A BIT OF HISTORY ! ! ! ! The song, "Calling Jesus, My Rock" was a big hit for The Willie Webb Singers in the 1950's. It was written by the late Mrs. Sylvia Boddie: the wife of the then pastor of Greater Harvest Baptist Church: the late Rev. Louis Boddie. Rich gospel heritage at Greater Harvest Baptist Church.
+Ron Greer JBBA Thanks so much for the historical background to this joyous praise anthem! So beautiful to see all the choir and congregation just going for broke praising our GREAT GOD IN ZION! Truly, "God does inhabit the praises of Israel" (Psalm 22:3) And those TAMBOURINES IN THE CHOIR....really enhance the praise! :-)
I love to hear them sing this song! "Jesus My Rock!" When Mother leaned back you knew it was going to be a wrap she killed this song!!! 0:34 Oh Bless Him!!!
i know thats right,,i could flip upside down and do a holy dance on my hands...praise be to God for this Mother.....Her and Mother Mosie Burks sho'nuff be giving God his first fruits...
I love this song. This remind me when the Gospel Chorus of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Brooklyn, NY with Sister Mary Ross. Every time the choir had sang "Call Jesus My Rock ", they always sang til the power of the Holy Ghost came down.
