Absolutely. Hobbies are good in a milion ways; the give you a sense of progress. Like you could not do this crochet stitch yesterday, but today you can. You didn't know the word for 'friend' in Greek yesterday, but today you do. Also, I specifically think a lot of people would benefit greatly from hobbies that physically create something. Totally different topic, but making a scarf or a cinnamon bun or a ceramic plate with your own two hands can really, really change your attitude towards just consuming products. Like when you understand the labor that goes into things, when you gain control over thoughtfully picking the things you surround yourself with, instead of just hoarding, you can become more conscious about your choices.
