    OMG!!! I cannot tell you how much I needed this video!!! There is so much in this video I needed! The tongue tie portion got me! I teared up bc my 3 week old had a severe tongue tie. It was to the tip of this tongue and he couldn't stick his tongue out past his gums. I struggled and just got it clipped and it has been perfect since. However, I had no idea about all the other tie issues so this taught me so much. I also have to say I have googled and searched for anything I could on how to pump and get a "stash" without creating an oversupply. I couldn't find anything on how to get enough milk for my baby bc I have to go back to work after 6 weeks. I felt like I was starving my baby if I pump anything bc my supply was just barely enough for my baby due to his tongue tie issues. We are just now getting my supply back to normal so I was afraid to pump for so many reasons. So this helped me with when and how to pump and save for when I go back to work!!! Thank you so much for doing this video you ladies are a god send! 💕💕💕

    I had a tongue tie when I was a kid, my mom didn't breast feed so I don't think they worried about it, and doctors kept saying that I'd grow out of it??? Well I didn't and at 5 years old I could barely talk. Had my tongue tie fixed and was all good, though I don't think I ever got speech therapy. I think the fact of having the tongue tie so long and having the verbal delay is why I'm such a quiet person now even as an adult.

    This was so timely. My baby is on 6 weeks and he's been feeding on formula mostly because he was a fussy baby and wouldn't latch. With no proper guidance I had to give him formula so he wouldn't go hungry and now I just want to nurse him and it's a difficult transition.

    What about caffeine consumption while breastfeeding? I am a BIG coffee drinker. I try and do 2 cups a day but sometimes I am dying for a 3rd....
    Also you all mentioned not to pump until 6 weeks with my first child all the women at work were telling me i need to be pumping after everytime the baby eats.. i never did that because nobody had time for that... but i did use my haakaa from the time i got home from the hospital with both my babies. Is that bad? And i pump at night before i go to bed currently 5 weeks PP.

    Hi Sarah, I have a question regarding breastfed babies and jaundice. I took my baby to his first drs check up and she told me to bring him back in a few days for a jaundice check. I took him to his jaundice check and she told me to use vitamin D drops because breastmilk doesn't contain Vitamin D and it'll help his jaundice. She said typically babies can get it from sunlight but since our sky has been overcast that hasn't been an option. Why is it that breastmilk doesn't have vitamin D when it's essential for our health?

    Watched it last night live as I made dinner and then again today to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I do have a question, hope it can be answered at some point...
    I am 20 weeks pregnant now, already saw a bit of colostrum which is great, I would love to collect and maybe hand express a little before my baby’s arrival because I am going to have a repeat C-section (not a good candidate for a VBAC) but I am at HIGH risk for preterm labor (actually starting progesterone shots this week) and so my question is SHOULD I hand express and collect colostrum or should I not due to the risk of preterm labor?

    The oral tie thing is still weird to me. I just want to hear the science on this. Is the occurrence of ties increasing because of some kind of evolution thing or are we just becoming more aware of them? I went to a breastfeeding group, and they were just handing out pediatric dentist cards like they were candy. I don't know. Im not normally a skeptic, but it is strange how suddenly common these ties are.

    My baby is 3 months old and I’ve had to supplement with an sns for the whole 3 months. I always exclusively breastfeed for as long as I can, but usually after about 10 minutes (5 each side), he will start crying, pulling off, arching, etc. even if I burp him he won’t go back on once my breast are “empty” or supply has dropped. Do you have any tips on how to just keep him on the breast and not have to use the sns every time? I also pump and hand express between each feeding. He eats every 2-2.5 hrs. All I want is to exclusively breastfeed for a whole year if I can, but the sns is such a hassle it’s killing me 😩 I also use the milk I pump in the sns (he usually takes another 2.5-3oz in the sns).

    So late with my comment, I'm having my 5th baby and I've struggled to breastfeed all 4 times and I just gave up. I felt like my supply was so low and when I'd be expressing for like 20 minutes I would get like 10ml or less and that was Soooo demotivating. I really really want to breastfeed this time around. I'm only 13 weeks but I would like to do my research now rather than too late. Do you have any advice for me?

    As a dentist - we basically believe and research suggests that the development of teeth like in other animals is a cue for babies being ready to eat solids and no longer breastfeed. I don’t understand the advice to continue breastfeeding once teeth develop. It’s also important to wean off milk at this point to prevent nursing bottle syndrome. Please I ask all three of you to research the dental aspects as part of the responsibility of your work.

    • @faithharrison3755
      @faithharrison3755 3 года назад

      I breastfed both my kids until 3, after they transitioned to solids it wasn’t very often. They both had to have a lot of dental work because of cavities. There was no other sugar in their diets, so my conclusion based upon my own experience is, the risks of early dental work versus the benefits of extended breastfeeding is something to take seriously.

    I just had an epiphany! Sara & Candaces do you think that formula fed babies are more likely to be overweight as growing up and when they are grown? Because it’s not mom made, but manufactured?
