    i really had troubles incorporating delay into my music. and i thought that people were just acting up claiming that they preffered delay over reverb. but it's very good. and it unveils creativity. thank you very much for the love lately.

    This works for so much more than just delay. It's great for verb, or any other atmospheric effect. Old school reggae dubs were where this exact delay technique first became super common I think, but they had to do it with tape delays and analog mixers. So freaking cool. Thank you for sharing.
    Parallel processing is a great way to get a super clean mix.
    I definitely know what I'm talking about, I created the most compressed version of the Portal 2 Radio on all of RUclips.

  • @TheseAreMyFinalHours

    Fun little trick I picked up for vocals a long while back. Record your vocals, reverse it, add delay and reverb to the end (original beginning), export and reverse it so it is back to normal. This gives a somewhat haunting lead up to your vocal. (There is probably an easier way of doing this nowadays but still thought I'd share )

  • @WeyounSix

  • @robertjag167
    @robertjag167 5 месяцев назад

    I did it this way for YEARS but do this instead. Sidechain the vocal to the delay, but put a peak controller that's set to inverted on it so that the delay
    only gets room when the vocal isn't playing. That way your vocal is always "clean" and the delay will only occur when there is no audio coming through.
    The delay will always be on point without adjustments. Hope it makes sense! ❤

  • @ryan_raus

    I love doing this, and adding other things like pitch and formant like he mentioned, and automating those too. Also automating pan back and forth on the delay can be fun. Can get some fun creative delays.

  • @OneTeenDiscipleship
    @OneTeenDiscipleship День назад

    One of my favorite hacks is instead of automation, putting a sidechain compressor on the FX track so that the delay only plays after the vocals.

    I once had a client who only wanted delay on the sibilance of his vocals, so automating the send in detail was vital. I wouldn't call effect send automation a "delay trick" necessarily but this comment section seems to adore you, I don't want to be a hater and this format is vastly more helpful than a long-winded tutorial that takes too long to get to the point and glosses over the very details the viewer is most interested in, so I'll say that I agree, automating the send can be cleaner than giving the affected signals their own tracks with their own effects. Cheers!

    And Fruity Delay has that wonderfully automatable "input" control so a lot of the time you can still do this with just one channel :)

    If you modulate the output knob that goes from the delay channel to the master instead of the input knob like he did in the video. Then you can even keep the vocal clean and play the delay of it after. With his method you have to send a part of the vocal into the delay an then that part will be delayed. In this case the vocal gets delayed and you just make it audible. Both of those delay throws a usefull.
