Beautifully filmed video! You were marvelous! Thank you so much for making everything very clear! I will be making my fist quilt and everything before now was very scary. YOU make this project fun, cheerful and I am filled with hope and confidence that I can (with your help, and my beginner sewing books) make my memory quilt a reality! Thank you.
What a lovely comment thanks so much for this. Good luck with your quilt I’m sure it’ll be amazing! This is one of my earlier videos so it’s great to see it is still helpful.
I have been planning to make a memory quilt forever but everytime I thought about sewing all those squares together I would give it up, but the technique you showed with the interfacing makes it much easier. I am finally ready to start my first quilt. Thanks for sharing!
That makes me SO happy! I just love this technique- it’s a game changer for sure and I’m sure it’ll make it easier for you. Please do keep me posted on how you get on! Did you join my Facebook group? Would love you to post in there 🥰
What a brilliant idea. I will certainly use this method. I will curtain interlining that already have wadding attached to the fabric. Thank you for sharing.

Fascinating....I haven’t tried sewing yet, but watching this made me want to go and get a sewing machine! I have loads of baby clothes from my 3 kids I would love to do something with. Might be a bit ambitious for a first project, but you have made it look doable. Thank you...I think you might have inspired a new craft for me!!
Oh my goodness please start sewing!! I would sew (sorry 🤣) love it if you did! This project may be a bit ambitious for a first project due to how long it takes- I would start with the tote bag which you can find here; ruclips.net/video/agHJRn-FdQI/видео.html And lots more beginner tutorials coming soon. Glad you enjoyed the video 🥰
@Studio7t7~ This is an outstanding tutorial and I LOVED your technique overall. I appreciate you including the tips and tricks for how you do your binging too! I am have a bag of full of clothes from both my son and daughter and plan to make a memory quilt with them. Quick question: What are the Pro's & Con's to using a "Non-Woven Interfacing" vs a "Fusible Interfacing"with this quilting technique? I'll be referring back to this video again and again! Thank you ~~Christy~~
Thank you so much! Your comment has made my day 🙌. Non woven is the same as regular fusible interfacing. There’s a lot of differences out there. I would recommend f220 for this- it’s a fab all rounder and will work well with this technique I think. Happy sewing 🙌
Hi, I love this technique! However, I was wondering, would it be possible to just draw the grid straight onto the interfacing to prevent the need to buy the calico? Many thanks
Hello, I am wanting to make a quilt from my baby’s old clothing and loved your tutorial. You made it sound quite easy to do with the hints and tips you have provided. I do have one question though. The pieces of fabric that you precut ready to then bond to the interfacing…were they all made of fabric that already was fairly stiff without any elastase or stretch to them? The reason I ask is that most, if not all, of the fabric I will be using is from babygrows and vests, which all tend to have a bit of stretch to them. If I was to precut them without putting interfacing on them first, won’t they curl at the edges? Or will they be ok? Thanks, Hayley
Hi thanks so much. I just replied to your message on fb but wanted to reply here incase others are wondering too. Yes, cutting from baby grows etc will have curled edges. I would recommend you find the lightest interfacing you can get- (maybe even bondaweb!) just to stop the curling and then continue with the grid technique. Hope that helps, Emma
Thank you... our muslin is very thin... calico is a bit thicker. Honestly you could use anything that isn’t too think! A bed sheet even. Thanks for watching
@@Studio7t7 yes I was thinking a twin sheet would work well. Was thinking maybe jellyroll strips for baby quilt. Then I would make squares 2.5 I think?
Thanks so much MaryBeth! Really appreciate your comment. I used two layers on these as they were commissions and the client wanted a thicker quilt... that does then mean a warmer quilt but totally preference! One layer is really thin so if I was making another I’d prob use two too but most quilters just use one alone. Are you a quilted?

Hi, I have a big roll of interfacing in the garage, can I cut some off and put it in the washing machine first? Thanks

What size would I need for a single bed size made from football shirts please
Hi Marjorie... I’m sorry can you give me more information? Size of the squares or size of the finished quilt/ template. Thanks

Sorry you got tired. No it rarely breaks the needle and is a faster way to sew. It’s also a bit more precise as the pins keep it in place. 🥰
