I really enjoy your videos. As a retired mechanic that pushed to the retirement finish line of 65, I understand. I found that both shoulders have been torn for so long they cannot repair. So, any overhead work is painful. That being said, there was most likely some sheet-rockers crying as they watched you working. I have watched some and they appear to be throwing it up and screwing it before it falls. I had a house build in 1986 and they sheet-rocked the whole house in one day. Clearly you are happy to have it closed in. You have set some goals and managed to push forward and made it happen. I will be 69 years old in March 2025 and I know you probably had some nights that were hard to get to sleep from aches and pains. God Bless your New Year. Don
Thank you, Don- I don’t mind going to sleep sore and achy- as long as I wake up with improvement. That way I know I’m just sore and not injured. I think most professional trades are a little frustrated with my speed and technique, but for me it’s just part of learning. Appreciate you watching Don and sharing your experiences. 😊
Hi, Garry- We knew we’d get some comments about not staggering those full sheets. Maybe a little lazy on my part - and “it’s just a garage” mentality. It definitely will get sealed up but doesn’t have to look perfect in my book. 😁
Howdy y’all- the doors look great! Always good to have a house dried in and be able to work inside. It was always a push to get to that point. Take care and God bless
Good job on getting dried in. Don't know what drywall lifts rent for where you are at, but if you will need to rent very often you might be better off to purchase a lift and then sell it when you are done. That will take some stress off when renting to get more done than you are really wanting to do. Also, when you go to rent, it might already be rented out. Ask how I know about that happening!! I setup my laser so that I don't miss the stud when screwing the drywall up. I know, the people that do drywall all the time can hit the stud every time. But I don't do drywall all the time. The laser makes it so I hit the middle of the stud every time. Thanks for bringing us along
Thank you, Mike- I’m hoping not to need that much drywall. But good point! I think I’m going to get some rolling scaffolding for doing the tongue and groove. The laser is another good idea- we have been using it more and more. 😊
Watching these videos from the UK and binge viewing them, great house well done it looks stunning and glad you are all dried in, the weather can do what it wants now ! keep up the great work and look forward to more videos 👍
Hey Greg and Beth, New Subscriber here. I'm speechless. Your doing exactly what is floating around in my mind for over 1 year. I have been watching RUclips voraciously for all vids that will teach me just exactly what you are doing. I don't know why Googles Algorithm has taken so long to suggest your channel to me?? Well, now that I'm here, I'll say that I watched your first vid about your land and then went to playlists and there it was. The "Monitor Barn". AWESOME!!! My first impressive take is that you were able to mill your Barndominium with as little as 5 acres of land. I've been checking out land in PA and they have a farm rule that the property must be 10 acres or over. What is disgusting is the cost. Covid and Bitcoin has inflated the price for land by at least 4 X's. Maybe land is less expensive up by you in Idaho. Been in FL for 15 years and it's time to get moving on for FL is not as cheap to live in as it used to be. It's a "Dream" also but your doing it so why can't I. Hoping to learn all that you have to show me. BTW, there are a few other RUclips Channels up in Northern Idaho and I wonder if you ever tried to have a meet and greet. That would be pretty cool. Let me run for now with saying that "Your Absolutely Killing It". I love the Monitor and the Gambrel and it is the way to go for a Shop/House. I'm just a little jealous, many times over. The Best, Gerry
Welcome to our channel and our dream! 😊 We went with the monitor style because of the windows- but you can’t beat a gambrel barn. As far as the land and logs go - we are blessed with really nice Douglas fir . But with harvesting your own trees comes a lot of work and expense. For our area the ability to buy a load of logs is nice and pretty good value. Land prices in north Idaho are high in my opinion- but it is beautiful up here. Might be fun to have an open house someday! 😊
Hi, Bill- Never even looked into that. Garage is the only place that’s getting drywall on the ceiling. Everywhere else (mostly) is getting tongue and groove. 😊
Congratulations on completing "drying in" your home; wish you had ended this video with a viewing of all of the external aspects of this structure. I like watching the completion of the various aspects of completing construction but I hate losing site of the beautiful timbers.
First time watcher. I heard you say you're going to do the bottom first. Then the top. I'd think it would be easier to do the top first so that you can bring in and store the materials in the open bottom. Then once it's done you can do the bottom working from the rear to the front??
Thanks for watching, David! We are just happy to be framing and on to the next project. We need to do the subfloor upstairs first which means moving around all those heavy sheets. Neither one of us are eager to start that right now- plus it’s going to get cold for awhile. 😊
With soooo much drywall to hang....why do you keep renting the drywall lift....You can buy the for $150 and up?????? Was the overhead door finished on the other end of the building????
Hi, Richard- Thought about buying one but decided to rent a couple of times. Just another thing to store and sell. Most of the ceilings are going to be tongue and groove. 😊
Let's just get the drywall up and get it out of her way don't worry about insulating your place this makes no sense to me what's the weather poor Man's way of doing a job
Pistols don't make sense at all why are you not insulating the whole upper floor before you put on the drywall do you know how cold your foes are going to be upon the second level I was interested in watching you but when I see a person do a half ass job makes me not want to watch the rest of your program
That's my dream ,only smaller. Garage apartment. Congrats
Our dream as well !!
Thank you for watching, Nancy. 😊
@ourdreaminthewoods your welcome...subscribed!!

Sheet rock lift is so nice! Back saver!!
Thank you- it’s a game changer for sure! 😊
Congratulations, you guys are building one beautiful home . Good for you and your family
We usually fit plaster board in a broken bond pattern, it helps to limit joints from possible long cracks and showing through the finish decorating.

Love the look of the doors 😊. At least most of the outside work is done for now and you can stay a little warmer.
Thank you, Larue- We love the doors too !
It can snow and blow all it wants now😁
Way to go now you can work all winter inside and warm.
Yes- Definitely looking forward to being a little warmer! 😁
Happy for you, the doors look great.

Thank you! And thank you for watching from the Nederland - so cool. 😊
Big milestone! It all get's warmer from here.
Hi, James- Our little heaters don’t do much to heat up the whole space, but mentally it feels warmer. 😁
Looks absolutely amazing with the new door's and window
Thank you- we love it! 😊
looking great!!
Thank you so much! 😊
No vapor barrier? Especially in the Garage section where there is more vapor
Vapour barrier always on the heat side.
We definitely didn’t put one up - I’ll have to look into that. Learning as we go. 😁

White primer inside garage doors ready for painting.
Hi, Jeffrey- I hadn’t even considered doing anything with the inside color of those doors.
Too much on my mind to think of painting them right now 😁
nice work 👍
Thank you! 😊
Very awesome. Its a labor of love, move at your pace and enjoy the process. Happy new year 🎉

Congrats on finally gotten ur Garage Doors installed and dried-in. some more time and money, this building will last until ur son gets older..
Thank you, Billy- Time and money is right - slowly but surely it’s moving forward. 😊
Should strap your ceilings makes drywall easier plus it holds the rafters from twisting tightens the building up to
Hi, Bill- Never even looked into that.
Garage is the only place that’s getting drywall on the ceiling. Everywhere else (mostly) is getting tongue and groove. 😊
Nice! Just found your RUclips channel. House is looking great.
The pressure is off. Awesome feeling, I’m sure! 😊
Totally. It’s a great milestone. 😊

Thank you, Jim! 😊
@ourdreaminthewoods ❤️
Great job guy's ! Nice to have that extra help them doors are a big job 👍, Good thinking ahead with the drywall :) work safe take care "

New Subscriber
Great build
Thank you! 😊
Are you intending to drywall the wall the garage doors are on? If so would be easier to do it before installing the doors
Terryhodes
We don’t plan on using drywall in those areas. Needed to keep them open for spray foam then it will get some tongue and groove scraps. 😁
Officially dried in! 🎉
Very excited! 😊
you should allways glue the cieling boards up. staggure the joints. this prevents nails ? screws from getting torn out from movement above.
Projects look awesome, here we have to use 5/8" fire rated sheet rock to separate garage from living space is that what your using ?
Thank you, John- Yes, that’s what we used. 😊
Your drywall finishers will die when they see the way you hung that drywall
Tyonestucker
Hi, Tyrone- We are the drywall finishers - so it is what it is.
Novice at all this so we will learn some lessons along the way. 😁
Did the garage door installers put that metal brace because of the window panel?
Hi, Michael- Not sure- they just did their thing. 😊
With soooo much drywall to hang....why do you keep renting the drywall lift....You can buy the for $150 and up?????? Was the overhead door finished on the other end of the building????

Why not 4x12
Let's just get the drywall up and get it out of her way don't worry about insulating your place this makes no sense to me what's the weather poor Man's way of doing a job
OMG how can you live wth having the overhead door being WHITE inside LoL
Right?! 😁
Doesn’t go with our color palette at all. 😁
It is less work
