      3 or 4 inch?

    • @testing2741
      @testing2741 Месяц назад +5

@@JapaPewi have both, and both are ported Performance Center ones. With the stock springs the 3 inch ported had much less felt recoil than the 4 inch. The 4" comes with just a single coil spring (the 3 inch hss dual progressive springs like most compacts - and the DPM triple progressive springs are even better if you add those), I blame the 4" sharper recoil impulse on its lower tech springs. But if you put a DPM systems triple progressive spring sustem in the ported 4", it can be just as buttery smooth as the 3". But I can't conceal it as comfortably, so I don't have much use for the 4" to be honest - with the 15rd mags the 4" is a decent home/duty choice; but if you are going for that there are better choices. The 3 inch with 13rd magguts magic that gives you a firm pinky lock, better than thr or 13 rounders, and with much less size increase than the OEM 13rd mags, and with the tuned DPM systems springs, my 3" Shield Plus Performance Center shoots softer than almost any of my full size (non ported/braked) 9mm. Hegshot87 is right about this, and I think my tweaks make it even more perfect 😊

I did the same upgrade with my Shield Plus. It's a great gun as is, but Magguts makes it hard to compete with. Carrying 13+1 in a gun that size makes my 15rd compact pistol much less needed IMO. If I decide on upgrading my stock 13rd mag with Magguts to 15rds, I might just retire the compact altogether.

I have 4 guns (out of my MANY EDC's) that i always come back to. My Mount Rushnore, if you will. If anyone cares, I have ranked them in order of how often that I carry them and what i currently carry them in/with:
S&W Shield Plus with crimson trace red dot and Crossbreed Mini-tuck (that i optics cut myself with a dremmel tool)
CZ Shadow 2 Compact in a Muddy River Tactical Holster that allows me to keep my Streamlight TLR-7A and my Cyelee Wolf 2 Optic on it. EXCELLENT affordable optic, imo, specially made for ppl like me with an astigmatism. (This gun is gaining hard on the Shield Plus for me in terms of frequency of carry. I absolutely adore everything about it)
S&W M&P 2.0 Compact with the 3.6" barrel and a Muddy River Tactical holster that allows me to keep my Crimson Trace red dot & My O-Light Baldr Mini right on it. Awesome pistol. Awesome holster.
Last, but not least, my Springfield Hellcat Pro with Hogue Gripall and in a Crossbreed Super-Tuck.
I carry and train religiously with all 4 of these with Tulster mag carriers on my left hip. I carrry my Muddy River Tactical light bearing holster, and my Crossbreed Mini & Super Tucks strongside. Never been a big appendix carry guy, personally.

How on earth do you do an optics-cut with a rotary tool? -much props man. Also I highly, highly, recommend three things that will make your shield amazing:
      1. The ported Performance center version dual-ported version has at least 15-20% less recoil with minimal debris when hold banana above it as a test compared to single ports.
      2. Add a DPM systems recoil system to it, and decreased my rapid fire group sizes by 30% to 50% - with the ports the DPM system makes rapid fire amazing.
      3. By the MagGuts +3 extension for the OEM 10rd and you smaller, more reliable, easier to load, and far better grip than you do with the OEM mags. Thay have the protruding lip lime on a piece grip extension that locks your hand in place. And they are more reliable woth their patented collapsing metal follower.
These three things absolutely 💯 me the Shield top.of the class for a micro 9 - comparable to things that cost easily 3 to 4 times as much and bulkier and larger.

I am am an acquaintance of @testing2741 and we both carry the Shield Plus Performance Center (ported) 3.1" with great improvements listed below. I however have a guard-mounted light and tritium night-sights. While testing2741 has a grip-enabled lasersight and the PC-included fiberoptic sights. But we both now have the DPM system springs upon his feedback. We both thought that it probably was completely unnecessary on the shield . But amazingly it made our rapid fire groupings so much tighter that I couldn't believe it at first. With porting the DPM system works miracles.
Also we both use the magguts +3 ki that gives you an identical profile as a Pierce grip which locks your hand in place with the protruding pinky lip, and that gives you + 3 capacity making it compact with the capacity of the awkward and hard to load OEM 13 Rd mags.
Just my 2c. if you have the PC ported version (which is worth it totally), or any ported EDC, the DPM system absolutely makes rapid fire very viable.

      9mm NATO = 7.2
      .45 ACP = 12.6
      For reference,
      10mm is around 13

      .30-30 is less than 15
7.62 NATO is less than 18
      .30-06 is around 22
      .45-70 Gov is FIFTY FOUR

You look up police officer Timothy Gramins, who hit a madman 14 times with his .45 before that threat stopped. Gramins switched to carrying 145 rounds of 9mm on duty. A handgun simply does not have the stopping power people think it has against determined or strung out human beings. As with all things in life, there are no perfect solutions, only tradeoffs. Carry what you want to carry, no one is going to argue that .45 is a poor choice. But the real-world differences between it and 9mm are imaginary.

I’ve carried a Shield, Shield 2.0, EZ, and Plus for over a decade. I currently carry a S&W M&P 2.0 Compact 9mm 4” barrel. I had it for awhile before but one day after a trip to the range a year or two ago I realized I shot more consistently accurate with the slightly bigger gun.
I too, have multiple Glocks, CZs, etc. Glocks don’t fit me and my body. Their shape just seems to print more, again with me. The Compact and the G19 are essentially the same size but the M&P has more curves and looks more natural and prints less. Both and quite honestly ALL my firearms never had any malfunctions. Keep ‘em clean, maintained, and stored properly in a temperature controlled safe/room.
I think I may get the Equalizer. I never really saw a need for it, and I don’t mind grip safeties since I do like 1911’s. But I like that it’s essentially a longer slide plus that’s red dot ready. I’d get the NTS version, since the grip safety is more than enough. But having that grip still gives me a little piece of mind with two small children. Their still small enough to carry and climb and pull on me. So some type of safety is nice at the moment.
But I still come down to the fact their isn’t much difference in thickness between the Equalizer and Compact to justify the purchase. I can still just barely with a good holster and belt conceal the Compact in a regular sized dark colored tshirt.
…really long comment, surprisingly I’m not on the 🚽 😂

I was carrying p365 standard. Switch back to XL frame. I did for two simple reason. 1. There was a gas station robbery near me where I often pass, one you wouldn't expect to get robbed. 2. The 10 round mags (even with magguts), you have to acquire the perfect grip every time for the best draw. XL frame gives more leeway. The difference is less than half of a inch. Imo, p365's are a step above S&W Shield Plus.

Within these options there were hella out of batteries, stovepipes, failure to fire, failure to feed, plastic guide rods and striker guide sleeves, mushy pinch your finger triggers, light primer strikes etc. When you buy a NEW FIREARM you shouldn’t have to “upgrade” or swap out all the oem factory parts with Galloway Precision, APEX, Stormwerkz, LAKELINE Industries, or MCARBO parts to get your firearms to operate PROPERLY. You shouldn’t have to swap out new Micro Dagger internals with Glock 43x internals to get it to work right😂😂😂😂 If you’re doing all that then why not buy a Glock 43x then🤔. It’s laughable how folks do all these upgrades sometimes utilizing a gunsmith and it’s overall the SAME PRICE OF THE FIREARM that was purchased 🤣🤣🤣 Then they stick their chests out and brag how “NOW IT WORKS GREAT!” 🤪🤪🤪🤪Out of all my research I chose the SHIELD PLUS with Red Dot Included and am elated with my choice. But I did switch to the P365 about 3 years ago and have put thousands of rounds thru it without any problems. But the thing I like the most is that it has a thumb safety that is really easy to switch off when you grip the gun. I carry appendix style with an IWB holster and it's a perfect setup. I also really like the night sights that come on it and the 12 round magazine. It's very easy to conceal. Also, it doesn't weigh very much. For me, it's a better fit.

I run a Faxon threaded barrel 3.6 inches long, XS sights, DPM Systems guide rod, Overwatch Precision trigger, Ed Brown machined steel striker, Hogue grip, and MagGuts for 14 rounds or Equalizer 15 round mags - it’s perfection! I’ve wasted a lot of money buying other expensive guns and the Shield Plus still wins

My wife and I both used to pack OG Shield 1.0s. Shield Plus is an outright upgrade in all essential ways, predominantly capactiy. Needless to say, we have both upgraded and still carry them today, in JUN2024.
It is no longer the only gun I carry, as I have moved into open carry as afforded by my state, but the Shield Plus is still my boot gun backup.

I like the Shield Plus, but I went with the Equalizer instead. It had all the features I wanted, plus the EZ slide so my wife can run it. She has the 380 EZ, but doesn't train a lot, so the Equalizer is an easy transition for her.
Also, compared to my G43x, in the same brand holster, the Equalizer is more comfortable to carry. Go figure.

Where's the love for the excellent Walther PPS M2? I don't care for the standard magazine, but with the extended magazine it fits my hand perfectly and is easier to shoot. Single stack, but it makes the gun thinner and more concealable, and if you need more than 8 rounds you probably walked into a Taliban hideout. No pic rail or red dot either, but less garbage on your gun makes it easier to draw. The trigger is good enough, you're not using these in competition. An excellent carry gun, very concealable, not too snappy like some of these micro compact guns.

Shield is my EDC, it even drove me to start making content, from the process of making it my own, and training with it, I fell in love, ive shot the 43x, the micro dagger, the ruger ec9 lc9, security, american, ive shot all the other glocks, and the way a Shield Performance Center feels being fired, FOR ME, is not comparative to another. perhaps the closest thing ive shot is a shadow systems cr920 war poet edition, but the price is double the shield

Excellent handgun, but is it really better than the G26 that was introduced in 1995? You have far more trigger options including the heavier NY 1 trigger spring. It also accepts the LTT Striker Control Device and Glock 15, 17, 24 and 33 round mags. It will also accept a G19 barrel for better ballistics and the G19 slide if you want a longer sight radius. A bit heavier so less snappy and faster to shoot accurately.

M&P40 Shield 2.0 4” with a 4.25” extended and ported 357 Sig conversion barrel for me. 8+1 rounds of full power 357 Sig out of this ultra concealed carry is unmatched. I have a 3.1” M&P40 Shield also setup the same but find the 4” so thin that the extra inch of barrel length makes no difference in comfortable carry.

I've found I'm so fickle regarding Conceal Carry Equipment. Have the Magguts kit for my Shield Plus that converted it from 10 to 13 rounds. Never had an issue with it. Has worked beautifully. Now I'm questioning whether I did the right thing or not. I have medium-sized hands. The flat 10 was not enough to get a full purchase. The Magguts is.

The same. My current primary EDC is the SW Shield Plus Performance Center, 9mm Ported 4.0". I occasionally alternate that with the Shield .380 EZ Performance Center 4" Chrome/Ported. Once in a while, I carry my Browning 1911 .380 or my Girsan 1911 SC 9mm. I carried the smaller 3.1" barrel SW Shield Plus briefly -- but I'm a terrible shot with anything smaller than a 3.5-inch barrel. I carried the 43X five years ago and did not care for it after 6 months. Switched to the G19 and found it no better. Then I switched to the SW. I've also carried the Sig XMacro, the Sig365 micro, the Sig365 SAS, or a the Springfield Armory SA 35 PI. When traveling out of state (Tennessee), I carried a Stoeger, either the SubCompact or the 4.17" barrel models, or a Bersa Thunder .380.
