This was a really insightful and in depth review into this book. Would you say there’s any parallels between Lord of the Flies and Heart of Darkness? I was thinking about reading them together, because they have similar themes. Or would you recommend reading Nostromo after Heart if Darkness instead? Thanks for the review.

Thank you so much, Marc! 😃 I definitely see your point about the many parallels between Heart of Darkness and Lord of the Flies! It's been a while since I read Golding. Personally, I believe Nostromo is superior to Golding's novel, though I love both authors. Either option sounds like a wonderful reading experience to me after Heart of Darkness. Thanks again, and happy reading, my friend!

I agree, my friend! 😃 I believe his own personal favorite was The Inheritors. I really enjoyed Pincher Martin, Free Fall, The Spire, and Darkness Visible. I haven't read the trilogy yet. I'll do a video on him one of these days. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, and have a fantastic day!

The publication date is confusing, because the novella first appeared in Blackwood's Magazine, in 1899. As a book, it was first published in 1902, along with two other stories. This 1902 version is the one you mentioned, published by Dover.
