Law is supposed encourage or discourage certain actions by every individual or certain nation. That's what it's for. The fact that you don't understand what law is for and how it works doesn't mean it doesn't work. There are always some repercussions for breaking a law, either moral and ethical or those stated by the law or both.

I'm not trying to be offensive when I point this out, but statistically speaking, many of the guns used in crime in the Democratic cities like New York, Chicago or Detroit are, for the most part, brought over from neighboring states that have less restrictions. When people talk about Chicago as an example of gun control not working, they often fail to mention that while the city itself as strict gun laws, the state of Illinois itself has relatively lax gun laws. Just adding that.

The reporter in the middle is pretty much smiling the entirety of Ben's speaking. I'm assuming because Ben is using logic and facts to back up his statements, something of which most people speaking about gun control fail to do.
One thing great about Ben, he hears the question (and often it's a loaded question meant to get him to agree) but he responds wisely with reason and perspective. For me I'd have to pause and digest the question for a few seconds but he just nails it promptly without hesitation. Much to be admired about that.

There are no facts to counter. He immediately goes to "they want to take away our guns" which is just wrong. He says there is no history of mental illness. Responsible gun owners feed their gun 3 times a day and always use a leash when they take it outside. My gun has never shot anyone because of this careful care.

I don't always agree with Shapiro on his conservative views/opinions but I appreciate his logic and circling both sides of the argument. I also like that he acknowledges that while bump stocks should be illegal, making them illegal doesn't necessarily stop them from being made/used.
I once had a strong opposition about owning guns in the US, put these past few years I am beginning to understand what Ben's point is. Criminals do not want to get hurt themselves. They don't go to neighborhoods where they know there are a lot of guns. Any criminal will tell you that they actively seek targets who are not equipped to defend themselves. A lone criminal will pass you by if your carry yourself with confidence and a "kick butt" attitude. Like I said, a criminal doesn't deliberately put themselves at risk of being hurt or killed. Now, a group of criminals is a different story, especially if you are 1 and they are more than one.

I'm not trying to be offensive when I point this out, but statistically speaking, many of the guns used in crime in the Democratic cities like New York, Chicago or Detroit are, for the most part, brought over from neighboring states that have less restrictions. When people talk about Chicago as an example of gun control not working, they often fail to mention that while the city itself as strict gun laws, the state of Illinois itself has relatively lax gun laws. Just adding that.

You shouldn't make general assumptions if you don't have facts. Secondly per capita yes Detroit is on the list of high crime city's, but definitely not one of the only 3 that have been mentioned in this conversation , actually speaking there are 13 city's in California that would also be considered high crime per capita standards, and doesn't California also have some of this country toughest gun laws. 3rdly according b4 recent election results Michigan was a democratic state but since then was won by Republicans how I don't know, but that here nor there.honestly I know of more pro gun Dems then Republicans that love there weapons . It's not a republican/democratic issue or failure off policies it's actually more of a problem that this country has a failing judicial system, with not a harsh enough penalty for gun crimes! One thing great about Ben, he hears the question (and often it's a loaded question meant to get him to agree) but he responds wisely with reason and perspective. For me I'd have to pause and digest the question for a few seconds but he just nails it promptly without hesitation. Much to be admired about that.
That's not very surprising considering the fact that he's basically committed his life to debating, and arguing with people. Background checks need to be expanded; people need access to mental healthcare so we can know who is and isn't mentally stable.

Someone I grew up with committed an armed robbery in a leftist area with strict local gun control, he was caught and went to prison, but when I asked why chose that place to rob, he said he "chose the place because he knew nobody there would be armed but him, which also let him flee from the scene. I don't always agree with Shapiro on his conservative views/opinions but I appreciate his logic and circling both sides of the argument. I also like that he acknowledges that while bump stocks should be illegal, making them illegal doesn't necessarily stop them from being made/used.

I once had a strong opposition about owning guns in the US, put these past few years I am beginning to understand what Ben's point is. Criminals do not want to get hurt themselves. They don't go to neighborhoods where they know there are a lot of guns. Any criminal will tell you that they actively seek targets who are not equipped to defend themselves. A lone criminal will pass you by if your carry yourself with confidence and a "kick butt" attitude. Like I said, a criminal doesn't deliberately put themselves at risk of being hurt or killed. Now, a group of criminals is a different story, especially if you are 1 and they are more than one.
What about all the laws that limit or intimidate the use of firearms to protect oneself? Criminals can sue their victims, etc.

Im a young moderately liberal southern woman. But the 2nd amendment is so important to me, I would lay down my life for it's protection without even thinking twice. The 2A is the citizen's only protection against our government overlords.

Ben Shapiro- I agree 100% ! It is not the firearm that picks itself up and begins to open fire, it is individual. Many in our society blame the gun manufacturers, because that is easier than blaming the offender. Those citizens who do carry, and follow procedures, and firearm guidelines, should not suffer consequences as a result of the criminal behavior of others.
