Thank you for diving into things like these. So many Elvis fans want to ignore some of these “low lights”
Certainly I understand viewing him in a rose colored lens.
However, I think these are the moments that are really interesting.
Elvis is ultimately the story of a tragedy, a man so talented, charismatic and one of the most famous men to ever live.
Yet, having it all didn’t do it for him in the end.
He was lonely, depressed and hopeless.
In my recent visit to Graceland, I really saw his career in a different light.
I was more sad for him than I have ever been.
He was really exited and hungry 55-58, then he goes to Germany, which was ridiculous for him to go waste his time here there for nothing.
He gets back, his mother is gone. He has some initial excitement for a movie career. This would not last long, he would get bored with the silly roles.
He reinvents or reaffirms himself in 68 as the king and he is back on top.
69-72 seemed like pretty exciting year for him, even though there were issues at home.
He had a big buildup to Aloha, then just as big of a crash after, the reality of his failed marriage, his hurt ego with Mike Stone.
Then the last 4 years didn’t challenge him much in his career.
He did the same venues, over and over

Well said couldn’t said better myself. Remember the frustration of not getting good songs to record because of Diskin & The Colonel horrible royalty arrangements. So many writers like Jackson Browne, JD Souther , John Hiatt were young guys who would have killed to have Elvis record their stuff !
@@ElvisistheMan_I love that you show the negative aspects of Elvis too, he was/is the G.O.A.T but he was human. 76 was a really bad year, but that last week in December 76 he looks like he lost 30lbs, looked great and was moving on stage again. Then 2 months later in Feb 77 back on tour, he looked like he gained the weight back plus some. But that last week in December was something to remember. Thanks for posting the good and bad

Elvis needed to take a year out and rest up, unfortunately those around him didn`t do enough and were possibly blinded by the money.

It was Prissy pants who helped destroy him. She was suing him AGAIN after a very generous settlement. One major reason why he was going back on the road. Also Elvis spent hours sometimes on a daily basis to sign autographs, never dismissing anyone at any time. But Ole Prissy Pants charges for her picture & autograph with her son also in the picture! Who wants her autograph for? Who is her son in relation to Elvis? She was not the talent & never even visited Elvis in the hospital or did a damn thing about the drugs or his health in general. Pictures scattered all over the tabloids of her various lovers after the Stone affair. Prissy sure shoved the knife in his back. IMHO.
In that last concert footage, look back at all the ticket entry points and all the concession stands, everything from popcorn, cotton, candy to Elvis buckles, Elvis pins, Elvis T-shirts to Elvis posters. I remember not long after his death going to see the Barnum & Bailey circus in the Atlanta Colosseum, even though it was a circus with elephants, tigers and circus clowns, the whole production was the same, same exact environment however, in Elvis’s situation, there were all the same concessions and big money to be made. All those people circled around making money dependent on a “ONE MAN PRODUCTION…” Now imagine if you were Elvis just for a few a few brief seconds, how do just tell everyone including all the folks CBS & MBC to go F••••Off And never mind all the big money they offered for the contract to film the show, which you’re going to need to pay all of those people going down the road setting up sound systems While another crew races to the next town states away to go set up the same sound production; no, you couldn’t. It takes that many people to make the whole thing go round. I certainly don’t blame the guys who were closest to Elvis, who were doing everything within their desperate power to keep him calm, lessen his anxiety keep him distracted and calm as they could possibly get him during his constant pre-show stage fright before every show. If I blame anybody who was not taking care of Elvis when they surely knew he was in really bad health that could have intervened and told all the corporations you’ve got the contract, but we’re going to have to shoot our date back for now Elvis gets to feeling better due to medical situation that Elvis is severely going through right now, but those words did come from Colonel Elvis manager, who should have done that after he looked and every night and saw his bloated body and knew something about his medical health situation. I blame and not just because of the Elvis 2022 movie. If anyone could’ve intervened and should’ve done so in a professional effective manner, it would’ve been Tom Parker, but he was a little too concerned with making money off his boy and not concerned near enough about losing the whole cash cow. Damn him!
Elvis was definately in a bad condition.

I know, its hard to watch. That beautiful man was striuggling to keep up with the legand. He even said it was hard to keep an image. All the MM said that the only time Elvis was happy in the end was onstage in front of his fans who he really cared for like no other star before or since.
He needed a good rest at a sanitarium for general health. Too early for Betty Ford but they had places to rest and he needed it so bad.

Repeatedly stated that the only time he was happy in the end was on stage in front of his loving fans. Elvis gave more then he ever took but the EX_WIFE takes more then she gives. Elvis paid her handsomely to move along & not to use or ever profit off of the Presley name.
He had to keep Uncle Tom and that entourage going.
@@weskitten You dont know what you are talking about. Parker went to Vernon and recommended Elvis take a year off to detox and get healthy. It was Vernon who shot down that idea.
Everyone needs to read the new Elvis book called "Destined to Die Young." She researched Elvis' family tree and found out of 12 of the body systems, Elvis had disease in 9 of them. He was sicker than most people realized. Among many other things, he had the same inherited liver disease that his mother had. I can't stand it when I hear someone say he "let himself go" or he was a "drug addict"! It just shows how ignorant people can be. He was a very sick man who depended and trusted those around him to help him and they all let him down!
The pills didn’t help but I doubt that’s what killed him like people including the page owner likes to spew constantly. He had genetic abnormalities. Some of the guys on his crew were twice the size of Elvis, did the same amount of pills as they have confessed but yet they lived to ripe old ages. If you do any research about guys in the industry who did and do hard drugs constantly and yet they are still alive and aged to talk about it, like the Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. The way people tell it you eat a little too much and take pills you’re going to die at 40. Please. It’s click bate.
@sandyboswell3213 The drugs are what caused most of his problems!! The woman who wrote that book did not have secret inside information. His father sealed most of the coroners report from the public. He had health problems and his drug use made them a zillion times worse. Don't trust a darn book!
He was not helping himself either should have gone to legit doctors and got himself checked out and stayed on a routine. But no he decided to over self medicate he did it to him self.

Listen, you do a fantastic job promoting Elvis with the many insights and focal points, the highs and not so highs when they happened. We're all adults here (well hopefully lots of young kids see the channel too but I'm sure they'd possibly be more accepting of Elvis, the flawed human being than some adults would). Let's not ignore Elvis the ordinary man, it probably allows us to appreciate his extraordinary talent even more. Sincere best wishes from a UK fan since '75/'76.

To me Elvis was precious. Some seem to think he wasn't human but he was and Lord knows he wasn't perfect . From his beginning until his ending Elvis was close enough to perfect for me. Thank you David TCB⚡️

You know this does sound like a cliché, I started feeling he wouldn’t be with us much longer beginning in ‘75. Being an admirer (huge fan 😅) beginning in the’60’s I really saw the changes ie; good, great, unbelievable and of course some not too good. He was absolutely brilliant, as we know he had issues like we all do..and I remember feeling afraid because he was so young, his talent thru the stratosphere with a beautiful young daughter..idk, I’ve always thought he was TIRED and disillusioned and maybe he felt he was in too deep and couldn’t get out??!! We’ll never know for sure..maybe we aren’t supposed to know 😢
This is really ,really heartbreaking so unbelievably sad to watch him descend.
I think we esteem celebrities too high and idolise then when they are fallible human beings too .

This is so sad. When he started to deteriorate, it seemed to happen really quickly.
It's a shame that a lot of people only think of Elvis ♥ as he was at the end of his life, especially people who are not fans.
Us fans, know this is totally wrong and it was only a short period of time Elvis ♥ was like this.
I think as fans, we need to see every part of Elvis's ❤ life, the good, the bad and the ugly literally.

I’ve noticed that when Elvis would sing his hits from the 50’s he’d sing it really fast. Would you know why is that so? It’s like he was rushing it just to get it over and done with.
To me, elvis was like a close relative who you love no matter what. Thst he looked so bad st the end endeared him to me, but then i am elvis's generation, so have loved him forever❤
Informative vid and topic on one of my favorite artists, Elvis Presley. I am the type of fan that accepts all aspects of Elvis’s career including the not so high points, no pun intended. I accept Elvis as a human being with one of the great voices and talented individuals he was and don’t deny he had issues with over medicating. RIP Elvis.

Elvis was ill, and he was exhausted. No one can be at their best when they are like that. I wish he had taken a long rest for a couple of years and got back into shape. Sorted his life out and ditched Tom Parker and some of his hangers on. I think he would still be alive today if he had done that. But he did what he did, and we should be grateful for his incredible legacy
He definitely needed to get rid of Parker and I wish you would’ve been 1973 when he actually did fire him

Yes true and he had an enlarged heart, glaucoma, twisted colon, gruelling touring schedule. Poor man was wonderfully gifted. I love him. His body was wrecked by then and wracked with pain .
Thank you very much for sharing this! I don’t find it disrespectful to EP, and I think most of his fans adore him regardless of his weaker moments. So many musical greats have struggled with addiction and went through the same thing: cancelled shows, unhappy crowds, frustrated recording executives, and people who wanted to help but couldn’t. Keith Whitley and Hank Williams come to mind. We still love them and see them as legends. May they all rest in peace. 🙏🏻❤️

As much as I “love and always had love” Elvis… In the end he’s flesh and bone… A human being like you and me (but with a tremendous talent). The least I can say “it’s very disappointing”.
I still remember when I accidentally tuned the 1977 CBS Special… Man! I just couldn’t believe my eyes!!! So so sad!!
I’m sad for him that he’s decided (or has been encouraged) to perform in these conditions. For all the good he did… we all have to forgive him… He still the best forever.

Mike Stone gave a interview. Listen to how she manipulated herself into his life and the nerve to want to meet Stones wife & children before she ruined that marriage. Mike told how Prissy is vain & demanding of attention first above others. Nothing like dear Elvis.
I find it in a way strange that people mention Elvis over weight. By today's standard he wasn't even obese. Nobody talks about that Luciano Pavarotti was being obese. It appears to be a feature with him. Generally I think these kind of recording are only interesting for hard core Elvis fans (such as I 😁) who try to understand what happened with Elvis in his later years and what lead his fate.
I think part of the reason people focus on it is that Elvis was so beautiful when he was young. As far as I know, Pavarotti never had any sex appeal. I still don't like that they do that to Elvis, just trying to offer a reason they might.
I saw Elvis on this 1976 tour in Lakeland, FL. I think it was September. I remember the show was completely lackluster. The highlights were the anticipation that came with the opening vamp and when Al Dvorin announced “Elvis has left the building”. I didn’t feel disappointment, I still felt respect for his legacy and him as an entertainer. He was a human soul with human problems. Thank you for exploring all the aspects of the Elvis phenomenon.
I am always amazed at how he could even function if he was on all that medication! I mean to remember the words to all those songs (yes he stumbled a little over the words at times) but to get up on stage and perform is amazing! He was a true performer! ❤
Elvis should not ha e been on stage in that condition. If he had a manager who cared about his well being he never would have allowed Elvis to perform in that condition.

Larry Geller said that Col. Parker FORCED Elvis to go on stage like that.
It was brief but the last tours of 1976 oct,nov,dec he slimmed down and looked and sang good especially that new years eve tour.

It is important we remember Elvis holistically. Everything, the good and the bad. If you're a real Elvis fan then you accept it all. It's ok to be critical, and still be a fan. Being blind to his faults isn't helpful.
To me it´s important to understand his problems, and also see in what horrible shape he actually was during a couple of tours. It helps us to understand why he died so young and to me, it does not make him a lesser person, he was just a man with an addiction and he could not get out of it. Today there is more help to recover, but back then it was tougher. And Elvis wasn´t ready to fully accept and admit his addiction and that made it even more difficult.
His talent and legacy does not get damaged because of the addiction, it can happen to anyone, and bad shows like "Houston we have a problem" or "Chaos in College Park", makes him more human in some ways. He always tried, but his illness and addictition just got the better of him sometimes, and of course more so in his last couple of years.
At the end of the day, when it all sums up, these are just small pieces of the puzzle that makes the greatest performer of all time. Nobody´s perfect, but Elvis was pretty damn close!
Elvis was a man, GOD blessed with great talents. But many people overlook, That he was just a man with faults and ailments like all of us.
Elvis Presley's body was shutting down and without medical intervention he was destined to die.

I think its important as fans to see all the sides of Elvis ♥ the GOOD, the bad and the ugly.
Its a shame that non Elvis ♥ fans only think of Elvis at the end of his life and forget about how amazing he was until the short period at the end.

At 41, I had a heart attack, issues with my retinas, foot drop, Covid and diagnosed with Gastroparesis. My dad used to say after 40 it all goes downhill. At that time, it was crucial for people to rally with support but, give me space & time to heal - to focus on my health. And, for the most part, I'm back to me. But, I can't imagine being away from home and performing night after night being that ill with all the pressure he had. After my own health struggles, I understand Elvis more.
I like that you share his incredible happiness and accomplishments but also share his difficulties and sadness.
I have 3 rare genetic diseases. Many are the same organ problems Elvis had. I can’t believe how hard it must have been for him to function.

Well we know now he was having a lot of health problems, which we the fans were not aware of. I myself was younger in 1975. And I knew he was having health problems, but they kept it away from his fans. And he kept touring, to let us think he was fine. And I believe that was Elvis, himself the way he wanted it. To be kept quiet, everything that was going on with him.
Even Elvis at his worst was better than a lot of the new artists out today...

I saw him in March of 1976, and he was incredible! Seeing this 4 months later, I can't believe it. He was heavy when I saw him but his voice was incredible. That was my 1st concert I was 13.

Is that all you got? From a 30 year career? Elvis felt he couldn't stop because he had so many mouths to feed-all the people who counted on him for their payroll. He should have thought more of himself and got rid of those people…oh wait, he did, then they stabbed him in the back. He was a trailblazer, human and too kind for his own good.
Elvis was not the same at the end of his life and career. He was so blessed with a wonderful talent. But life just ate him up and that's why he is gone now. Will always miss him. Dr. Elias Ghanen had Elvis practically in a coma from the meds he prescribed for Elvis.
As soon as Dr. Nick was back in the picture a few weeks later, huge difference in Elvis' performances.

I'm in agreement. This "doctor" was accused of fraud and was criticized for his dispensing powerful sedatives for his "therapy" sessions.

Only his dad, The Colonel and Dr Nick could have helped him. He wouldn't listen to anyone. I always wondered why they didnt get him the help he needed. Especially since Vernon saw how Gladys put on weight, puffy, and was dying over a period of a few years. He could see Elvis with the same diseases, same downward progression, elevated by his prescription abuse for his many ailments. If only!

I'm very interested in the less glamorous aspects of his life, and how he dealt with the phenomenon of being Elvis. I think Elvis had been ready to meet his maker for a long while. I wish more people understood how ill he was, medically and the toll that took on him. I really like everything you do David, and the spirit of love in which it's done. Unconditional love means accepting the good, bad and indifferent. I like how you TCB!
I think like you too! I mentioned no aspects of Elvis life and find this just as interesting. I hesitate to post stuff like this because people have their opinions but at the end of the day I think this is part of the story and should be talked about as well.
I can understand Elvis is the man in two ways, he was the best but also he was a man, so thank you for showing us both, I always wished he’d lived the life of one of his movie roles you know with the happy endings
It’s always so sad to see him this way. I think by this time in his career he was so fed up with a lot of things that he just really didn’t care anymore. I think he always wanted to show up for the fans but health wise he probably should’ve taken some time off to kind of regroup and get himself together. The thing is, Elvis on a bad night is still better than everybody else on a good night!
Elvis wasn't well, for years, by this time in 1976 he was gravely ill, and on a lot of medication, to keep him functional, personally idont think the colonel should have let him perform, he was exhausted, but I believe Elvis wouldn't cancel his shows because he didn't want to disappoint his fans, unfortunately, it led to his demise, it broke my heart when he died 😥I have been a fan since 1956 I still can't get enough of him👌💜

It's easy to look back and get a more accurate impression when you have the bigger picture to work with. You can't take a career like this and isolate certain moments as a way of judging the whole experience. For example, when Glen Campbell was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's and went on tour with his children, when he forgot the words, the fans sang for him because they were happy to see him no matter how he played. The same was true for Frank Sinatra. In all of these cases, their career has to accepted as a whole, because without the flubs and imperfections that made them human, there would be no history!!!
SIAP by another fan, but we all know that E was in the throes of substance abuse; however, this extremely talented artist was BORED OUT OF HIS SKULL. The same tours doing the same thing. Big cities, podunk towns, it didn’t matter. Elvis was cheated out of a possibility career-changing film (A Star is Born), and was forbidden from performing for his fans internationally. No, “Hawaii” wasn’t enough to squelch the need to see fans all over the world. Every time Elvis was challenged, he rose to the occasion. The Fifties TV shows. The ‘68 Special. The International Hotel where he set all time attendance records, The Memphis Recordings at American Sound Studios, Aloha From Hawaii, Madison Square Garden…et al.
The man could do it all. He was held back-and still, was THE GOAT.
I've been Elvis fan since 7. Always searching for his concerts and the other media stuff. My knowledge of his personal life was the 'He Touched Me' doc and some other thing here and there. Just 3 years ago I started a deep research on more books. And you know what? I love him more than before.
Thank you for this, even though I felt sadness watching it. Elvis had his issues for sure, as we all know. But I honestly believe one of his faults that was hard for him to overcome was that he was too trusting and he placed too much trust in the wrong people. He should have sent Parker on his way many years before the end. Parker prevented him from international tours and he kept him locked into the same old movie genre. Elvis should have been given meaningful roles and who knows where his career would have gone. Elvis also kept a lot of people around him who were there to reap the gifts that Elvis liked to give out, the cars, the jewelry, the trips, the cash, etc. He was too kind-hearted and I think his life would have been different if he had focused more on the business aspect of his career instead of agreeing to things he didn’t want to do. He had an amazing gift and was the greatest entertainer. Otherwise, how could you explain the continuing adoration of his fans, nearly 50 years after he left this world. I do believe he would be surprised to know that millions of us still think of him, play his music and still love him. R.I.P. dear Elvis. 💔🙏💔🙏

I think it's good for us to hear and see Elvis in this condition. It just shows me he was human, and my thinking is he was seriously ill and of course, over medicating.
I saw two other artists who were in far worse shape, David :(. I didn't leave the venues, but it was disappointing and sad to see "greats" when they're in decline.

My admiration for Elvis is such that no matter what I learn about his human side, it doesn't affect my respect and devotion to him and his legacy. Even Houston 76 didn't alter my feelings. What he gave the world far outweighs his human frailties a million fold. What saddens me though is that he, and us, missed out on what could have been had he not fallen into all the habits that eventually claimed his life. Imagine the ground breaking world tours and new recordings, the fantastic concerts with varied set lists instead of the repetitive set list from 75 to 77, and so on. There is no doubt he loved being Elvis - I just wish, as we all do, that he'd loved it for much much longer.

My parents saw Elvis live in 1975 and 1976 in New Haven, CT. My Mom swears Elvis was better in ‘76 than ‘75, but that’s obviously just one recollection from a very long time ago. You guys who study bootlegs probably know better. Fascinating video!
I think at his worst Elvis was awesome! I was 15 in 1976 and I remember reading in the papers how his shows were slightly lackluster but the crowds had loads of fun!

If my memory serves me correctly, I think three times in 1976 they tried to get him straightened out . And I believe for this tour they had fired Dr Nick and replaced him with somebody else . And I don't know if he was trying to swap his medication or if he took him off of all the medication that Dr Nick had him under. But I was thinking they fired the new doctor before the tour was over or right after the tour was over , and they brought back Dr Nick and sort of straightened him out a little bit

Yea….he had no business being on stage for that last year of his life. He needed a 2-year sabbatical to get clean, clear his head and get in shape. I heard that after the Aloha shows, Elvis was on a steady decline until his death.
Elvis could only sustain being "ELVIS" for so long. He gave his all and far more than he should have. Yeah these are low points, because he kept going when he should have taken time off. But Elvis knew it was fans who got him where he was, and he felt he owed them that.

It is sad to see, but we have to accept the truth of his final years. As much as we love him and as great as he was, he had demons and human frailties like the rest of us. I just wish that certain people didn’t try so hard to only see him as his worst self. I think as fans we see it all and realize how much good he gave us. Elvis was dealing with so many health issues, he worked so hard to make everyone happy! In my humble opinion, the people surrounding Elvis didn't have his best interest at heart! It was all about the money, and not enough about the wonderful man!! In my mind and heart he was and still is The Greatest of All Time! My question is, If people had to walk in that man's shoes, How many of them would be able to do what he did! How would they feel if people criticized them for what their going through? Even with all his health issues, when he should have been on bed rest, he was on stage performing!! No matter what anyone says about Elvis, I will always Love Him! I have been a fan for 64 years and I will be until I take my last breath!!
David, you are not doing something bad by showing these worst moments. On the contrary you are doing good because as Elvis fans we want to know the truth about him. Personally I want to see more bad times so I can understand the reality of 1974 to 1977 and what was really going on.
god in the ending where he sings "you aint, you ain't, you ain't" etc, you can hear how incredibly bored elvis was. He said he dreaded singing that song from 1974 onwards, I think its strange that elvis forced himself to do so many shows and sing the same songs, no wonder he was bored.
This time in elvis's life, to me it's clear to me he needed a break, bad management? And were was the duty of care from the people around elvis ? . A great talent gone far to soon ❤
I saw him the last week of July , 1976 at the Hartford Civic Center .. the concert had its high and low points … naturally when he sang HURT was the high point … the low point was at some points he couldn’t put a sentence together . He really didn’t look good … Larry Geller styled his hair in a Beatles mop style that didn’t work for Elvis . He wore the blue bicentennial suit .. and naturally due to his health issues he was very bloated. He looked much better the year before, 1975 when I saw him in New Haven.

One of the most mature things you can do as an Elvis fan is be critical of him. Fair but critical is the right approach. I was very much in that "sycophant" stage when I was young (I'm in my 60s), but as more Elvis info became available and I gained more insight into life in general as I aged, you can start separating fact from fiction. Every concert wasn't the greatest concert ever. Every song wasn't great. Every belief and reaction he had wasn't the correct belief and reaction. Elvis was like a lot of us, flawed. But there was something otherworldly about him. I still marvel whenever I see photos of him wearing a regular shirt in the 1970d, like, "Man, that's a shirt I could have worn." But I really like what George Harrison (who saw Elvis at MSG) said, which was something to the effect of "When he was good, he was great." I had a college baseball coach who was not an Elvis fan but saw him at Lake Tahoe in late 1976; he said the electricity in the air before he came on was unlike anything he had ever seen, and he said Elvis was awesome. Another person I knew who worked in management at the Long Beach arena met Elvis backstage, which would have been April 25, 1976, and said he looked into Elvis' eyes and nobody was home. These are anecdotal, but it's just part of the tapestry of his life. Maybe not everyone wants to hear about Elvis' worst tour, but that's why I immediately clicked on link. Keep up the great work!

Yes I meant he did not do a great performance here but his voice and the ability to hold the tone of the song was still very much there so even though he did not do his best himself I think his vocal performance stood out amazingly but that is my my point and you did really good thank you for the good video

How much can anyone expect from one man!! Elvis was a sincere and caring human being! He gave his ALL to the entire world! The man was exhausted!! I'm exhausted from on day of work, imagine what Elvis was doing, show after show after show, year after year...he has the RIGHT to be exhausted...if you watched the Elvis movie, you will see why! FINANCIAL ABUSE AND being EXHAUSTED from having to keep up literally what was being taken from him..Parker threatened to take Graceland from him, and Elvis' spirit would never give up, but his body needed rest. May he rest in peace...he was an angel on earth..good to everyone...He was the most compassionate and caring man who gave his heart and soul to his music and gave that to the world.. He will live in our hearts for eternity.

His worst tour is still better than anyone else’s best. Every tour was and is (on the screen now) a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, and every song and move has different nuances. Nothing can be done to change the past and help Elvis. So at least we have all those ‘worst’ tours to appreciate the better ones even more and love Elvis the way he was.
I went to Memphis/Tupelo in 2001 from the UK. Elvis to me is and always will be a legend but whilst I was there, I realised Elvis was a mere mortal and it saddened me immensely. It is a sad story, worked way too hard - tour after exhausting tour when so clearly rest was needed. It truly is a lonely life at the top. ⚡️TCE⚡️Always
I truly mean this I would give anything to see Elvis live at his absolute worst. Because at his worse he was the absolute best in my opinion. I was only four when he passed away and apparently, he was coming to Portland Oregon in 1977 but sadly I never got to see him. My Mother did, in 1970 and she said it was the greatest thing she had ever seen!

I think if elvis had cleaned up and lived long after this period in time, then I think we could all look back at this and have a good laugh. I think a lot of it is funny to listen to and elvis had a great sense of humour. However since we all now know that all of this was symptomatic of what eventually killed him, it is also quite sad to listen to and watch.
Elvis was certainly in rough shape overall here. Physically, internally and emotionally.

That summer season of 1976 was terrible for Elvis. He was exhausted, stressed; He was in the worst shape. I think that, in 1975, Elvis should have stopped everything and gone to cure his illnesses And detoxify from so much garbage that he had in his body. So, 1976 would have started in the best way, shining as he always did. But, anyway, we already know how the story happened.

Being a drummer, the highlight of these shows is the band solos, particularly the drum solos! That's what I listen to them for.

August 1, 1976 was in Virginia at Hampton Roads Coliseum, not the Houston, we have a problem show. I know that because I was there. August 28, 1976 was the Houston show. The show I attended wasn't the Elvis of 72 and 73, but it wasn't a bad show, nothing like the clips you just showed. He was overweight, but not a bad show, and the crowd was really into it too. The afternoon show I attended was the last time he performed Return To Sender on stage.
