      It was, Frances! So peaceful among all that natural beauty.

    10,000 steps 😮 Wow! I'm lucky to get 4,000 on a really good day.

      SAME HERE!! 4000 is usually my line between "might be OK" and "certain crash." So, yeah, that was definitely too much. I can tolerate a bit more exertion when camping because everything is so peaceful - no stress, no responsibilities or obligations - it's very relaxing and restful, so that helps. Treating OI and improving immune function have also greatly helped my exertion tolerance over the years p and m ore recently, normalizing my thyroid function.

    This camp area is my favorite so far. We have hit the 20's and it IS COLD! LOL But not to worry, the planes have been active geoengineering and the temps are forecasted to get hot again. What were the two wrist bands? And it's own LFL?! I mean, that's just icing on the cake. LOL The smile your hubby gives you in the beginning of the video on the bridge is so cute.

      Thanks! One of my favorite trips, too - just so much stunning beauty! Those were heart rate monitors (one is an Apple watch) - with my illness, even mild exertion can make me much worse, and keeping my heart rate below a certain point (about 105 for me) is one way to try to keep from over-doing. Though this illness also causes a very high HR (and too-low BP), so it's complicated! Yes, I've noticed several VA state parks now have LFL's :) My husband is still getting used to "starring" in my videos - ha ha

    Thank you for sharing your vacation with me! In the 4 years that I lived in Virginia, I almost never left the town where my university was, so I especially loved this video! Yes, take advantage of the beautiful fall weather!

      I didn't know you went to school in Virginia! Which college? I considered Virginia Tech but ended up choosing Clarkson (way up north!). Was in the 20's this morning!! Can't believe I was wearing shorts five days ago .

      @@SueJacksonDE I went to William and Mary, so most of my time in Virginia was spent in and around Williamsburg. I did also spend some time in Northern Virginia, as most of my college friends went to that area. My brother and his family have since moved to the Charlottesville area, so I'm sure my next trip (whenever that will be) will spend some time in that area.

      @@awebofstories My college roommate lives in Williamsburg, so we have visited them a few times on our trips down there :) And my closest friend here in DE went to William & Mary! She's a bit older than you, so I don't think you'd know here, but she enjoyed her time there. Let me know if you're ever on the East Coast!

    Lovely video! The colours of the trees are beautiful. Are the snakes that you encountered dangerous? All snakes in Australia will bite and make you sick or will kill you unless you get medical treatment.
    We have an A frame camper, so often go camping which we love. Really enjoy seeing your state parks.
    Nine lives is a great book. Kept me guessing till the end.

      Thanks! No, those were harmless little grass snakes. Only a few poisonous species here in the U.S. Glad to hear you enjoy camping, too :) We just had friends from Australia visiting last month, and they really enjoyed the glimpse they got of fall and some of our parks, though they were only here in the Northeast. And, yes, Nine Lives was a twisty one - kept us guessing, too!

    Can I ask does using the paddle in the kayak make your heartbeat increase?

    • @SueJacksonDE
      @SueJacksonDE  Год назад +1

      Not much! That's why kayaking is so great for me. I'm sitting rather than standing, and paddling takes very little exertion. It's pretty cool - very little movement makes the boat glide forward. You're mostly using upper shoulder muscles and not much else. Plus we paddle VERY chill - a few paddles, then sit and rest and take in the view (and take some photos), etc. As an example from that trip, during the hike on Tuesday (which was short and pretty easy), my HR averaged 91. During the kayaking the next day, the average was only 82! Keep in mind, I treated my Orthostatic Intolerance (OI) to help bring my HR down into more normal levels - without that, I'd be unable to do much of anything at all. More info on OI in the notes below this video.
