Thank you Susan! Your tutorial was perfect step by step, easy to understand. Your quilts are exquisite and your home is so lovely. Wish I could stop by for some coffee and lessons! 😊. I so admire your work! I appreciate you sharing your experience and talent! God bless!
Hi Suzan! I like your hexie method! I’ve always used the paper and thought it’s a lot of steps to get to the finished product. This method is only sewing once and you’re done! Thank you so much for showing us this method. I love doing hexies and this is much easier. I need to order a stamp! Great video as usual!!! 🪡🧵🪡✂️✂️✂️🌸🌼🌺💕💕💕
I've seen some different ways of doing hexies but never this method. It looks much easier than using the papers then having to remove them all after the hexies are sewn. I've always wanted to try making a Grandmother's Garden quilt and I think this is the way to go! Thanks for sharing!
This was a lovely video. I really like this stamp method of doing hexis. I’m going to look into this because using papers sometimes doesn’t work for me. On a completely aside note, I love this blue top you have on. I sew garments as well and the design detail is beautiful 😊
I’ve done lots of hexies, but never this method. I’ve used the paper shapes, never seen the stamp. I like to hand piece, and I think it would be nice not to have to remove all the papers! I may just give it a try! Thanks for demonstrating.
Ty for the tutorial. I would have liked to see the appliqué stitching example on the completed flower. Perhaps you can refer me to someone showing this?
Like the previous commenter I also bought some stamps from Kate. I have my jelly roll and I’m waiting for some solids for the inside hexagon as I want all of them to have a yellow center. This is going to be so fun! Once you get s device to hold your camera you will be able to do more. Even though we didn’t see a really truly tutorial you gave us the bones of it all and it was very helpful. I would suggest adding in what size hexagon you used as you forgot that. I figured it out by looking at one of your hexagons on a cutting mat.
Karen, thank you so much for the great tips on doing a tutorial. I did forget to mention what size to order in the video. So good you figured it out. I do believe it is the 1 inch stamp. That is confusing as it sounds too small, but that is the one to order. I hope you enjoy making your flowers for you Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt!
@@pigtailquiltingstitching5635 Do you really think it is a one inch? I’ll have to look at mine. I ordered a two inch and a one inch. I thought when you stamped the stamp went across almost the whole width of the fabric. So I thought it must be a two inch stamp. But I could have that wrong. One inch or two inch, they are all pretty! It has to save time since there isn’t the fuss of folding fabric over the paper pieces and gluing or basting them! Saving time means more quilts can be done. I did want to say I loved your Lori Holt Tomato quilt so I ordered the kit. I might have also ordered her Sunbonnets Sue and Gingham Flowers kits. They are all so cute!
You were right! I went and put the stamp on it and its the 1 inch. I must not understand math because I’m thinking a 2 inch should fit but it doesn’t!@@pigtailquiltingstitching5635
Karen, I thought just like you that how can it be a 1inch. I looked at it again and again. It is so confusing as it fits on a 2 1/2 inch strip. So I can see how the 2 inch one makes sense, but it is the 1 inch stamp.
I have another question as it seems I am doing a sew along with you. I stamped, cut, and sewed several hexagons. I have my background fabrics. What size blocks are you adding on the side of the background. I really like the scrappy block smashing you are doing!
Karen, how fun we are doing a sew along! The size blocks on the side are 2 1/2 inches. I am using the scraps of the jelly roll for my scrappy sashing. I hope this answers your question. If not let me know:)
@@pigtailquiltingstitching5635 You are so kind and patient with me and I appreciate that effort. Why? Because I reviewed the prior video a d the video on your retreat preparation and you had all the information in there! You even showed your new clear 1 inch hexagon! So thank you again for your patience and understanding.
Karen, thank you so much. Questions are always welcomed and encouraged. I learn so much from others so if you have questions or it is confusing I am so glad you comment and ask. It helps me to know how I can do this better and explain also.
Debbie, the stamp fits perfectly on a 2 1/2 inch strip. Of course you can us and size fabric as long at it fits on fabric. The stamp is for a 1 inch and is marked on the stamp when you look in the website. I am sorry I did not mention that in the video. Thank you!
Is the ink pad you are using water solvable? I believe the pins you use to hang quilts are called dressmaker pins. Thanks for this video. I'd never heard of the stamps before. I'll go take a look and see what sizes are available. I have a bundle of antique blocks I'd like to put together and finish.
I believe the stamp pad is made for fabrics. Thank you for letting me know what the pins are called. The size of the stamp I used is 1 inch. That sounds confusing but that is the size I ordered. Look on line and see the sizes that they come in. So nice you have antique blocks to finish!
@@pigtailquiltingstitching5635 Thank you for the information. I went to the site last night and did some reading. The ink is permanent and is to be used with a very light touch. It said that it can bleed through if applied to heavily. I found the blocks in an antique shop here in Nebraska. They were in an envelope box from many years ago and they remain in that box today. There are more than 50 large blocks and twenty some half blocks. They are stitched in a diamon pattern. Not quite enough for all of the edges. They were beautifully and expertly hand sewn. There are a couple of handmade templates in the box but they do not match the size of the pieces in the blocks. I think I need 1 3/16". Indeed, a very odd size so the stamps will not work for this project. I do like the concept of the stamps though.
Your blocks sound so nice! So good you read up about the stamp pad on the website too! I have had really good results using the stamp and pad for making my flowers. Your antique blocks will be amazing however you decide how to finish.
Valerie, thank you! I am sorry I didn’t mention what size that stamp was. It is a 1 inch. That is the size on the website of the stamp. It sounds confusing as it seems bigger but that is the size on the website. Hope this helps.
I am so sorry Lisa, I am trying to work on how much movement there was in the video. Please let me know what questions you have and maybe I can help in the confusion.
So sorry Dora, I will have to figure out how to video this without so much movement. Thank you for your feedback and I will for sure work on this in the future.
Nicely done. Thank you!
I love all your tutorials.
I’ve wondered how the stamps work, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing. This is the first time I've seen this technique demonstrated and explained. I sincerely appreciate your time.

Thank you so much - great idea, I usually use papers but might try this!
Love how informative this video was. Such beautiful work.

Where do you buy that stamp? So interesting!
Amazing! So much easier. Want to try this. Thank you.
I just received my stamps and pad for grandmothers garden and love them. I think it makes for faster sewing. Also enjoy all you decorating videos.
Where did you order from?
Her company, Stamps By Kate.
Thank you Susan! I have only used papers so this stamping method was new and fun to watch!

Louise, that stamp size is the inch size.
I think it’s quicker to use papers. Great tutorial though xx
