@Claire Lally - Exactly as Shane Folan said except that Archie had a change of heart halfway through the episode and tried to convince Suzy not to go through with it after all, but she went ahead and did it anyway. Hence why Archie is reassuring Sean in this scene.
He knew because it was obvious with his over passive attitude and he kept saying ''it has nothing to do with us'' in the later scenes in the laundry and trying to pull Ronnie away- it was obvious he was uncomfortable. It sort of is Hamlet philosophy with the famous ''methink the lady doth protest too much'' line ie. when somebody is too full of denial or to try and detach themselves from a scandal/shitstorm that kicks off it it because they are guilty which is what Jack did. The scene was also essential in revealing how street smart and clued in Sean was to situations and how obviously stupid/clueless Ronnie is as it was highly suspicious Roxy attacking Jack like that-how the hell did she not figure something was off then? And Sean[unlike Ronnie] himself was not even there to witness the attack which was the crucial evidence but was savvy enough to put the rest of the evidence together from Jack's behaviour and figured the truth. I felt the writers were saying there that Roxy's big loss in losing Sean was he was smart enough to look after her well, Ronnie on the other hand who always thought she knew best and took care of Roxy clearly showed she wasn't so bright even when the evidence was staring her in the face and couldn't lead Roxy properly.

Granted, Jack should've used something but Sean was the innocent one as he was with her and thought he was until this point.
