Shortages just means that prices have not stabilized yet. When governments do not allow or frown on price changes you have shortages. Government doubled the money supply so most products will double before shortages end. If the government spends double again before prices stabilize then shortages will continue until again prices match up with the real world.

The US benefits by splitting the world into two spheres, one the US can dominate and another they would have faced increasing pressure from. Everyone loses in the nearterm, but the US loses the least nearterm and benefits the most in the long-term by avoiding a total currency collapse and a civilization ending global kinetic war. War in it various forms will increase, including domestic upheavals, but kinetic wars will be supplanted by increasing financial, digital, and biological/chemical wars. Splitting the world into two internets is a sign of how extreme the split will be.
In just two weeks since this interview, the ruble is back to just being down 10% and Russia will accept only rubles from non-friends. Bitcoin also accepted from friends.
Lyn is the only analyst I heard up until recently being bullish on Russia as a region to diversify their investments into. You didn't ask what her position is on that now and if anyone followed that guidance they would probably be very unsatisfied right now.
