Stare into Death and be Still is one of the best metal albums ever recorded, I love every single track
Objective truth
Subjectively, it's my single favorite death metal album of all time, and I'm not even a huge dissodeath guy. Ulcerate is literally the only dissodeath band that makes me feel anything

Heard "Redemptor"? They have some songs that have a similiar atmosphere to Ulcerate.
@@weaintfriendsweaintfriends7346 there is definietly always an underlying dissonant tension in every song, even if some of the main riffs are quite melodic.
@@KevinUchihaOG technically yes, but it drifts away from "dissonant death metal" like gorguts or late deathspell omega etc towards more melodic sound. Of course there is still underlying tension, it's extreme metal
I’ve had There is No Horizon in my top 5 songs on Spotify for like the past 3 years or so. That album changed the trajectory of my musical tastes. Can’t wait for the new album

When I first heard it I couldn't grasp it all but after a while I found all those little melody scraps and it finally clicked.
This is one of my top five albums ever.
these melodies sound so alien i love it too. it is not an easy one to love but once you got it you cant let go

@@GlazeonthewickeR Yes they are! The record label Debemur Morti Productions outlined a bunch of upcoming releases for the year on their IG page. The post was on Jan 13 mentions Ulcerate(among other bands) are recording/putting final touches on their albums and will be released this year! Here’s to hoping everything goes smoothly and we get new material in 2024
I keep looking for the fourth and fifth bald guys and can't find them. How are they creating such a wall of sound with three guys??? I have been listening to this band obsessively since SIDABS and can't wrap my head around this only being three guys the entire time. Wtf.
Pretty sure they run a couple backing tracks for layering, as well as looping stuff. JSM has things down to a science back there.

It's not uncommon to use tracks for the other guitar layers. Or other instruments/synths/orchestra in general
As a drummer I personally prefer playing in bands that just have one guitarist. A 4 piece is fine, it's just actually kind of hard to find 2 guitarists on the same page musically from experience.

I didn't know there were only 3 guys as Ulcerate live members. Such chaotic and hipnotizing music masterfully done.
Yeah. I don't know much about live performances (behind the scenes) but they've stayed as a live 3pc for many years now.
Their sound guy is 4th member of the band, but they use loopers and rest of equimpent to the absolute maximum.

Whole record is a masterpiece, crown jewel of their discography.
They said this is the last leg of their touring for this album cycle then they’re heading back home to write the next record. Can’t wait to hear that thing.

Lost the muted alternate picking in Dissolved and Stare, but this is the best sound quality I’ve heard on a live metal video in a while. Of course, I’m listening on my phone, so maybe headphones will reveal more attack during the “chunky” riffs.

20:18 .. favourite Ulcerate passage. Saw them live in 2022 and experiencing Dissolved Orders live was sublime.
One of the greatest metal bands ever and Jamie is probably the most versatile, groovy and dexterous extreme drummer alive.
Shoutout to the A/V team you did a wonderful job.
I love cool bass lines that cut through the mix. And yet I have a ton of respect for the garbled low rumble of Ulcerate's bass, because it feels like it suits this very unique band so well.
Yeah works well used as almost a percussion instrument.
But then harmonizing with the guitar to get those fat wall of sound chords like a 8:39

@@GregsWhiskyGuide moi c'est celui-ci même si je suis tjs incapable d'écouter un de leurs albums dans son entièreté. C'est trop complexe et difficile d'enchaîner tous ces riffs crépusculaires et ces murs de cymbales tentaculaires. Du métal intellectuel assez fascinant mais exigeant.

This Concert slipped into my autoplay and I've been listening to nothing but Ulcerate for the last two weeks. Can't believe I didn't give these guys a shot for over a decade now. Shame on me.
Sidenote: am I alone in considering this to be BM? At least not tech-death, "avant-garde" ok. But dissodeath isn't a genre as far as I'm concerned

I think they only have couple off segments in down tempo.....maybe is the unorthodox chords and dissonance that make the music so damn "slow" ...because jamie's drums are anything but😅

I m big fan of old Ulcerate music - EiF, TDoA, SoP. Absolutely crushing music. But last album is totally boring for me((
Is just a logical Evolution of their already fucking Legendary sound....still damn Incredible....i LOVE how they don't play It safe...as they put It on a 2017 interview...they had explore Everything that works in the absolute caustrophobic dissonant sound...so is logical the melodic but still dismal sound ...listening in that context is Amazing...Exhale the ash and Drawn into the Next void are fucking addictive ...also the melodic monstrosity that is Dissolved orders at 4:40 minutes ...one of the most Beautiful Amazing dissonant mellodic manipulations only comparable to Abscission by DSO..
What a performance! Wish I would have been in attendance. Love this band.
The drummer is a masterclass. The rest are boring yawns that belong with the rest of a tired genre that has lost its inventiveness among the first 3 chords played on a bar stool.
