    I'm so glad I am not the only one who draps clothing over my fresh tattoos and seeking out the shade as promptly as possible. I can just feel people staring at me wondering what I am doing, or even questioning my sanity. 😂

    Good suggestions. I am been very diligent about protecting my new tattoos from sun exposure. You're right it's an investment and I want them to look as vibrant and awesome as long as possible without having to retouches frequently.

      You should generally keep a new tattoo out of the sun for a few weeks. Takes MONTHS for tattoos to fully settle beneath the skin.

    Dumb question but can you apply sunscreen, protect the tattoo, and still get tan?

    If I get a forearm tattoo this summer, would 4-6 weeks be enough time for it to heal before any prolonged sun exposure?

    How long should I wait to get out in the sun after a new tattoo? (full forearm, in case it depends on the size of the tattoo). I'm not really planing on swimming, but i do like to workout outside. Would 3-4 weeks be enough? Can wearing a UV sleeve help?

    I have been thinking about getting that silk hydration hawaiian tropic sunscreen, what are your thoughts on it after some use?

    I see some sleeves on Amazon for uv protection…. Can I put that on a brand new tattoo to protect my arms from the sun???!!

    How do you know when it's safe to use sun cream on a healing/healed tattoo and rely on that rather than clothing to protect it from the sun.

    can you apply an unscented hypoallergenic sunscreen, say, 5 days after getting a very small tattoo ?

      You want to wait for the tattoo to be fully healed first. If it actually small, it should heal in a few days

    Look I work outside on the beach all day.Will that be a problem?? I will use sun cream and all protections but is there be some issue or?

      Sand can be a issue for sure. Try to keep it away from the sun and sand as much as you can

    How to protect my half sleeve tattoo if im working on the beach 8 hours a day with constant contact with the sun
    Is sunscreen enough?

      If the tattoo is healed, use sun screen and for extra protection I’d recommend wear some light fitting clothes. If it’s healing it’s gonna be even tougher because you gotta watch out for the sun and the sand!

    if it’s a small tattoo, can i use a proper bandage on it when going to the beach etc

      Well you need a tattoo to breath to properly heal. They do sell breathable bandages but you should really try to keep it out as long as you can

      Back tattoos are a pain to heal lol. I recommend using saniderm for that.

    So the main jist is going in the water is a no go and to always try and block it from the sun whether with clothes or some form of sunblock? Seems relatively easy enough

    I have an Aveeno Intense Relief Overnight Cream which I use as a daily moisturizer and use like 2-3 times a day. If I get this sunscreen moisturizer in the video, how do you recommend using both? The sunscreen moisturizer after the Aveeno one or?

      I only will apply the moisturizer when I go outside to protect my tattoos. So just use it if you know you’re gonna be out in the sun.

      Great question! Try to keep it out of the sun as much as you possibly can. Or wear a light weight long sleeve shirt. Once it heals make sure you apply sun screen on the tattoo like I recommended on the video. Good luck!

      Hello! Covering it can help but with that being said, the sand on the beach can be really harmful to your tattoo. I personally wouldn’t go to the beach with a new tattoo while it is healing 😅

    Im getting 2 full days on my legs . 9 days later I will be in Ibiza. I can avoid pools and water but avoiding the sun maybe there abouts impossible. Any tips or thoughts on a tattoo at that stage of healing plz? (FYI changing tattoo date isn’t an option)

      No... keep out of the sun for like 3-4 weeks. If your tanning outside wrap up the location of your ink and you will fine. But don't expose the tattoo to light or hotub.. beach, etc.

    I'm going to melbourne for a holiday for 4 days in 36 hours. By then it will be days 6-10 of the healing process. How should I approach this. Tattoo is on my forearm and I want to wear a short sleeve shirt. If I apply regular sunscreen for those 4 days will it be okay (not doing sunbathing at beach obviously - just regular sight seeing and going around the city CBD) or should i just wear long sleeve shirt over the top the whole time (its like 20 degree celsius of 68 farenheit).

      this one i dont think is scented but i still wouldnt recommend applying sunscreen to a brand new tattoo.

      Sweating is really bad for a tattoo. It can irritate the crap out of it. Try to avoid that as much as possible

      You need to be extremely careful when it comes to the sand and the sun. Those with both destroy your tattoo!

      Once that tattoo is fully healed, I always recommend applying sun screen if you are going outside. You always want your tattoos protected so they are always looking nice!

    How can I protect a new (so not healed) tattoo when it's 30+ degrees out like, are there cover ups to cover just the tattoo that will work (like special foils or sth)?? i can't imagine having to wear long trousers for four weeks straight just for a 5cm diameter tattoo on an ankle!

      You can actually die from a river infection or too much chlorine entering your wound. I agree with the guy above me, is your friend still alive?

      Get some bandages to go around it. Sun will damage the tattoo heavily.

      Not so much h less it’s a warmer day and your tattoos are out in the sun. Other then that if you’re covering it wil clothing I wouldn’t worry about it

    My tattoo is still healing (peeling), at 2 weeks, and I stepped out to run an errand and felt the burn every time I left the car. I wasn’t outside for more than 2 minutes in general but I was wondering how long would it be until the sun starts doing damage?
    Ps I been staying inside ever since I got this tat 😂

      If the tattoo is still healing the sun damage can happen pretty quickly. When the tattoo is healed it can take a little bit longer before any noticeable damage. Best recommendation is for you to keep that bad boy out of the sun as best you could 😂

      @@Yonas2020 same here dude. I stepped out of the shop to walk to my car, and I immediately felt the rays when they hit my shoulder. It was super noticeable

      I just noticed this too, i think its cuz our skin is still tender from the tattoo so it immediately burns when the sun touches it

      @@ceez3317 yup. They say it only takes 2 weeks to heal. False, more like 4 weeks because the new skin at 2 weeks is upper fragile and delicate. You might be able to swim after 2 weeks and have no infections but the sun will burn it easy at that point still

      You can yes, but I feel like adding too much will clog your pours. I would just stick to a moisturizing sunscreen. That works out best
