Quite frankly, part of the blame lies on them because Guyver was pretty old and the last animated show was about 16 years ago from the time this one was aired. They didn't really market it that well and it mainly flew under the radar., also the fact that fans didn't like this version compared to the ova.

Still one of the best remakes ever done. While the original is a masterpiece, this remake is faithful to this series yet it feels also new in most aspects. It’s a lot better than most series that get released nowadays 😢.
Eh, the story was more faithful to the manga, but this show had more source material to work with. Apart from that, the music, fight scenes, and character designs were all superior in the 80s OVA. Sho looks like a generic shonen protag here.

This was a beautiful remake of the original one. They made him having earlier access to the guyver's abilities at an earlier stage. But the original one still gives me mad goosebumps since the 90's.

undoubtedly the best adaptation of this so legendary manga Guyver, also with very good songs, really this need return someday to give the series a complete and appropriate end to the incredible story, no more cliffhangers, a total resolution, could be fantastic.
i much prefer the remake over the original the dub is just unbearable to listen to plus the remake writes the characters much better and i believe the voices are much more fitting rather than the originals
Ah, I remember this anime and intro, brings back a nostalgic feeling even though it was a year ago. Despite how dull things felt in here compared to the 1989 OVA, I think this is the better choice to see, for people who don't want to waste their time with 12 OVA's and see it again. Otherwise, I think both were neat adaptions.
Glad Guyver finally reached some sense of conclusion, with 80s anime franchises, those are few and far between. I'm eagerly anticipating what this franchise may be alluding to. Will Agito topple Cronos? Will the "Creators" leave it's experiments on earth alone for self reflective mutual developmental benefit, and will Sho stow his sense for revenge for the political benefit of all? Such nebulous answers may never be revealed to us in the next episode of Guyver Ballz.

I like Guyver, but Iron Man would win because he's an American comic book character. Anime characters usually have actual defined limits, while comic book characters can do pretty much anything.
I remember being at Ohayocon in 2007 and viewing a few episodes of this anime there. I think I went on to watch the series based on this opening alone, haha. So awesome.

Am I the only one that misses ultra violent anime in general the over abundance of moe and pervy fan service has gotten to the point its just white noise at this point
funnily enough, what originally drew me to the guyver franchise is not the gore, violence or the hardcore action scenes but rather the almost space opera undertones, characters, lore & its inclusion of pop culture references of outdated scientific theories, various fields of knowlege like history, biology, genetics, the cool costume/creature designs and the themes of tragedy and being human are those details i deeply appreciate from a series like guyver.
Wish they pick this up again and go back to the "ultra violence" days of the late 80's and 90's, this was a great remake and the animation was great but the original was definitely more violent miss those days, what is anime today?
I remember seeing the first episode of this show a lot since i got a disk of Newtype USA that had the first episode both dubbed and subbed, it was cool but the opening is what I mainly remembered. And rewatching it now man it still slaps.
I this this like in 2011 and liked it one of the anime i enjoyed alot. The ancient aliens side to this was unbelievable for me but i like the theory or whatever its called.

(even with the filler eps) 2004 animation is a bit better & has more content/expanded lore regarding guyvers and zoalords origins but in terms of music i much prefer the soundtracks from the 1989 ova adaptation. though i watched both versions so at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preferences.
I used to excuse this version's lack of violence due to the fact that it aired on TV. But then JoJo's Bizarre Adventure aired on the same channel on the same time slot and not only was it 10 times more violent than this anime but it was more violent than its OVA counterpart as well. Oh well. I still love this version.

i feel like lack of marketing costed them badly. Guyver is 10x better than lots of new anime average garbage thats on nowadays.
The ending set it up perfectly for season 2.

Having watched the OVA and the '05 series, the OVA fight scenes don't look that great.
undoubtedly the best adaptation of this so legendary manga Guyver, also with very good songs, really this need return someday to give the series a complete and appropriate end to the incredible story, no more cliffhangers, a total resolution, could be fantastic.

i much prefer the remake over the original the dub is just unbearable to listen to plus the remake writes the characters much better and i believe the voices are much more fitting rather than the originals

Ah, I remember this anime and intro, brings back a nostalgic feeling even though it was a year ago. Despite how dull things felt in here compared to the 1989 OVA, I think this is the better choice to see, for people who don't want to waste their time with 12 OVA's and see it again. Otherwise, I think both were neat adaptions.
Glad Guyver finally reached some sense of conclusion, with 80s anime franchises, those are few and far between.
I'm eagerly anticipating what this franchise may be alluding to.
Will Agito topple Cronos? Will the "Creators" leave it's experiments on earth alone for self reflective mutual developmental benefit, and will Sho stow his sense for revenge for the political benefit of all?

Guyver would win, bio weapons are better than tech weapons, its a reality
I like Guyver, but Iron Man would win because he's an American comic book character. Anime characters usually have actual defined limits, while comic book characters can do pretty much anything.
Depends on which armor and version of Ironman. There are some Guyver can beat but there are some Ironman variants that fought gods.

Am I the only one that misses ultra violent anime in general the over abundance of moe and pervy fan service has gotten to the point its just white noise at this point
funnily enough, what originally drew me to the guyver franchise is not the gore, violence or the hardcore action scenes but rather the almost space opera undertones, characters, lore & its inclusion of pop culture references of outdated scientific theories, various fields of knowlege like history, biology, genetics, the cool costume/creature designs and the themes of tragedy and being human are those details i deeply appreciate from a series like guyver.

I remember seeing the first episode of this show a lot since i got a disk of Newtype USA that had the first episode both dubbed and subbed, it was cool but the opening is what I mainly remembered. And rewatching it now man it still slaps.

of course! (even with the filler eps) 2004 animation is a bit better & has more content/expanded lore regarding guyvers and zoalords origins but in terms of music i much prefer the soundtracks from the 1989 ova adaptation. though i watched both versions so at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preferences.

I used to excuse this version's lack of violence due to the fact that it aired on TV. But then JoJo's Bizarre Adventure aired on the same channel on the same time slot and not only was it 10 times more violent than this anime but it was more violent than its OVA counterpart as well.
Oh well. I still love this version.
