- Bonjour to you all the sunny is shining here in Normandy and life is good here at the farmhouse.
It is lovely to wake up and here the birds chirping and to take a step back and know how lucky we both are to live in such a wonderful place.
Budo is working in the work shop making the base units for our farmhouse kitchen build and they are beautiful how lucky are we to have a bespoke kitchen built by Budo himself.
Tracy starts to prepare and paint the kitchen Cabinets and the door furniture is on the cabinets.

Really good looking kitchen. That little scribe you used when making the tenon was interesting. My father had one among his tools and I never knew what is was for. His family owned a farm in Germany so I guess you learned to do some of everything. He wanted to be a farmer in the midwest of the US, but ended up being a butcher with his own butcher shop and delicatessen in southern NY

I just painted my kitchen and bathroom vanities.. Benjamin Moore.. expensive paint and was not the quality you are using .. 2 coats .. it looks beautiful but it was a lot of work.. glad I did it… your partnership is beautiful

It’s fascinating to watch a master craftsman at work building beautiful cabinet doors. We can tell that this is not your first time building kitchen cabinets 😉 (you’ve got magic hands sir), and I’m not surprised that you have made some for heritage homes. The units are drop dead gorgeous! So well made! And I absolutely love love love the colour you chose. This kitchen is right up my alley 😊. Budo, thank you for answering our question about the sink. They do exist in Canada, but I personally have never had one put in my kitchens. Funny that you were joking about living in France but building an English kitchen. I’m sure lots of French people have English style kitchens installed, as they are timeless and beautiful. I’m really looking forward now to seeing the progress in this space. The process efficiency voice in my head says 'it would be faster to use a router and jigs to do many of the steps!' but the craftsman voice says 'why would you want to? ' It's a joy to watch your carpentry/joinery.

I see your cabinet boxes are made from chip/fibre board. Just wondering, how do you attach solid wood facing frames to fibre board and get it to stay without it pulling out. I want to reface my existing cabinets with wood frames but am afraid they will pull out.
Hi Cdoyle thank you and yes on the face frame fixing ill use a combination of mainly biscuit joinery with some pocket hole joinery to pretty standard stuff really also the melamine faced chip board furniture grade will have all its faces glued using polyurethane glue for max strength hope this helps Budo 🍺😎👍🏻

The cabinets are lovely! I especially like the green color of the paint. It’s calming and restful, but it also has enough pigment to draw the eye. In other words, it’s not a complete neutral. I recently redid my bathroom with all brushed nickel fixtures, and I like it very much.
I was interested to hear the name of that saw that Budo used to make the tenons in the door frames. I’ve seen it in several videos lately, and wondered why I had never seen one before in my entire life. But if it’s Japanese, then that explains it as I have almost no exposure to anything Japanese, and certainly not to their woodworking techniques, lol.
My grandmother had a porcelain/cast-iron farmers sink in her kitchen. It wasn’t as nice as yours or as deep, but it was long and wide, and I always loved how easily pots and pans fit in it & made it easier to wash awkwardly large things.
I’m looking forward to seeing the slate roof tiles go on, it’s one of my favorite things on these French renovation channels. Oh, and thanks for the glimpse of the bees. They’re what made me subscribe to your channel in the first place.😊 Ttfn.
