Just washed my starter locs. Had them in for about a week I’m very active so I sweat so I couldn’t wait 2 or 3 weeks😂😂made sure the durag was nice and tight kept it on till they dried and now they feel good. Water does help the hair loc up depending on your texture.
I use a no-rinse shampoo mixed with peppermint oil and cotton pad. I pour the mixture onto the cotton pad and press in between the parts. Saved my life 😥!
Am on my second week, and the itch is ridiculous. I neeeeeds to get the wash. THANK YOU !!!! For going straight to the point. I have washed (skipped) threw 4 other videos, because the caption is "how to wash your starter locs" but 4-5 minutes in and still haven't explain how to wash. And am just sitting here in my shower waiting and waiting and waiting. Like really, come on ! Again, thank you !! Great advice, am off to wash Neeooww !
Thanks for the durag tip! I’m 9 days in and itchy as heck. I knew about the fish net tip, but don’t have any but my son has a durag that I’m about to borrow and fix this lil situation here. 😂
My husband is losing his mind wanting to scratch his scalp. He’s 3 weeks into his beginner locs. I totally forgot about the t tree oil and witch hazel. Thanks brotha.
Thank you for sharing what you know. ❤ Dang!!! I just started my two strand twist locs from a TWA a week ago. I am use to washing my hair almost everyday!
You got this! ❤️ Folks stress about the unraveling but it’s all part of the process. Obviously you don’t wanna wash the twists out but some gentle cleaning isn’t going to destroy your journey! 😁
Scrolled thru mad videos about how to wash dreads and everytime, these women are only 2 months in and they are spraying they're domes with the shower head like a reg. Wash. So thankyou for this
Concise, to the point and informative. And you background music was just that... in the background. 👍 What products do I use after washing starter locs? THANKS!
After washing starter Locs I’d use a product like tea tree and peppermint oils for the scalp! Maybe light jojoba oil spray for the hair but my focus for starter Locs would be the scalp. Don’t want too much product on new Locs!
Bruh I unraveled my twists lol 😭 I waited to long to wash and had Frosted Flakes in my joint man 🤧 wish I came across the video cause a Durag wash would of be the optimal route
I'll try these next time I get my hair twisted, I washed my starter locks out about a week ago because I want to use a different method (first method was two strand twist) but I think I'll wait until I can get my hair shaped up
If you have any questions feel free to inbox me here or follow my IG @Hightop_Locks and DM there. Also if you enjoyed the videos please like share and subscribe!
Bro, I'm on DAY FOUR and it's getting ridiculous 😂. I did the comb twist since my hair is shorter (maybe 4 or 5 inches on top). Last week I tried the comb twist/coils and went through the same problem also at 4 days. Washed it the same as you did but the twists were looking crazy and all sticking straight up so I took em out. I'm at the same point again and I wanna wash it but I still want them to "lay down" like they are right now. I feel like it's the gel or beeswax they used that's causing the problem.
Honestly bro mine stuck up afterwards too! That puffy sticking up look happens when they’re too short to lay down on their own. Shorter Locs have it the hardest. Usually I had to Retwist every two weeks just to wash and keep it laid down. I don’t recommend that though lol
@@TPlocks Makes sense. Do you retwist it yourself or do you go to a "loctician". I'm just going to try and tough this out for 3 weeks before I get a wash and retwist.
I would only condition with my Loctician right before a retwist. This washing method is mainly to ensure your hair is getting cleaned in between the retwist period usually at that 2nd week mark.
@@TPlocks how often should i get them retwisted at the 2in 3 week phase 🤔 plus my lower back came all the way loose due to it being a total different texture than rest of my hair?
Que Levert I still retwist once a month in that phase. Usually I have to retwist the loose areas a lil more frequently but my routine was pretty close to the same.
Hey TP I’ve had my new set in for only a week but this is my second set. I have 33 started with 2 strand twist for thick locs and was wondering if I wash with a cap or du rag but don’t retwist will it be ok? What if you're just at the very beginning of your dread locs journey by using the magic sponge. Knowing the locs aren't falling yet, how do I keep it wash it without it untangling the locs/twists?
It definitely minimizes the Locs that unravel. It’s never easy to tell how every experience will turn out but I can definitely say this method works for me and several others!

I'm on my second week I washed them with the Rag on but some of my locs unraveled at the tip and the shorter ones came unraveled completely I looked like Medusa with snakes all in my head so should I go back and start over or just wear a silk skull cap over them until it's time for the retwist mine is the braided twist method
You Legend shampoo bars have tea tree oil, castor oil, rosemary, hemp oil... so much more good stuff to help your locs staying healthy and not loosening. Just use the lather you make in your hands and not on your actual head. its organic, vegan ayurvedic all the good stuff

Ok I'm about 3 weeks into my locs (stylist washed and retwisted them last week (oct 16, 2022). Can someone explain the washing with a durag method a little further in detail because I'm a little slow?
Im about less than a month in and I’ve using a cloth scarf. Can someone explain why the satin is better? I’m sure it’s in one of his videos I just haven’t gotten there yet😭😭
Satin is considered better because it’s typically less porous and much more effective at retaining moisture. Cloth acts a lot like a paper towel would. It soaks up a lot of the moisture that you’d typically want to stay in your locs! If you wanted to clean up a wet spill, you’d want the cloth material because it’d be much better at absorbing the liquid (moisture) from the spill! Hope this helps! 😁
