography, but one can't always find stunning landscapes so birding is a great second option.
Nice video! Careful the wildlife photography can get addictive! Like you said at the end, its a good way to "scratch the photography itch" and motivate you to get outside, even locally, when you can't get some place for landscape photography. I started as a landscape photographer, and still am, but not tend more towards wildlife overall. I will say starting with landscapes will improve your wildlife composition skills faster. Keep up the nice work on the videos!
Great photos/videos of kestral, hawk and owl. The bokeh is very nice with that camera. Great captures for first time ume out with a new camera. I am sure there are several RUclips videos on how to set it up for optimum capture. Which tracling and AF modes to use. Does it have bird-eye detect?
Thanks Steve! So I used continuous AF with AI Bird Detection and the continuous electric shutter mode. The AI Bird Detection will find the eyes for you or if you can see the eyes it will lock onto the bird itself and it rarely jumped focus. Pretty cool feature!
Welcome back to M43! You have a great system there! Redwing blackbirds are premium shots and make for beautiful prints. Thanks for the video!! Leading a bird, like hunting, is helpful if you've ever hunted. If not, this will be even more fun...lol Now go home address those mosquito bites! Love these videos
@@LandscapePhotographyUniversity Oh I think you'll always have a $ony in your backpack but, I can highly recommend the craftsmanship of the camera, lenses, and the results. Beware of snakes and ticks... :) Looking forward to more of these.^May I recommend Espen Helland...He would be a good study for your new weapon. ruclips.net/video/qlw7dFyZUrs/видео.html
Probably should be pointed out that a decent lens suitable for wildlife & bird photography is going to be a significant outlay 'just to scratch the itch'; so renting one for a few days makes sense.
Great video! Red-winged blackbird around 2:45. Awesome footage of the kestrel and the owl.
Appreciate the help identifying the birds! Haha

Oh nice! I really appreciate you watching!
Chase the light and the wind. Both at your back. Birds take off into the wind. It is a great genre.
That’s great advice thanks!

I’d like to credit my toddler for giving me a new found appreciation for quiet and stillness 😂

That’s a great point. LensRentals is good. I usually go with Aperturent though.
