I feel that Prisoner of Azkaban is the best movie. I can watch it a million times and it never gets old. Still give me chills in the scary parts and happiness in the upbeat parts.
Prisoner of Azkaban really is THE best movie of the franchise. But my favorite book is Order of the Phoenix. Loved the book, but the movie kinda let me down (big book and only so much you can put in a movie). Also Ryan your hair looks fine henny!
chamber of secrets is so underrated imo. I loved when they introduced harry being able to speak parseltongue. that whole moment when he spoke it, the kids reactions, the trios reaction afterwords, and ofc how snape reacted. I think that’s when he realized that harry was more than a boy who survived voldermort. and that the dark lord actually gave (as we know) some of his powers to harry. I feel like snape being involved a lot in what harry went through makes the overall book franchise amazing.
prisoner of azkaban is my fave purely because MAURADERS and also it has the least voldemort storyline cause i low-key love just hogwarts and the characters daily lives way more than the actual plot of the series

okay but the entire time i was watching this i was just hoping prisoner of azkaban would win because it is my favourite as well!!! the score alone wins it for me!!!
I can’t have this debate without thinking of the books in terms of their adaptation. I applaud Ryan for being able to separate the movie from the adaptation. Sam should read the books. :)
Hot take but my favorite Harry Potter movie is Chamber of Secrets. I just love how the plot develops and have always liked the layout of Hogwarts that Chris Columbus did as opposed to changes in prisoner of Azkaban and later.
My husband and I did this along with you guys and it was HARD!!! I cannot get over the impact and emotional attachment/nostalgia sorcerers stone had on me as a child, that is was way too hard to be critical. I can quote the entire movie front to back and I can’t do that with any of the others. This was HARD!!
My favorite part in the entire series is in DHP2 when Harry goes and sees Snape's memories. They did it so beautifully and I go back to that and watch just that scene all the time.
Ryan was so invested in this ranking, He was passionate about defending his choices. I fully agree with where it ended up, but it made me chuckle as it is clear that he is an HP fan and it mattered to him far more than some of the other rankings that they have done.
So I loved the POA book so much that, when I saw the movie, I was so disappointed. It was nothing like I had imagined my favorite book to look like. In fact, I rarely rewatch it because it feels so different. However, hearing Ryan acknowledge that they are different and why it is so great anyway has made me realize I need to be kinder to that film. I’m excited to rewatch it now. Thanks guys!
Hey guys, I know you have mentioned it briefly a few times in past videos, but I think it would be cool if you made a video talking about why you don’t want kids. Not like you have to justify yourselves - I don’t want kids either, but I always think it’s cool to hear from others perspectives, and you two are always so eloquent and bring up great points ^-^
I completely forgot that Americans called the philosophers stone the sorcerers stone and got caught of guard so much, For a split second I thought that there was this other HP film that came out that I just didn’t remember
Much love to Sam but I really just think Sorcerer's Stone is an infinitely better MOVIE (and book but I could see a lot more arguments about that). The OOTP is just so montage-y which makes a lot of sense because the book was so massive but can sometimes be detrimental to the plot and character motivations also I think it's hilarious how Ryan almost always convinces Sam to take his side at the end
Why is Ryan giving me pirate vibes 😂 I feel like he just needs some ruffles on his shirt, an earring, and some eyeliner I love it 😂😂😂 also loved Sam’s impression of Cedric father 😭😭
1) Philosopher's Stone 2) Chamber of Secrets 3) Deathly Hallows, Pt. I 4) Order of the Phoenix 5) Deathly Hallows, Pt. II 6 Prisoner of Azkaban 7) Half-Blood Prince 8) Goblet of Fire You can't change my mind.
deathly hallows pt 2 has got to be the best movie for me. it’s just such a satisfying ending to a very complex story and it’s heartbreaking at the same time. the drama, the relationships, and how much of it reflects onto the epic book. it’s just so amazing.
Also thank you for explaining why prisoner of Azkaban is so great like it’s always been my favorite and for some reason I didn’t really understand why but it’s different and it’s great and now I wanna watch them all again lol
Regal Cinema has been showing HP movies randomly once or twice a month, but in 4DX!!! It’s awesome! The whole seats shake and they have effects like wind and snow etc, pleaaase go if you have a chance! They just showed prisoner of Azkaban, so goblet of fire is prolly next! I’d expect in January sometime! and it’s only 8 bucks! Ahh!!
My personal ranking is 1. Order of the Phoenix 2. Goblet of Fire 3. Deathly Hallows Part 2. 4. Prisoner of Azkaban 5. Sorcerer's Stone 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Deathly Hallows Part 1. 8. Half Blood Prince But it could go anyway with most of these, they all have a similar quality of greatness.
The Prizoner of Askaban when I was younger was my least favourite of the films. I felt it didn't go well with the other movies for me I liked in the other movies Harry, Ron and Hermione face some sort of version of Voldemort but the third movie wasnt like that. At the time I felt it wasn't as epic not seeing Voldy. But now I have come to really appreciate the third film as a turning point in the movies and love that you get to see more of the world building with the ministry and the back story with the characters and see it as a true school year where there is more to Harry's world he discovers.
This was the perfectly done. Last battle should've definitely been between PoA and DH. I might've picked DH but you made some strong arguments, Ryan sir
My order for the books is: 1. Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Order of the Phoenix 3. Sorcerer’s Stone (or Philosopher’s Stone) 4. Deathly Hallows 5. Half Blood Prince 6. Chamber of Secrets 7. Goblet of Fire Movies: 1. Prisoner of Azkaban 2. Deathly Hallows Part 2 3. Sorcerer’s Stone (Philosopher’s Stone) 4. Order of the Phoenix 5. Deathly Hallows Part 1 6. Half Blood Prince 7. Chamber of Secrets 8. Goblet of Fire
Here to stir things up with a (tragically) unpopular opinion. The Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone movie is the best - all the way. And I feel like that should be a more popular opinion amongst the book fans. Also CoS is great & underrated. First of all - they're just TRULY magical. The world building /setup is the best of all of the movies. (They lose so much later with getting rid of the robes & the witchy aesthetic to instead go into a more modern mix). Second of all - the first one is prime example of a book-to-movie adapation done well. It's done PERFECTLY Chris Columbus is a genius, John Williams is [a] god. Richard Harris is the BEST Dumbledore. Period. PoA is usually people's fav - but it ruins so much of what the first two did so well. And imagine what an impact the sudden darkness of the plot would make if the costume/set design and overall aesthetic of the first two stayed consistent throughout the series. Just lighting changes, music, etc. It would all just be so much more sinister. (Same with Dumbledore. I know it wasn't a choice, but tragic circumstances that made them change the actor, but honestly hate the direction they went with with having him suddenly be meaner/darker [the whole "Dumdledore asked calmly" to "DIDYAPUTYANAME... etc. debate]. It wasn't as much of a shock as it would be if a Richard-Harris-esque Dumbledore suddenly turned out to be much darker of a character than people thought in DH... Like it was in the books.) Anyway, went into a rant there... I always end up with an essay when I start this topic. Maybe someone will find this and agree 😅
Omg Prisoner of Azkaban has been my favourite HP movie ever since the first time I watched the series and when I tell you I got excited 😂 I just ah there's something about it. It really did set everything for the rest of the franchise and I think they just did it beautifully. muah, chef's kiss 😂
After doing a movie marathon with my mom, I realized Prisoner of Azkaban was most definitely my favorite harry potter movie, so I very much agree with this, especially since for a long time Deathly Hallows pt 2 was my favorite. Plus, just putting out there: POA is the gayest hp movie; I mean, wolfstar anyone?
Tbh I didn't like part 1 or 2 of deathly hollows at all lmao they weren't bad but they'd never be my favorite or what I'd consider to be 'the best' of HP.
Sooooo… love you guys but I’ll need y’all to redo this one. Y’all should make a criteria/rubric thing and score them 1-10 and compare them like that. I feel like each movie has their own strength and this ranking is biased towards your favorite strengths (if that makes sense).
