I guess he might have missed the point there. "God is anything but your imagination". which means the creator of your mind and imagination cannot be confined within the limitations of such mind when it was the god himself who created it. god must be way greater than that so he can't be imagined or envisioned in anyway, not with such mortal eyes and mind. That's why idols in Islam are forbidden because they are created by hands.
For me it is simple, even the space, the creation of Allah also we cant imagine how big it is, how can we imagine the creator of it .... Allahuakbar Allah is the greatest
The Creator of everything - objects, particles, light, sounds, absolutely anything you can image - is not in need of anything. The Great Throne itself is a creation and is under the Dominion of the Creator of everything. The Creator of everything is not some being that has a volume, size, location, direction, etc. Whatever one imagines in one's mind, one needs to remember that it is a creation.
