I don’t even know why this didn’t become a wonderful show. The acting and this is superb, and I love the relationship, the honest, thoughtful relationship between the grandpa and Heather. Look like a very great chemistry, and very good storylines in the making centered around that relationship. It’s just too bad.
Some really great range here from the young miss. Her comedic timing is on point, and I like her chemistry with her grandpa. Otherwise it's a pretty paint-by-numbers deal as a sitcom. Small wonder that it made no noise in an already saturated marketplace.
I recently found out that The Arthur Company (which produced this pilot) had another pilot in 1985 called "The O'Briens" which had Darren McGavin and Peter Billingsley from "A Christmas Story" playing father and son yet again. Sean Astin and Jason Hervey appeared as McGavin's other two sons. It would be a real treat if someone had that to share on here!
Robert Mandan almost saves this. No offense to Heather, who was fine here, but she couldn't have carried it on her own with this writing. Mandan was such a pro, though, and played everything he did with conviction and class. The two of them together might have made a go of this had it been given a shot. If I were a network exec looking at this, I'd have ordered a second pilot in which Heather's character goes to live with her grandfather (writing out the parents & yuppie angle completely), instead of the other way around.
October 1986 Robert Mandan's character "Dr. Bruce Gaines" marries Mrs. Garrett and she leaves Facts of Life. He had a family on the side the whole time.....with Nanette "Grandma Katherine Romano" Fabray from One Day at a Time. She looks better here! I liked their interactions - it was as if they had worked together for years. Heather O'Rourke was one of the kids from Gen X that you wanted to be around a long time. She would have been a year behind me in school - born right after Christmas 1975. 13:20 Howard Mortion fresh off of Gimme a Break! That show was never the same after the Chief died. Who would have thought a *penguin coffee pot* would get such laughter lol.
I don’t remember seeing this show. It must have been one of the times I was staying with my grandmother and we only had a few stations. Or it could have been when I was a teenager partying all the time not watching TV.
It was a pilot episode. Studios would film one episode of a new show, send it out to production to see if anyone buys it. This show never got picked up, so this was the only episode and it never aired.
This has nothing to do with Heather O' Rourke, but I can see why this show was not aired. Absolutely terrible. Again, Not Heather's fault. I am not insulting her at all.
Amazing acting by Heather O'Rourke.❤
I couldn’t do it. She’s on target and to the next . Would have liked to seen her grown up in mature roles. So sad
I can’t believe how good the quality of this video after all these years, it certainly stood the test of time.
It's too bad this wasn't picked up. It is really great & fun to watch. Robert & Heather are adorable show stealers!
Adorable little blonde angel.🕊🕊🕊. I want To cry😪😭😭😭by his disparition.....R💛I💛P💛

It's sad how Robert Mandan and Nanette Fabray would both outlive Heather. Heather died in 1988 while Robert and Nanette died two months apart in 2018.
I believe that this could have been a great show.
R.I.P Heather O’Rourke
Still amazing acting by Heather o Rourke
Thanks for sharing !! Love Heather.
I get why that pilot wasn't picked up, Heather was the only good actress there!

I totally would have watched this growing up!! 😭 so sad it never aired or anything. Just seeing Heather in the intro made me emotional.
This was a really great video. TY for sharing it. God Bless You & stay safe.

I miss Darren McGavin
Glad to see full length very good story

Thanks for posting this rare tv show with the late Heather O’Rourke! She was such a talented young actress!
Beautiful Heather 🤩

Heather is so charismatic.
We're not broke were over extended
Grandpa from the United States.
Mum and Dad from Canada.
wow...the networks must have passed... very formula type show for the times... shame it did not get picked up ..
Heather O Rourke Documentary Coming Out Hopefully This Year
If despicable me was made in the 1980s, heather o’rouke should voice Agnes.

What a neat little treasure
why didn't it aired
Such a Beautiful child❤
Robert Manden was previously in another failed sitcom "Threes a Crowd" with John Ritter.Just 2 years before.😊
I miss her
Cute pilot, shame it wasn't picked up - maybe we'd still have Heather if it was
rip
For show named " Here to Stay" it sure left rather quick...lol 😂
R.I.P
Heather ...🏵️🌻🌼🌸🌺🌼🌻🌸🌺🌹🌸🌷🏵️🌻🌼
This could have worked if maybe they had different actors for the parents.
Sad this didn’t become a real show
Wasn't Madam Foch also on the Golden Girls? She played the girl whose husband was in bed with Rose when he died. (Al)
A-a😍
Can see why never aired
Was this a pilot show that never got picked up?

Omg, who knew that she was in something other than poltergeist? Ain’t never seen anything.
She was in a lot of things even happy days
