  • Frances Wright - Feminist. Entrepreneur. Social justice advocate.
Born in South Africa, Frances’ family emigrated to Canada and settled in Calgary when she was six years old. With a varied career in business and communications, Frances co-founded the Famous 5 Foundation in 1996. The F5 Foundation is an organization that profiles five women in Alberta who, in 1929, appealed a Supreme Court of Canada decision to the UK Privy Council to recognize women as persons and therefore eligible to be appointed to the Senate of Canada. The Famous 5 Foundation focuses its events program on today’s nation builders.
The fourth in the series, 1000 Voices, 1000 Stories, The Women’s History Project continues to have conversations with women trailblazers - women who were instrumental in championing gender equality.
