Kaliontzidis is great. At 4:43 he starts playing a song we call "şeranitsa" in Greece. As far as I've been taught, it has its origins in Şiran.
Young talent. If he educates him self, he will be one of the greatest names of kemence when he gets old. He is only 21 now.

My dear friend, I feel as if I known you all my life. I am a fan of your web site. I personally met in Boston Michalis when he was at his initial stages. I come from a long history of Kemence players unfortunately I am not one. I want to clarify some thinks that even todays the young generation (westernized!!!!) Greeks are not aware off. The Eastern Roman Empire that today the west calls Byzantium from the city that now is called Istanbul, was known at its own time as Romania.

kemenceyi karadenizin çalgısıdır ve hemen hemen karadeniz boyundaki turk uluslarında vardır. gagaus turkleri mesela tulumda vardır. Ama muzik evrenseldir. Duyguarını yansıttığın her enstrumanla çalabilirsin. sonuçta hepsi nota verir ve süs verir. Ayrıca karadenizde kemanı çalmak değil ağlatanlar bilirim ben. bilmediğimiz konularda pek yorum yapmasak iyi olur guzel olan her muzik kulagahoş gelir üstatlarımız elien kulağına sağlık...
